Maybe they decided to mess with the sound for the 6 channel setup, but this DVD sounds absolutely terrible on a stereo TV. Listening to the entrances for Goldberg/Lesnar, Fink sounds scratchy and everything is generally drowned out by the music. The video looks good, but did they compress the audio for that?

They fucked the audio up probably because of the removal of a lot of the negative chants directed at both men throughout the whole match.

Uhm, no. The Goodbye chants are there. Goldberg Sucks is there. You can hear "Boring" quite clearly although in one scene it merges into a Goldberg chant. As well as a ton of booing.

I'd say it's still quite the trainwreck, although just not crashing into the station and out the other side. ;) But most of that is probably because of hindsight.

But the audio just seems generally screwy. If this goes onto Disc 2 then I'm upset, but so far it's not THAT bad on headphones.

It really hates plan ol' 2-speaker TVs though. I know the show wasn't filmed in 5.1, but I was curious of their use of it on the DVD fucked the audio.

Except for a few mintues in the middle, the crowd is deafening with negative chants.

IIRC, the chants included...

You Sold Out

The Goodbye song (mentioned)

This Match Sucks

Boring (several times and very very loud)

Goldberg sucks (mentioned)

We Want Bret

We Want Hogan

Hogan

Austin

There were a few more, but I'd have to watch again.

IIRC, someone also mentioned WWE edited Ultimos slip during his entrance. Can anyone confirm this, because it's probably the #3 best moment on the show for the undercard.

Ultimo Dragon's entrance slip is edited out. WWE also took out Flair saying "I don't think so, mother fucker!"

Once he came out through the curtain he slipped on the stage (which seemed to have been made of glass or something) and almost landed on his ass.

Okay, to put the editing rumors to rest, here's a 96K MP3 file of all the crowd chants in the match from the DVD. They're all quite audible, although a "Boring" chant suddently becomes "Goldberg." This Match Sucks and others are quite easy to hear. The second Goodbye chorus seems shorter than I remember, perhaps they played Goldberg's theme longer to cover it?

They just edited the angle. Its really far away from the set (from the other side of the arena infact) so when Ultimo's music hits, you can see this shadowy figure come out and suddenly fall down. :D

I really want to know about to what extent they edited the crowd reaction to Lesnar/Goldberg. I was there in person and being in that crowd for the match will rank as one of the funniest things I've ever seen. I want to relive it as close to possible as I can, and while I hear about there being edits, has anyone actually posted the original Lesnar/Goldberg match to see how it differs from the DVD version? Or at the very least, an audio file comparing both the original and DVD version of the match?

I hear about how much they edited it, but no one has actually done a side-by-side comparision.

I'd like to do it someday to actually see what was edited out. Just as soon as I can get hooked up with a copy of the original WM XX broadcast. On the DVD, they edited out 2 minutes worth of the Goldberg / Lesnar match and even took out Austin's post match celebration.

Speaking of bad sound, has anyone picked up the Judgment Day 2004 DVD? The audio for the WHOLE event is horrible, you can hear the crowd over the commentray throughout the show. Now whether or not that is a good thing is debatable, but I found it highly irritating.

That happens with every other WWE DVD for some reason (usually the PPVs) I have to switch my TV to simulated surround sound or turn on my actual surrond sound system to get everything equalized.

Yeah I noticed that too. But missing out on Cole and Tazz on commentary didn't break my heart either.
