EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 http://celebrityjustice.warnerbros.com/news/0406/07a.html David Hasselhoff Jailed For DUI June 7, 2004 TV icon and former "Baywatch" star David Hasselhoff, who makes an appearance in the upcoming movie, "Dodgeball," had a run-in with the law this weekend. The LA City Attorney's office tells "CJ" that an undercover Los Angeles police officer noticed Hasselhoff driving "rather erratically" in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, Saturday night. The cop followed Hasselhoff into a McDonalds restaurant, where apparently Hasselhoff caused a stir at the drive through. The City Attorney's office told us that customers became annoyed because the TV star wasn't ordering anything. Police ordered Hasselhoff to take a Breathalyzer test. He was then arrested and taken to jail, where he spent the night. This isn't the 51-year-old Hasselhoff's first dose of hard times. The Maryland native with the California beach-boy good looks, famous for playing a lifeguard on TV, made his own life saving move in 2002 by checking into the Betty Ford Clinic for alcoholism. In an interview during that time, he admitted his drinking problem was so out of control that he was thinking of writing a book called, "Mini Bar and Me." And last year, Hasselhoff rode his motorcycle too hard, crashing his bike and breaking his back. His wife, Pamela Bach, who was riding on the bike at the time, broke her ankle and wrist. Hasselhoff faces a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence for this weekend's incident.
EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,14261,00.html Hasselhoff Tagged for DUI by Sarah Hall Jun 7, 2004, 1:40 PM PT Sounds like David Hasselhoff could have used a little help from a certain hyper-intelligent talking car over the weekend. The 51-year-old actor who starred with the chatty Trans Am K.I.T.T. in the '80s television series Knight Rider, was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of drunken driving, according to LAPD spokeswoman Officer Sara Faden. a d v e r t i s e m e n t Hasselhoff was booked in a McDonald's parking lot in Los Angeles around 11 p.m. after police spied his car--which was presumably not an artificially intelligent crime-fighting car--being driven somewhat erratically. Officers administered a Breathalyzer test and hauled the former Baywatch lifeguard off to cool his heels behind bars overnight. Hasselhoff posted $15,000 bail and was released the next morning. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 1. It's not the first time the former red Speedo-favoring thesp has run into alcohol-related trouble. In June 2002, the small-screen do-gooder checked into Betty Ford for rehab after hitting "rock bottom" during a drinking spree that almost killed him. When he emerged, Hasselhoff proclaimed himself a changed man, ready to live life on the dry side. "I wake up most mornings and smell the coffee and feel the breeze and say 'Wow!'" Hasselhoff said in an interview shortly after his treatment. If the cops are correct, it was a relatively short-lived turnaround. Apart from his booze-fueled sorrows, Hasselhoff has worked over the years to revive his early successes in the form of remakes. In 2003, he and fellow Baywatch hardbodies returned for a two-hour reunion special in which it was revealed that his lifeguard alter-ego Mitch Buchannon was not in fact blown to bits as seen in the 2000 season finale of Baywatch Hawaii. Hasselhoff has also been working for several years to get a big-screen version of Knight Rider off the ground. The original show was a cult classic for four seasons before eventually getting the ax from NBC in 1986. Revolution Studios bought the movie pitch two years ago. Hasselhoff was set to executive produce the film version and possibly to reprise his role as crimefighter Michael Knight, but for now, progress on the project seems to be stalled. In other Hasselhoff career advancement news, Website AllHipHop.com reported last month that Ice-T plans to produce a rap album by the thesp, who will assume the moniker Hassel the Hoff for hip-hop purposes. "The man is a legend, and we are going to show a whole new side of him," Ice-T told Britain's Sun newspaper. We're thinking that Hasselhoff's rap talents are a side of him we'd prefer stayed under wraps.
