TNA Impact Fox Sports Net tapings

June 24, 2004

Orlando, Fla. at Universal Studios

Report by Danney T. Robertson, PWTorch.com correspondent

The soundstage was filled to capacity again tonight. Still not the crowd size from the first tapings, but enough to fill up the studio anyway. They got the crowd going by throwing out quite a few t-shirts. Jimmy Hart then came out and plugged TNA and pumped up the crowd. Jeremy Borash then came out with the ladies for the evening, Nikki and Tess. Don West and Mike Tenay and the Spanish announce team came out.

XPLOSION TAPINGS

(1) Shark Boy & D-Ray 3000 upset Glen Gilberti & Johnny Swinger. The crowd was very into Shark Boy and really got on Glen Gilberti & Swinger. Shark Boy got the win by pulling down Swinger's trunks and rolling him up for the win.

(2) The Naturals beat Batts & a guy that I've never heard of. Impressive opening match. Good back and forth action with some impressive highspots. The Naturals got the win with their double-team finisher

They then showed a recap of last night's Two Year anniversary pay-per-view.

They then showed the Impact opening and panned the camera over the crowd.

IMPACT TAPINGS

(1) Primetime & The Amazing Red & Chris Sabin beat Kazarian & Miyamoto & Someone else whose name I didn't catch. Overall, it was a very good match. Another match filled with plenty of highspots. There was an awesome four-man superplex off the top rope. I don't know how it will end up on TV, but the Amazing Red had an off night. He blew quite a few spots and just seemed off.

Once again they threw t-shirts out to the crowd. One thing I've noticed going to these tapings is that they sure throw out a lot of shirts. They throw out at least 10 to 15 each week.

(2) "Alpha Male" Monty Brown pinned "Irish" Pat Kenney. Good back and forth action. Not as fast paced as the matches before this one, but that's not a bad thing. Brown can play off the crowd really well. Brown got the win with The Pounce

(3) Team Canada beat America's Most Wanted. The crowd was all over Team Canada and very solidly behind AMW. They weren't so behind then at first, but after the saw what they could do, they were really behind them. Solid action from both teams and some cool spots from AMW. The Naturals came out and took out AMW with a chair. Team Canada took advantage of the situation and got the win.

A promo saying how amazing Vince Russo is aired.

Three musicians came out to announce the arrival of Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett came out and cut a promo about the night before saying that he wants to know the decision about last night's main event. Larry Zbyszko then came out a told Jarrett to shut up and that he has a message for him. He said that he will find out the decision next Wednesday night on PPV. (The crowd really didn't like this.) Jarrett then took out Zbyszko with his guitar. 3 Live Kru then made the save. The Elite Guard then came out to help Jarrett.

They then showed a promo for Jeff Hardy and announced that next week Dennis Rodman will be there.

(4) D-Lo Brown & AJ Styles beat Abyss & Dallas. Another good match. A.J. Styles is going to have a great future in this business. Styles got the win when he reversed a powerbomb into a huracanrana and then rolled him up for the win. Afterwards Monty Brown came back out and attacked D-Lo. Kid Kash then runs out and the four heels destroy Brown and Styles. Good main event.

They then show the close for Impact.

BONUS MATCH

(1) 3 Live Kru beat Michael Shane & The Elite Guard. A fun match with some good wrestling and the wrestlers looked like they were just having a good time and enjoying what they do. 3 Live Kru got the win with a rollup.

------------------

Sounds like a pretty good show. The 6 man tag, AMW/Team Canada, and main event should all be good.

Look like another good addition of Impact. Man if only they could get the PPVs up to this consistent quality.

Lee Marshall is a road agent and Mark Madden runs a small company in Oregan.

I have no problem with cliffhangers. But when you combine a cliffhanger with bait and switch, that ticks me off. Not that I care, but thats annoying.

So...there's a chance that Jeff Hardy may not have been a one time deal? Just saw the match between the two, and I found it fairly decent...just found something I didn't know out too. I'm a Jeff Hardy mark! :o . But yea, that'd be good news for TNA because he was over huge. And I know a bunch of chicks who are talking about ordering now because they possibly missed Jeff hardy.

And Dennis Rodman in TNA..? God, didn't like him in WCW this won't be any different.

Looks good. Hopefully I'll be home to watch it.

What the hell? They split up Diamond and Swinger, change Diamond's name after he's had it forever, put them in a shitty feud, and then job him to Monte Brown? Maybe I'm overreacting.

One question: How is Gilbertti and Swinger losing a match an upset? I know Shark Boy and D-Ray 3000 (again, WHY does he have a job?) aren't exactly stars --- but aren't Gilbertti & Swinger basically jobbers themselves?

I'm looking forward to a Team Canada v AMW program, though.

I dread the Red tag match because when he's blowing spots, he can be rough to watch.

Gilbertti and Swinger have been in a feud recently. So they are slightly less of a jobber team then the Preptual Jobbers of D-Ray and Sharky.

What two Canada members was it?

Red's good when he's on, and average at best when he's not, so we're in agreement.

C'mon, they're Canadians. They all look alike to me. :)

As long as it's not Young and Roode together the matches should be okay/good I guess.

None of them really scream out "I SUCK!" to me, so any of them should be OK, at least. AMW needs smaller guys to bump like crazy for them.

Young is Horrible. Roode is all punchy kicky chokey, with a couple of above average power moves thrown in.

Sounds like every single other Amazing Red match. The kid has never impressed me. I've never seen him make it through a single match without blowing a spot. He's part of the reason why people think Indie feds and/or cruiserweights suck. At least that's how I feel.

Red isn't any good at all.

I can see why you would say that. People are used to their safe and clean WWE, not the daring and different botch possible indy feds.

Nope..and IMO that's a good thing. People were complaining when they first heard the results would be given away on free TV instead of on the PPv...but heh, guess TNa knew not to do that. And just strung some people along even longer. That will make more people buy it...or either piss them off and they won't lmao..but either way it'll probaly even out.

Well IMHO, it pisses me off. They basically said that they would explain on IMPACT! this week and now they are not?!?!!!! This is bullshit, I agreed when people said they shouldn't be using the PPV to set up free TV, but doing a bait and switch like this is honestly bullshit.

Satellite's out, so i'll just give my thoughts on the spoilers. this show seems to have more wrestling to it, which is strange considering how the PPV was. i'd actually like to see a fued between Monte Brown and Pat Kenney instead of the crap they're each in right now. AMW seems to actually have challengers, which is good. and lastly, whoever is booking the main event should be kicked in the balls. the only thing worse than the nonfinish on Wednesday is this bait and switch that's going to be on Impact. just makes everyone look like shit.

The guy you never heard've is Jerelle Clarke, a.k.a. The Master of the 630 Senton. Mikey Batts is Billy Kidman's cousin in real life, and was trained by Kidman. I saw him work a few months ago in Connecticut (where he grew up before moving to FL) and he's a very solid wrestler. Kidman occasionally comes to NWA-FL shows and hangs out with him backstage. I doubt TNA...hell, WWE...would let him do that for Impact, though.

Nosawa was Miyamoto and Kazarian's partner.

I was a big fan of Diamond in ECW, so I'm certainly not happy with his treatment in TNA. However, there's nothing wrong with this result - Monty's been given a monster singles push (he has a 9-2 record IIRC) while Kenney is almost solely a tag wrestler (only 4 of 32 matches have been singles), so it makes sense for Monty to win here.
