Guest The Decadent Slacker Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 No Moon either, but still, they worked their asses off. Put over the new bandmembers, made it seem special. They weren't as good as the original lineup (of course. Almost not band is), but they were great, & had fun doing it. Not much more i can ask for.
PLAGIARISM! Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 I gotta find someone to go to Stiff Little Fingers with in october. None of my indie frinds will appreciate it.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 I went to Ozzfest yesterday in Camden, NJ. Slayer was AMAZING. I was in the pit, 4th row. My friend sold me an extra ticket for $35. Lawn. So we snuck down to the barriers behind the pit, hopped them (twice, mind you, after visiting the bathroom following Slayer) and had a great time. Saw the main stage acts. Nothing on the side stage really interested me, but I would like to have seen/partaked in the "Wall of Death" that...forget their name...does. Can't wait for next year!

I was there too doing photography for the second and main stage. Lacuna Coil and God Forbid were the highlights of the second stage for me. Superjoint, Wylde, and Dimmu were just kind of "there" for me, mostly because I wasn't familiar with much of their music, and I hate metal shows in big venues. Slayer were great, though, and I can't wait for the Jager show they're doing in November.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 There's an AMAZING line-up in New York tonight with Slayer, Slipknot, God Forbid, etc... God other commitments, though.
Placebo Effect Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 And now that I remember, Bam Margera, Raeknown (or whatever the name of the guy with the huge hair and goatee is), and Bam's girlfriend were in the back watching Slayer's set. The front row of the main stage noticed him, and were screaming at him to come out, but he smartly (seeing as how he'd get "heat" for doing it) just smiled and toasted to the crowd.
Alro Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 I saw my last concert of the summer this past Sunday. "Weird Al" Yankovic at King's Island. It was nothing short of amazing.
King Kamala Posted August 27, 2004 Author Report Posted August 27, 2004 Alice Cooper, September 22nd at the State Theater, Portland, Maine Ben Folds, September 30th, at the Colby College gym, Waterville, Maine. (I'm surprised Ben Folds is playing somewhere up in the boonies. Even thought, it's a college town I've never heard of a national touring band playing there)

(I'm surprised Ben Folds is playing somewhere up in the boonies. Even thought, it's a college town I've never heard of a national touring band playing there) For Bens Folds, the reason they're playing there is, quite simply, because they're paid to. When bands tour venues, they get paid partly based on ticket sales. When they play colleges, the actual college/organization pays them "x" amount of money to show up.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 hey Placebo Effect? Ben Folds is a HE, not a THEY. The bands been long seperated. No more "Five". He's played at my school of 12,000...honestly, he'd assured to be a big stoner, so perhaps the laid back atmospheres call to him.

I'm sure he likes the laidback atmosphere, but the money is a big draw too. Lostprophets, Hoobastank, and ImaRobot, for example, did a tour of exclusively colleges and were able to pull somewhere between $15,000 and $20,000 per show no matter how many people showed up.
Angelus Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 Went to Metallica ( Lost Prophets & Slipknot played just before... but i don't like them ) And the only "big" festival here in Switzerland where i saw The Darkness ( Yeah !!! ), Dionysos & Muse
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 Yeah so I was all high on myself because I was gonna be going to a SUFFOFUCKINGCATION show right? yeah They cancelled. That was the show I wanted to see above all the others. KMFDM is rolling through in october, but that's no longer summer and it ain't Suffo...
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 I've just decided to go to GWAR/Dying Fetus twice.
Alro Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 Going to see Collective Soul tomorrow. God bless the Cordish Company for bringing bands I liked in high school to their new entertainment complex.
Placebo Effect Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 September appears to be an incredibly shitty month for shows Soulfly and Ill Nino is skippable, Tantric/12 Stones is super meh, I don't like Flogging Molly, and I don't know if I want to go up to NY to see In Flames when they'll be back a year from now. October, though, is awesome, with Type O Negative, GWAR, KMFDM, the Nintendo Fusion Tour, and I believe the Dope/Motograter show.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 Looks like KMFDM is rolling through Alberta, as well as Ministry. If I do well on my hockey merch sale tomorrow I might throw for tickets.
