Guest Nanks Report post Posted June 24, 2004 You poor, ignorant tool J*ingus. I guess you're one of these people who scoff at rich people who have depression because "they've no right to be depressed when there are others more needy". One can only hope you become afflicted with a mental condition others scoff at one day so you can gain some kind of perspective.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Doesn't this start out though as one just with a fucked up view on how they should look, which leads to them acting more and more like a moron in terms of not eating, and eventually it just takes them over? That's just what I've always thought, which is why I have little to no sympathy for people like this.
TSA09 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 What I find sad is all the entertainment talk shows are painting her like a saint for getting treatment; No one in Hollywood would have the courage to do it and not many people know. What about Tracey Gold? She came forward years ago and admitted she had a problem. At her lowest she weighted about 89lbs her last day on Growing Pains. What's even funnier is that she too a stab at herself on the season finale of SNL. In the skit she was part of the paparatizzi and her line was "Hey Mary-Kate eat a sandwich" Sure it's sad that he has an eating disorder, but don't paint her a some kind of saint for getting treatment. Jingus 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 "You don't like abortions? THEN DON'T HAVE ONE! . . . ...I'M PISSED, GODDAMMIT!" Heh. Carlin rules. But, on a more serious note: You poor, ignorant tool J*ingus. I guess you're one of these people who scoff at rich people who have depression because "they've no right to be depressed when there are others more needy". One can only hope you become afflicted with a mental condition others scoff at one day so you can gain some kind of perspective. So I don't know shit about mental illness, huh? That's funny, because in college a few years back, I once called the cops on my girlfriend and got her sent to an asylum for a few days. She was repeatedly cutting herself all over her body, had tried suicide multiple times, and in fact claimed to be spiritually dead already and was just waiting for her body to follow. This shit happened on and off for YEARS, and I was usually the one who ended up taking care of her. I've still got the scars. Literally. THAT'S mental illness. Ergo, I don't feel sorry for some billionaire princess cunt whose biggest problem is that she thinks she's fat. My apologies if I offended you, Nanks. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Poor people get it too, you know. That's what a lot of this comes down to... people just don't like the rich. For the record, I don't have any sympathy for her either, but I don't think it's funny.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Since no one said anything in response to my previous message, I'll say it again. I just want some sort of clarification on it one way or another. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I don't know, but even if that were true, it's really not much of a reason to be unsympathetic. So... they're mentally weak and have no self esteem, and therefore should be made the subject of ridicule? It's like throwing footballs at the retarded kids. Tawren 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 No, it's like throwing footballs at an incredibly skinny girl who chooses not to eat.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I beg everybody here who doesn't understand what keeps her from being able to eat to go and take a $200 psychology course at your local community college. You'll be much better for it.
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 No, don't. I'd rather throw footballs at you because you're stupid.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 So if someone allows this to happen, then why should we really care? I feel the same way about this, if it IS true that the actual "disease" stems from their own doing to start with, as I do about people who start out drinking/smoking, and totally ignore what can happen when you dive into stuff like that really hard, and end up getting killed or killing someone else. She may not be able to control herself now, and may not be able to get herself to eat, but it's her own fucked up self that allowed her to get to that point. Some people are so weak that I just can't stand to have sympathy for. Again, if it doesn't stem from someone allowing it to happen in the first place, all of the above is totally mute. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted June 24, 2004 Its like having MPD or being a Schizzo. Nobody allows themself to get anorexic, something in their brain just goes kapoot and from there it begins.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 That's a viewpoint I can understand (DH's), whether or not it's valid. Reacting with mirthful glee is not. Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not going to have a party over this and celebrate, I don't think it's a "good" thing in any way, just like it's horrible when people get addicted to certain things, it's always sad to see people cross that certain line. I just don't really care, seeing how more than likely there was this point in their life where they let go, and allowed it to happen in a way, even though they didn't mean to. I understand why it happens though, and that's what makes me really feel bad. There is obviously so much pressure on kids these days to be thin, etc... I have a 13 year old niece who is very thin, and is just the perfect size and everything yet she buys all of these various magazines and sees all of these other people, and over the last year she has started calling herself fat, etc... I'm sure that if even she doesn't put that into check, it could end up creating a problem over time.

Jingus 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I'd disagree with it being a disease. Unlike drug addiction or schizophrenia, there's been no proof found of an actual biological difference in the brain of a person with an eating disorder compared to an ordinary brain. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 By the way, I have no sympathy simply because I'm an unfeeling bastard, but if I had any shred of humanity decency left in my black heart, I would. There is much ignorance on display here, and I'm sure someone will come along and explain it to you eventually, cause I'm sure as hell not going to. I'll bet you geniuses think ADD is fake as well. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I don't think ADD is fake, but there are a lot of people who are misdiagnosed simply because the parents have no control over their kids and don't know what to do, so they equate their kids' behavior with ADD. I worked at the Boys and Girls Club for a year and some of the kids I saw you could tell had ADD and the others were just kids who's parents had no idea how to raise a child and the child was out of control as a result. Those parents would always come in and say they thought their kid might have ADD. I wanted to say, "No...you just let your kid get away with murder and he's taking advantage of it!" The thing is a kid being unruly and a kid having actual trouble focusing is two different things, but some people just don't get it.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2004 I agree with that post in every way Parka, I couldn't agree with you more. It's almost like ADD is an "in" thing what with so many kids being told that they have it, when it's just an excuse for other problems.

I'm sure that if even she doesn't put that into check, it could end up creating a problem over time. i used to work with a girl like that. she was (is) drop dead gorgeous, and didn't have an once of fat on her (unless you count her big boobs). and she'd go on and on about how she was dieting and trying to lose weight, and i used to tell her "What the fuck are you dieting for? YOUR NOT FAT!! if ANYONE here needs to diet, it ME! What the hell are you wasting your time for!?" but it wouldn't sink in. so i just gave up...you just can't reason with these people. like Carlin jokes, huh? i got his Joke-A-Day calendar for Christmas, so i'll share a few with you: "Expressions I Question: Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. if it's undisputed, what's all the fighting about? To me, "undisputed" means we all agree. Here are two guys beating the crap out of each other over something they apparently agree on. makes no sense." "I put a dollar in one of those change machines. nothing changed." "A 7-day waiting period for purchasing a handgun is stupid. it just gives the buyer more time to think of people he'd like to kill. now, instead of a single murder, you've got a multiple homicide on your hands." "I never watch 'Sesame Street'. i know most of that stuff." "I think tobacco and alcohol warnings are too general. they should be more to the point: 'People who smoke will eventually cough up small brown pieces of lung'. and 'Warning! Alcohol will turn you into the same jerk your father was.'" "Expressions i question: Legally drunk. well, if it's legal, what's the problem? 'Leave my friend alone, officer, he's legally drunk!'" "in L.A., there's a hot line for people in denial. so far no one has called." "The reason the mainstream is thought of as a stream is because it's so shallow."
