The Amazing Race 5 Returns

Recommended Posts

I understand how Colin wants to make a stand, but he's in a RACE, and it's not the time to do it. Shut the fuck up and pay the man...

Especially when everyone else payed 100 dollars...damn.

Sucks they still made it back on time though.

"We have to get on this flight!!"

The guy goes 'ok'...

"You'll do it?"

"No."

And then teh way he just walked away ignoring them was just funny for some reason.

Woa..that was unexpected. Cut off all their hair!? Well at least for chip that wouldn't be much...

But every team has a woman....so that shall be freaky.

On the plus side, you'd be able to tell the twins apart...

Colin's a psycho. And that he thought Christie should have been behind him 100% -- and berating her when she wasn't -- is scary. Christie was completely right when she told him to just pay the hundred bucks and get his ass on the plane.

bump. Why is this on 1 hour early?

(edit) What? Showing the fricking GOP convention?

Oh well, this is probably nonelim anyways.

(another edit) Wait... last week was. Models are screwed. But I can understand Nicole not wanting to shave her head. Most women are a wee bit reluctant to do so, which in retrospect makes Molly's head shaving even more impressive (especially if, as was rumoured, she thought of the angle).

And with that, there will be at least 2/3 women in the final 3. Sure, it took a fuckup by the Models, but still, I'm very impressed.

(edit) um... WHAT? That's the first time they've had 2 non-elims in a row. Well, serves me right for typing that...

Well I have to say that was a good episode. And they kind of did well with the 'suspense' because I also thought the models were gone. But when they first decided to take it, I had a huge smile on my face hoping they would actually do it (even though I knew they wouldn't) Just wondering what they'd look like.

Overall was good and I like the repeated showings of the 'mind games' that Chip and Kim were playing with Colin. And he just goes along with it lol..

How can anyone not respect Colin? The taxi driver in the last episode completely fucked them over. He had every right to be pissed and refuse pay. Fuck the race. It becomes a matter of pride at that point. It takes a lot of determination to pretty much take that whole situation to its very limit. The guy never backed down until he was faced with no other alternative... AND still somehow manages to come in first place. Not to mention the amount of pimp hand this guy has over his girl. He yells at her and tells her to shut up all the time, and then at the end of the episode, she's the one that's apologetic! The guy's the best player in the game. *finger clap* Respeck!

Well, here's the thing. Colin entered into a verbal agreement to pay $100 for what apparently was a 2 hour ride (a price, btw, that all the other teams paid). At the end, Colin and Colin alone decided that it was unsafe, therefore he gave the guy $50. And later he tried to change his story, AND started yelling at the police. If this were in the US, do you think he would've gotten away with as much as he did? He's really lucky that he wasn't thrown in jail because he was stubborn.

Anyways I don't think the taxi driver is innocent of wrongdoing (2 hours on a doughnut? Niiiiice), but Colin isn't clear of fault either. Sure, he might have a case, but if he wants to forfeit the Race to save $50, then go right ahead. Ultimately, he made the right decision in "handing over" the money and walking away. Probably the smartest thing he did that episode.

I don’t think Colin was ever in danger of going to jail. He had about 3 hours until his fight took off. His argument with the police officer couldn’t have taken more than an hour (an hour and a half tops). So he wasn’t in danger of missing his flight.

The worse case scenario, Colin pays the cab driver $100.

The best case scenario, he saves $50. Which is huge since every single team is having money problems this season.

I'd agree, if it weren't for the ranting and raving. Over here, I don't think the police would think twice about throwing you into the pokey overnight to cool off, so I thought that officer was very lenient in dealing with Colin.

I do agree with you that Colin took into account how much time he had to plead his case, but the way he went about it was just wrong.

Actually, I think that this team is the only one who hasn't had money problems (The Twins were also thrifty, but of course they were robbed at Checkpoint). But remember that the money given to teams at the beginning of the leg is considered to be enough for that leg, so paying the $100 wasn't a make-or-break issue. Unless you're dishing out $20 tips to the cab driver, the ticket agent, the guy at the fast food counter...

I respect Colin's drive and focus and him and Christie are still my pick to win it all, but they guy's got problems. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if him and Christie have been involved in some "domestic disputes" when Colin's been drinking too much.

2 non-elims in a row is retarded. How were the Twins penalized then? They could have walked everywhere, come in last, and just have their money taken away again. Silly game.

It is funny how much control Colin has over Christie. Guy is still psycho though.

So are you saying that it was actually safe to drive for 2 hours on a donut? Yes, I do think he would have been able to get away with as much as he did if this took place in the US. Not only that, but an American taxi driver would've been severely reprimanded. There has to be some law against picking up passengers for long trips on a spare tire.

Paying the extra money at that point becomes an issue of pride. Even if less than $50 were at stake here, he should've fought for that money for as long as he could've, which I believe he did.

Driving on a donut IS safe - I've done it actually, providing that you're not trying to break a speed record. I think that you can go about 80km/h on a donut with no problems. Of course, all the teams were urging their drivers to go fast, so that probably led to the car problems. And actually, that would make them partially to blame for any incidents that occured.

And yeah, in the US, you'd probably get reamed for using a donut for 1 second longer than necessary, but then again if you welched on a negotiated price you'd probably also get in a bit of trouble.

That wasn't pride. That was being stubborn. He tried to bully the driver into taking a lower-than-negotiated price, and then stuck to it. Had Colin tried to negotiate at the end and stuck to his guns, then maybe it's a point of pride to get that lower price. So, no matter-of-principle here. It's simply a matter of Colin trying to get his way, as usual.

The Twins are gone, and they didn't even have the decency to make out or something. Jerks. I was very happy that Chip and Kim are still around. I can't believe the useless Bowling Moms made the top 4.

I also blame the producers. Those last final moments seemed like quite a tease for a kiss or a long, lingering hug or something.

"ultimate betrayal"... isn't that a BIT melodramatic? I mean, the only way a "betrayal" would happen is if Chip/Kim used the Yield on Colin/Christie or vice-versa, and even that's a bit of a stretch.

I also wonder if the next leg will be non-elimination. I know that traditionally it's a 2-leg run for the final 3, but with the last team getting robbed at Checkpoint, I could see them doing the non-elimination first, and have the final leg be a hellaciously long one.
