June 25, 2004 (Nashville, TN) – This past Wednesday, on “Totally NASCAR” Jeff Hammond teased being involved with a professional wrestling television broadcast. TNA Entertainment, LLC announced today that FOX Sports NASCAR analyst and host, Jeff Hammond will join the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling “Impact!” broadcast team starting July 9th.

I guess this is the first bi-product of the association with Fox. It's an interesting move. I don't know the guy, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not fan of 3 man announce teams. TNA's announced improved sooooo much when they dropped Ferrara from team.

I still fail to see the connection between NASCAR and TNA. Everytime a NASCAR guy is in the company, you get the 'the two sports are very much alike'. Apart from both being relatively popular in Nashville, I see no connection.

Guest Mr. Wrestling

Actually Jeff Hammond is pretty funny on the NASCAR on FOX broadcasts. I think he makes a good addition to the team. He seems to know wrestling from what I've heard him say. He talks about wrestling every now and then referring to himself as "Hollywood Hammond."

Hammond does have some knowledge and what he doesn't know he will work hard to learn.

I don't know if it's a good move, but it could lead to maybe some cross promotion which can get the TNA out there. Hammond can do a good job, the question is just how much knowledge he has and how quickly he can learn what he doesn't know.

Doesn't Ryder own 1W? That'd be a good reason.
