Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted June 17, 2004 Don't know if this was posted anywhere, but Meltzer said the first impact rating was a 0.32, which is better than anyone had any right thinking it would be.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2004 So that's more or less half of what Velocity does? That's a good number for TNA seeing as they have nowhere near the exposure that WWE does. Good for TNA.

I didn't see this anywhere. You got a link? If it is true, it's a huge rating considering the death slot. That's like them delivering a 1.0 in primetime. If they can keep the rating in that range for a while, they might have some ammution for negiotating for a primetime slot (hopefully on FX!)
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted June 17, 2004 I, Max got a .08 for it's first show and probably hasn't even touched that rating yet and Best Damned gets a .3 with multiple replays and tons of advertising. TNA should be nothing but happy about that number.

If they can keep the rating in that range for a while, they might have some ammution for negiotating for a primetime slot (hopefully on FX!) Never mind, I saw it. TNA equaled the network's highest drawing show with no promotion. They've got to be going apeshit. Imagine if they had the promotion that I, Max did. If they keep it up, they'll be on primetime by the time the new TV season starts up. That might explain the sudden FX interest. They've got to be looking at that number in that horrible slot and wondering what it could do for their network in a much, much better position.

Guest The Last Free Voice Report post Posted June 17, 2004 Are you serious? Holy shit. That's fucking great. To bad they had to follow Impact up with a shitastic ppv. (Rush is in progress right now...Working on it, I swear)

The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2004 No wonder FX might be interested. To pull that rating on Fox Sports at 3 pm (most places) is insane. To make that comparison agian...I, Max had a lot of advertising and better timeslot.

The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2004 We'll worry about the week 2 rating when the observer comes out next week. Let's just all take a moment to think about how ridiculously high that rating is for 3pm on Fox Sports. You just HAVE to give them some freaking credit...don't you? Let's just all take a moment to think about how ridiculously high that rating is for 3pm on Fox Sports. You just HAVE to give them some freaking credit...don't you? Absolutely. If you consider all the factors, you have to applaud TNA here. No way you can slice that negatively at all. They have a horrible timeslot and very little promotion and they are already tied with the highest rated show ON THE NETWORK! I'd say this bodes well for Impact's chances for success. It is great that they matched or exceeded FSN's best show though with no promotion from FSN itself other than the BDSSP appearance of Jeff Jarrett, especially in the horrible timeslot. If they doubled it according to early reports like TNA says then that is matching what Velocity does usually.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2004 I'm having a hard time understanding this "doubling the rating" thing. I know the first show had a lot of positive buzz coming off of it...but most shows don't go up after their debut right away. The intrigue of seeing the product for the first time (and free) usually would drive the initial number up, you'd think. Of course...I didn't buy that they could have done a .3 where they were either...so maybe I'll be stunned again.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted June 17, 2004 It's possible that they doubled it considering how universal the praise for the first show was.

Bps, I'm having a hard time buying that they did a .6 either, for all the reasons you said. I'll wait until I see confirmation before I get all excited, but I did always believe they'd be in the .3 to .5 range for the first show, just off the internet word of "type." I think they did enough in week 1 to bring most of the viewers back, so I don't expect to big a drop to week 2. It'd surprise the hell out of me if they doubled though, unless every single person told their friends to watch too. And you know most of the people who saw the show taped it, which I don't believe counts towardt the rating. What did ECW on TNN used to get ratings-wise? I believe they peaked at 1.3 and the lowest was 0.6. The first did a 0.9 though.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2004 What did ECW on TNN used to get ratings-wise? When they were taken off the air the last rating was a .6 They regularly did higher than that though. They'd do between low 1s and .8 or so.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2004 The taping thing is a good point. I don't even get the show here...TDinDC tapes it while he's at work...as I assume may people would have to do.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2004 I tape while I'm at work, but this week it'll get to watch it as it airs, so I'm defintely avoiding spoilers. But if those counted, it's be much higher.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 Now think about it this way, if so many people probably taped it the first week, how many people might've actually tried arranging their schedules to truly watch it? Then that might explain the doubled in ratings. You know, if you could get a Canadian channel (not an American channel we can get, I mean an actual Canadian channel) to pick it up, then you'd probably have a pretty good precentage of Canadians watching it. Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 Ultimately, none of this matters. The important thing is for the ppv buys to increase --- unless they start doing unbelievably good numbers and someone actually pays them to be on TV.
