Feedback for the 6/17 HD

Abe's time has come to an end. I knew he wouldn't last long as DOA when he wasn't used in a comedic manner oh well. Speaking of comedy, Black T beating up Jim Ross was pretty funny.

I'm a little pissed that Derek Stone stole my title shot against The Mad Cappa. I've been building up that match for weeks, and I don't see what Derek did to deserve it instead.

.....oh, nevermind.

 

Well, anyway:

 

-Northstar/Fly was a nice match that also happened to put over both guys. I liked the psychology of the match, with Fly trying to bust out his aerial moves but Northstar deciding to stick with moves that focused on weakening the back. Again, good match.

 

-Really enjoyed the squash Sadist/Bradshaw match. Although I expected the mention of Bradshaw's nazi-fiasco, I still laughed pretty hard when the referee stopped JBL from raising his arms to the crowd. I also really liked the interview afterwards. I loved Black T beating on Jivin Jim, but acting as if he really enjoys it. I'm still one of the biggest fans of Jivin Jim, and I'm not sure we'll ever see a more genius character.

 

-Very good promo between Zack and Crystal. The Zack portion only helped to continue putting him over as an asshole, and the Crystal segment made sure to allude to the fact that their feud is far from over. You can really feel the hostility between Zack and Crystal in their promos, and I think that's one of the driving points behind the feud being as entertaining as it has been thus far.

 

-Laughed at the Cole/Coach/Caboose bit that took place right before the Mann/Static match. Good contest between Mann and Static, and I loved the ending portion of the match. Logan moonwalking right into a schoolboy was awesome. Synth and Jackson was a pretty decent match as well, if not a little short. I've really been enjoying the GPX/Saints feud thus far, and I thought a great job was done with this tonight.

 

-Really good match between Rodez and Bryte. Before this contest, Bryte had looked a little weak when it came to the technical aspect of professional wrestling, but this match did a lot to boost his credibility. As well as....you know....further along his dick persona. Again, the match was actually pretty exciting, and I liked how Rodez kept coming back to fight, despite the everpresent interference of The Hand. It was great to see Rodez finally pull out the win in the end, and even better to see Panther run out and finally get a measure of revenge against the guy that screwed him over months ago. Very, very well done.

 

-Liked the ominous mean streak of Ryan Smith starting to brew. For a feud that has lasted so long like the one between these two men, Dama continues to find a way to keep the feud relatively fresh. I'm looking forward to seeing where the Damaramu/Smith feud ends up at the Great Angle Bash.

 

-I don't think words can describe just how excited I am for the War Gheymes match between Homeless Dan/Fonzie/Warrior/and the rest at the GAB. Just.....wow......do I sense a possible match-of-the-year candidate??

 

-Overall, I really enjoyed the Rick Edwards skits tonight. If I can offer just a little criticism, Parka, I do think you sometimes stretch yourself a little thin. Between the segment with Eddy Kalm, then the segment with Cain and Judas, then the match with Stevens.....it just seems that you try to do a little too much in these weekly shows when you really could afford to spread your storylines out a little more. Of course, all the Rick segments tonight were very good. I do like the subtle face-tendencies I'm beginning to sense from Rick. Between trusting Eddy a little more, showing compassion for Judas, sending Cain to the back, winning the match against Chris Stevens on his own....Rick's character is slowly beginning to evolve and it's being handled VERY well. I just think that maybe next time, you could afford to cut down the segments a little. But the ones that you wrote for tonight, including the match, were really good.

 

-Crazy Main Event between Zack/Calvin and Crystal/Sly. If this match was any indication of what War Games could be like at the Great Angle Bash, then it should REALLY be something awesome to read. It was also nice to finally see Crystal get a pinfall over Zack at the end. The action tonight was just intense, and it truly did an amazing job of setting the scene for the Pay-Per-View next Sunday.

 

Comments on my Drek/Cappa segment would, as always, be GREATLY appreciated. I didn't know Abe would be resigning at the beginning of the show, so I know that may have been a little confusing. But besides that, I'm interested to know what other people thought of my segment. As much as I really appreciate reading Hoff's comments every week, it would be great to finally know what other people think as well.

After GAB you'll understand why I'm so apt to have as many matches as I can with others. That creates the problem of having too many segments, but I need to do it because of where I'm going with the storyline.

 

If I didn't have a match each week on top of my segments it wouldn't be as bad, but I like to defend the X Title often.

 

Don't worry I have everything planned out so I'm not going to run out of stuff because I'm doing so much. It's all leading to something. I realize that I'm averaging three segments a show, but for now it's necessary.

 

Next week I should have only two segments though. I'm not going to have a match next week.

Honestly, I'd like to disagree with NYU. LP, I think your stuff is consistently some of the better stuff on the show, and I don't think the amount is hurting it at all. But, maybe that's just me.

 

Anyway, good show. Noot to embarass Papa but I totally marked out for Panther again. More later.

Yeah, I had a good week to write both matches but I waited until the last two days to begin writing them, which screwed me up, so I decide to have Synth/JJ start during the "commerical break" and return with them already well into their match.

 

My character is like Mick Foley -- comes back for the big shows. Before I became a show regular (me & Mystery Eskimo work on Black T, and I'm creating new teams for the tag division, hence the birth of The Saints and soon the New New Midnight Express), I wrote the occassional PPV match while handling the PPVs and their openings. So I'm glad people are enjoying my stuff. Especially when I'm thinking more about the New New Midnight Express.

 

As for the show. I found it very entertaining this week. I thought everything worked. Eskimo has been doing an excellent job handling BT-JINGUS/Sadist while I've been working with GPX-Saints. He knows the JINGUS character a helluva better than me, so it works both ways. The ME was fun. Everybody involved in the Thrillogy feud are excellent writers, and it shows.

 

I'd also like to point out. Much like GPX, the Saints are open to be used by others. The tag division is slowly establishing new teams, but it can always use the help. Like BT said: "We don't care if you're a good buy, bad guy, bum of the street -- we'll take on anybody."

Sorry about the Abe thing. I tried to do a little editing for you to make it seem like it had all been recorded earlier in the day, but with Triple C commentating during the segment, it wouldn't have made much sense.

 

At first I was against having four singles titles on one show, but you've done a good job in making the Puerto Rican Title mean something and getting it to look as worthy as all the better belts. Good stuff.

 

Nice to see Leon Rodez back. Having read a few of his SWF matches, I can tell you that KC's a pretty damn good writer.

Glad the match went down ok, seeing as it was somewhat of a rush-job. It looks better on the board than it did on WordPad, that's for sure.
