Bored Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 I seriously think we should create a seperate topic for tonight's Yankee/Dodger games so AS won't fill up this topic with posts if Weaver even pitches slightly well.
Guest Anglesault Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Jeff Weaver lost four World Series games? Now that's talent. His over all uselessness ammounted to a quarter of our ruined series.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Not necessarily. Even if he pitched perfectly, someone on the Yankees needed to score a run. If you can't pull ahead after twelve innings, you can't count on winning the game.

Whoever the hell was pitching the 12th for the Marlins did it.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 This board fucking sucks. I typed up a long post, hit add reply and got a "this page cannot be displayed." Of course, my post was gone forever because anytime you go back when posting a message on Invision Board, the message is no longer there.

Guest FrigidSoul Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Rico Petrocelli is basically giving Barry Bonds a giant "fuck you" on this New England Sports program. Its great.
Vern Gagne Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Idiot Dusty doesn't have Moises Alou a RH hitter, face a LH Mark Redman in the 8th instead he has a weak hitting LH hitter in Tom Goodwin.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted June 18, 2004 Report Posted June 18, 2004 Um...what the hell happened to Chase Utley? I see he's not on the Phillie's 25 man roster. Did he get injured, because I can't imagine them sending him back to Triple-A.
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Cubs are 4-8 on the start of either a road trip or a home stand. Those plane flights must be HELL. Â I didn't actually see the game, by the way, I was working all day and will watch the tape tomorrow morning before Game 2.
the pinjockey Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Um...what the hell happened to Chase Utley? I see he's not on the Phillie's 25 man roster. Did he get injured, because I can't imagine them sending him back to Triple-A. You aren't imagining hard enough then. Â They are still working under the philosophy that they want him to get ABs every day in AAA as opposed to spot duty in the majors, combined with their muscial chairs of pitchers the last couple of weeks. Even though a Polanco/Utley platoon would be nice and get him 350-400 ABs this year in the majors. But heaven forbid they cut Doug Glanville.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 The Phillies should make Polanco their utility infielder and have Utley start at second
Bruiser Chong Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Cubs are 4-8 on the start of either a road trip or a home stand. Those plane flights must be HELL. I didn't actually see the game, by the way, I was working all day and will watch the tape tomorrow morning before Game 2. In their defense, they didn't get in until very late this morning, but neither did the A's. Not like the Cubs got blown out, but still, they've got a knack for starting series off on the wrong foot.  As for Baker not pinch-hitting Alou in the 8th, I'd agree, but there was no one on ahead of Goodwin. I'm sure if we had seen Martinez get that double that he looked to have, Alou would've come on to pinch-hit.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 The Phillies should make Polanco their utility infielder and have Utley start at second Better yet, play both Polanco AND Utley, and bench either Rollins or Bell. And as Pinjockey said, heaven forbid they cut Doug Glanville. You can't find a .500 OPS just anywhere.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 As an aside, Utley hasn't really played all that well. A .261 OBP is simply unacceptable.
Rob E Dangerously Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 hey Geary.. thanks for getting Benito out of the game there.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Looking over statistics. For all the talk that Citizens Bank Park is a hitters' park, it is actually favorable to pitchers. The Phillies and their opponents hit better on the road, and they have a Park Factor of 0.934 (1.000 is balanced).
Rob E Dangerously Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Al.. do the Phillies have a spot for Matt Stairs?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Absolutely not. Between Jason Michaels and Ricky Ledee, they have plenty of outfield depth.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Matt Stairs can play first base as well
DMann2003 Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 As one of the resident Reds marks on the board I'd just like to say  Reds 3-2, top of the 8th, 1 out :-)
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Nice. Â And I'd just like to point out that the message boards on mlb.com and for the individual team pages are complete crap. They have some of the stupidest discussions I have ever seen in my life. This place and mlb.theinsiders.com are far superior.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Trot Nixon fucked out of a homer by a fan on the foul side of the right field foul pole reaching into fair ground, grabbing a homer, and pulling it back into foul ground. All the replays thus far are close-up and show its a fair ball. Â It also appears as though Barry Bonds is the laziest LFer in the game now. He just jogs and reaches out...refuses to dive for the close ones.
geniusMoment Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 Fuck you Danny Graves. You are a piece of shit pitcher who should not even be in the big leagues.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 He may have kept the game going, but in his defense, it was Larkin's routine error that allowed the tying run to score. And Graves could've given up the winning run, which was on third, but didn't. He messed up putting the guys on, but had Larkin not bobbled the ball, he may have had a shot at getting the last out at first. Â And Ock, I agree completely about the MLB team pages. The people on those boards makes everyone here look like brilliant.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 I was gonna add that at least Griffey will probably get another shot at 500, but Pujols ensured that that'll have to wait until tomorrow. I was pulling for the Reds, but I think it's safe to say that they're finally starting to play on their true level.
