The AL East plays the NL West, AL Central plays the NL East, and the AL West plays the NL Central. You jumped the button King...hang your head in shame. Oh, and I hate InterLeague play. All teams should face the same amount of teams that the other teams in their own division face. It also shows previews of potential World Series match-ups and I don't like that. I want both teams going into the World Series not knowing a thing about the other. Bored 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2004 I like the "natural rivals" but beyond that they need to junk it. As long as both leagues have different rules (DH) these interleague match-ups are inherently unfair. I'm going to Friday night's game between the A's and Pirates, on Spider-Man 2 night no less. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 7, 2004 Someone fucked up REALLY bad with this interleague play (And, for that matter, the last AL East-NL West) Let's be brutally honest. No one wants to see Yankees/Rockies-Diamondbacks-Padres. Yankees/Dodgers-Giants is still a bit of an extra draw, especially in NY, and for the second time, we lose one of those series. I would love to go see back to back yankees/Dodgers and yankees/Giants at the Stadium. Whats the matter, you don't want to see them play a good team like the Padres. But your right, the Padres and the Yankees don't have much of a history except that they faced each other in the World Series. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2004 I was at the Rivercats game today, (The A's AAA team). I got sunburned all to hell. At least they kept the updates going on the A's game. The A's offense has really stepped it up with the absence of Chavez. I hope they can keep it up for another few weeks Meanwhile Mulder & Hudson are starting to turn it on, Zito & Harden are getting better finally, and Redman, well he is the wilcard, but as a #5 starter, I will take him. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2004 I liked Interleague play when they first did it, just because it was something new, but it's become painfully obvious that it's just flawed. Aside from match-ups like New York vs. New York, Chicago vs. Chicago, etc., the games are pointless and feel like pre-season. The Cubs are one of the few teams not playing interleague games the first part of the week, as they play a four-game set against the red-hot Cards. Not the best time to play them, considering the Cubs' problems as of late, but Pujols will probably miss most of, if not all of the series because of the injury he suffered today. I agree that Interleague is worthless unless it's a cross-town matchup or relocation-related like the Yankees against the Dodgers or the Giants, or A's/Phillies, Red Sox/Braves, Mariners/Brewers(obscure~!), Cardinals/Orioles. Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2004 I've never been a fan of interleague play. For exhibition games and the World Series, it's fine, but it just doesn't feel right during the regular season. They'll have had 5 or 6 Cubs/Cards games on after this week and the seasons only 2 months old. I'm really getting sick of seeing the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, O's, Cubs, Astros, Cards and Giants. There are other teams in the league. I know I've ranted about that more than once but it's starting to get really annoying. As far as Interleague. Every game counts, but more damage can be done when you're playing within your own division. ESPN really needs to shake up what baseball games they put on. The Giants versus the last place Rockies or the Rangers versus the last place Pirates? Aside from Chicago and St. Louis, the games today are crap. I'm really getting sick of seeing the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, O's, Cubs, Astros, Cards and Giants. They're called ratings. The teams you mentioned have the biggest followings of all of the teams in MLB. They're not concerned with appeasing EVERY fan of EVERY team. The Cubs and Cards is a classic rivalry that draws fans and ratings. They aren't going to pass up a game of that caliber for the Devil Rays against the Blue Jays just because a few schmucks actually want to see that game. SS-Treavor Poulffe LHP-Glen Perkins RHP-Steven Waldroup RHP-Mathew Fox RHP-Jay Rainville A good choice adressing pitching. A seven inning game, with one hit between the two teams. Robert Ellis of the Barons pitched a no-hitter, giving up just one walk.
