GAB feedback

Recommended Posts

The show would have been up by 12:30 EST but I think the boards went down. It wasn't until around 1:15 CT/2:15 EST that I was able to piece together WarGames and move it to HE. Then the board went down again.

Before anybody asks, yes The Saints got squashed old school. The reason why was because I wanted to showcase GPX's "more focus" attitude while retaining their childish antics. The Saints will march again.

It was better than the WWE's bash that's for sure. :)

It's true. You, AS & I created the OAOAST. I even give you two a "OAOAST Created By" credit at every PPV.

And I also liked WarGheymes (Yes I actually read it -- most of the show too). The pic of Monsoon & Comic Book Guy AS was hilarious.

This was a hell of a lot better than the WWE's Bash as far as I have enough time to scan it through. (and I was unfortunate to be at the WWE Bash!)

No this can't be happening. I was left out of the props again!? Well that's only the 1887908730875 time that's happened.

I actually had you name down on paper but when it came time to type it, I completely forgot. Your name has been added -- at the top of the list!

I blame Bradshaw for everything that's happened. The boards went down right when WGs was getting touched up by two different writers.

Once again, huge props go out to Papacita for the awesome graphics. Everybody did a helluva job as well.

I've only scanned the show, but major thanks go to Northstar for finishing the War Games. He had assisted in "fleshing out" the second portion of the match as it built to the finish, which was my department to cover. I got online last night post GAB (yeah, I know...) and finished the match up, putting 45 minutes of work into winding it down and capping it off. Then what happens? The board goes down, and my post (in GCF) with it. Needing to get to bed since I had to be at school (my teacher's assistant job started this week) for 8:30, I saved the file on my comp with plans of putting it on in the morning if I had a chance, or at the latest, at night tonight. Then I come online today and find that he finished the match, thus saving my ass and making you not have to wait any longer for everyone's efforts. So give NS a hand, he deserves it.

Yeah...if I could get feedback in particular for my match that'd be nice, because I wasn't too sure about some parts.

Other than that, from what I've scanned through personally, it looks to be another great PPV and WarGheymes was teh awesome~.

KC, I loved the match. I was into the action all the way through, and once again, you handled Panther's involvement perfectly. I thought you did a great job.

As for Dama, I enjoyed the Gauntlet Match as well. I'm not sure what to make of the ending, though. Not that it was bad or anything, but it seemed like maybe Smith let Dama off the hook kinda easily considering all the bad blood between them. Plus, I was kinda hoping that Dama would attack him or something in the end (that's just the heel in me, I guess). Still, I liked the match a lot.

Haven't read the whole show yet, but I've liked everything I've read so far. WarGheymes was pretty funny as was the stuff with the Saints. I liked Drek/Cappa too. If I'm not too lazy, I'll give a little more feedback once I've read everything.

The most detailed feedback I've ever done.

The opening was cool IMO. It was simple and effective. The graphics were handled well; it looked like it belong there, not tacked on to any place.

The Saints-GPX match has been explained. I wanted to put over GPX's clear focus while keeping the fun-natured aspect of their characters.

WarGhyemes has also been explained. Fun read. As I've said, the pic of Gorilla & Comic Book Guy AS was gold.

I've only scanned the Smith-Cult of Damaurama match but it looked very soild. And he turned it in before WarGames! Take credit in that my friend. :)

The Saints promo was whacky. A cameo by OAOAST head trainer and physician Dr. Ima Hoe, Futurama references, dick jokes -- beautiful. "Little Zoidbergs..."

Much like Smith/COD, I've only scanned through Bryte/Lodez but I liked what I read. Then again, if you're looking for match ratings and whatnot, I'm not the one to look for. It's an entertainment based system with me.

The Stevens promo was strong. I laughed at this:

COACH

Folks, just to clarify, that wasn't Gangrel.

CABOOSE

WHAT? Moron, we don't know WHO it was!

COACH

Yeah, but to clarify for our fans reading at--

Cole shoots Coach a hard, angry glare.

COACH

!! I mean our fans listening on radio, yeah! But anyway, no, not Gangrel.

Popick did a better job with TBS than I expected. Stephen continues to build apon his storyline.

Stone-Cappa was another soild match. I thought the ending was terrific -- the destruction of the PR title and beatdown on Cappa. Does that mean the PR title is finished?

Oh yeah, baby! Finally the New New Midnight Express debuted. Loved the Cornette promo (even in an e-fed the Rock 'N' Roll Express get cheapshotted). Wait a minute... I wrote it. It provide the backstory for the upcoming tag title match between NNMX/BT.

Like the Stevens promo, the one for Chris Bryte was handled well. The disappointment turned into anger and eventually an attack -- be it a push -- on a woman. You some it's on when a lady take a fall. :)

Eskimo did a fine job writing the tag title match. The closing sequence was well done.

I think it was the first time the X-Division title was the second to last match. I know that story meant a lot to LPYC, and he was rewarded. Hope you liked the gesture LP.

As for WarGames... I haven't had time to read it yet (thanks to all that happened last night) -- only the finish, which I liked.

I don't think it tops last years GAB but it was a great effort by all.

FYI: Popick's handling the show next month.

Well you have to look at the history. They used to be best friends. Ryan Smith still has the soft spot deep down in his heart for his friend. He even said it originally when he came in that he was trying to redeem his friend and later he said that he wasn't but deep in his heart he didn't believe it. He always thought he could somehow get his friend back in the end and when Dama started begging he had no choice but to believe him on the strength of there previous friendship. If things stay peachy though.....that remains to be seen.

I'm not calling out anybody personally, but I really can't understand the mentality of "Feedback my match, but I have no plans to feedback yours." To me, it's just common courtesy to comment on somebody's matches if you're expecting them to give you comments as well. We all appreciate reading the opinions other OAOAST members had about our matches, but it's really time to come to the realization that it's just as important to give feedback so OTHERS have something to read and enjoy for their hard work.

With that out of the way....

Papacita, as always, GREAT job on the graphics. Just awesome.

The Saints vs. Global Party Exchange - Short match, but good while it lasted. The direction of this contest was exactly the kind of thing that needed to be done to boost the credibility of GPX. While I was a little disappointed to see The Saints lose so easily - I've become a fan in the past few weeks - it's definitely understandable, considering they had a case of "Little Zoidbergs." :).

War Gheymes - Very fun read. The beginning picture of Gorilla Monsoon and Anglesault was gold, and I loved the appearances of Paul Barron and the Underschaffer. I'm hoping the Fonz will have something in store as retaliation for the screwjob he received at the Bash. Again, this was really entertaining.

Ryan Smith vs. The Cult of Damaramu - At first, I was really feeling the story of the match. Ryan's mean streak, with his complete destruction of Skull Kid and strong determination towards Skull Mask, was actually working really well. Unfortunately, I just wasn't feeling the ending of the match. For all the damage these two men put themselves though, it seems weird that Dama would immediately give up and ask for forgiveness after Smith holds a lead pipe over his head. But not only is it strange that Dama was apologize so quickly, but it's weird that Smith would accept it so readily. The reconciliation of these two men just seemed to come out of nowhere and, to me, it didn't feel right. It was a very nice way to end the feud, and I certainly understand where you were trying to go for it, but it just seems like the execution fell a little flat. The apologies just happened way too soon and way too easily for a feud that has lasted so long and has been so intense.

Chris Bryte vs. Leon Rodez - Awesome action in this match. Leon wound up looking like a huge badass by overcoming both Bryte and the Hand the way he did. The back-and-forth nature of this contest just made it so exciting to read and, although I had predicted it, I was glad to see another appearance from Panther. I really liked Bryte flipping out afterwards on Miss Jackie afterwards, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing the Bryte/Panther confrontation on Thursday.

The Body Shop - It's good to see that, even in the absence of Tha Puerto Rican, that the Popick/PR alliance has not been forgotten yet. While this segment didn't exactly establish anything new, it still accomplished its purpose of building upon the partnership between these two men and just what could happen in the future.

Black T vs. Jingus/Sadist - Really entertaining match. I liked the opening sequence with Jivin JR distracting Jingus and the Sadist, allowing Black T to make the sneak attack with the steel chairs. The match was very well-written with all of the exciting near-falls, and I enjoyed the crazy ending sequence with T-Bod just managing to fall on Jingus. It's great that Black T continues to be the team to beat in the Tag Division.

Rick Edwards vs. The Parka - Another great match. Not only was the action in the match very exciting, but all the existing subplots between Rick, Parka, Cain, and Eddy made for some really interesting confrontations. LPYC did an excellent job building up for this match this month, and I can now see why he's written so many segments the past few weeks. Again, this match was just REALLY well-done, so huge props for that.

WAR GAMES - Such a long match to read, but it was definitely worth it. This did a tremendous job of capturing all the feuds that had been built up in the past few weeks and months, and using them to increase the intensity of the match. All of th action in the contest was great, and even the little things like the minor staredown between Hoff and Gibraltar....and the angry wait from AJ Flaire.....did so much to improve the quality of the match. I loved that Crystal was able to finally make Zack tap out cleanly at the end of the match, since it just seemed to make all the weeks of torment she had sufferee from Thrillogy finally worth it. I'm looking forward to seeing where all these wrestlers branch out following War Games. Excellent Main Event.

Feedback on the Drek Stone/Mad Cappa No-Holds-Barred match will - of course - be GREATLY appreciated!

The reason it happened so fast is all based around the backstory pretty much. They were best friends but something changed Damaramu in Japan. Ryan Smith still wanted his friend back and he was still trying to save Damaramu even to the very end. Smith went all intense and evil like Damaramu and at the end when he's holding the lead pipe over Dama's head just as Dama has done to him in the past Dama realized what he'd done and it just snapped inside his head and he started begging for forgiveness. Ryan Smith wanting to save Damaramu stood there and finally cracked as he believed he had his friend back.

It's pretty much the power of friendship. Damaramu was the best friend that Ryan Smith ever had. And when Dama changed it broke Ryan Smith's heart. He went on his quest to bring Dama back, weathering all the abuse possible in an attempt to redeem his friend that he knew was still buried in there. And when he saw Damaramu on his knees begging for forgiveness he knew that he had his friend back. That connection was already there and it was rekindled in that moment in time.

That's why it makes perfect sense to me. You just gotta know the backstory. They will explain all on Thursday.

...don't ask.

FEEDBACK~!

This for me was a really brutal PPV, in a good way. Seemed the theme of the night was violence. The term "summer of blood" phrased it very neatly, as I doubt we've seen said violence reach its peak, but man. This show was tough and raw and chaotic and manic, and just fun to read.

And no Bradshaw, w00t.

- The dueling quotes at the beginning were fun. :D

- Opening with entrance music! I love it. No talking, no announcers, nothing, just straight in. CHAOTIC. Props to Tony (or whoever) for placing the Saints/GPX thusly to achieve said effect. Anyway, nice little fun squash. Maybe even a little short EVEN for a squash, but a fun read and a hot, fan-happy start to the show.

- Wargheyms...what can even be said. I was skeptical of having this and the "real" WG match on the same show, but it was great. I liked that it was early; it even served a purpose by detailing the WG rules. Anyway, "Paul Barron" was great, and I laughed my way through this. Frigid is totally insane and I love his work 1000% as always, but Paul Barron and OMG TEH UNDERSCHAFFER returns! Fun. I genuinely pray that Stephen, when he sees this, won't be too upset because it wasn't meant to hurt anyone and it was just plain FUN.

"Scott Baio pulls out his Willie, grabs him by the shins and walks towards Bobby." Amazing.

- Smith vs. Dama, actually, started off about how I expected. Mask being afraid was a nice little touch. I was surprised that Smith handled the Skulls so easy, but then not really, once I thought about it. The ending...well, it was a GREAT mark-out moment. Dama pulling the contacts out was neat, and I liked it a lot. The fans CHEERING for him was kinda surreal. Now, I do look forward to the xplanation onThursday, but for now a big thumbs-up to Dama.

- Bryte vs. Rodez rocked my boxors. I liked the use of the second ring. Great back and forth match. I loved, LOVED that Panther's interference (and, if I may, omg I STILL mark for Panther) DIDN'T directly lead to the finish, but that it DID throw Bryte off his game. Great psychology for both the match and the Panther/Bryte feud, plus it did a lot to establish Rodez. It's nice to have KC aboard.

- It's NOT Gangrel. More to come.

- TBS was good. It served its purpose. I don't know where it's all LEADING, but SJ is being very dark and mysterious about this whole thing. I really, really look forward to PR's return.

- Mad Cappa vs. Drek Stone. This is THE MATCH that people will look back at and say "Drek Stone FUCKING ARRIVED." He kicked out of God Jesus Buddha everything and won. Cappa looked good too, which was the great part. This was a SICK match. just brutal and I loved it. And the ending? To paraphrase, "fuggetabawtit." I don't even KNOW where the belt thing is going, but Drek going from hot-tempered to cold and calculated in an instant sent a chill down my spine. Drek (and more to the point, NYU) is FOR REAL. I love it. Love it.

- The NNMX. Well, I was never a fan of Cornette's, but this WILL bring another dimension, another type of team to the blossoming tag divison, and so I am all for it.

- Bryte going insane with rage was GREAT. The "Uncle Kev" stuff is always funny, but the tenor quickly turned serious. And PANTHER! He better show. :) But seriously, this was a strong promo that hammered Bryte's frustration home.

- Black T vs. JINGUS and the Sadist. Cole is a gay rapist! Heh. I always like Sadist stuff because it's so unique. Early Mankind but a step further. But this made Black T look like stars again by just hitting J&S with everything until they stayed down.

- GPX seemed more focused like Tony said, which was cool. Showed in the promo. I did like the SBTB nod and the joke about the blue belts (we should have used the other ones dammit!). Short, crisp promo.

- I was WRONG about the X Title mystery opponent (I won't say who I thought it was, so don't ask), but pleasantly surprised. Most of The Parka's stuff was before my time, so it was neat to see him so well-regarded. I didn't get the whole deal with Eddy Kalm (there may be some backstory I'm missing, or something I just read wrong), other than that Cain is a dick, BUT I liked the match. Kinda short but not too short at all, and the psychology with the nose was coo! And I liked that Rick DID leave with Cain and JAE. It's good that he can still be a dick.

- Black T are piiimps! I loved the promo, the arrogance was great. Made me love to hate the champs even more. Nicely done.

- Cal's promo was the tits. He's always sharp with the tongue, and it was good to hear him speak up about shit.

- Wargames was "off the chain," to paraphrase Tazzzzz. The opening chicanery from Cal and Zack was great. The early portions were good, with just good WRESTLING from everyone involved. I loved all the double and triple teams. I liked that it started to break down, and I hope everyone liked the middle part, where the Thrillogy just started to take over and dominate. I'm glad to hear that people appreciated the Hoff/Gibraltar and AJ touches, because I was proud of those and hoping they'd be noticed. The end was great, some wild fun once everyone got in, and people started to drop, and Crystal tapping with AJ preventing the save was just such the right ending. It puts all the faces over, and give Crystal some momentum. Plus it ended on a happy note!

I'd like to thank everyone who commented on Wargames (especially the middle part! :D) and the Stevens promo so far. Any CRITICISMS (be not shy) are appreciated...but if you have nothing bad to say, don't. :)

All right, enough smileys from me. Great show from everyone, and worth the wait.

Because I love receiving credit... Yes, it was my idea to open the show with GPX's theme kicking in. I try to shake up the format when I'm "directing" the shows, and it's one of the few things that hadn't been done yet.

Unlike GPX the Saints don't come out with their music blasting (i.e., showing their lyrics) but the lyrics really fit with the later revelation of the groupies being tampered.

The Midnights debut was two months in the making. I felt like I was paying too much attention to them instead of The Saints, but everything worked out in the end.

The addition of NNMX gives the tag division actual wrestlers. When you look at the current teams, none of them are straight out wrestlers. Black T would be the closest thing. But like you said, they'll bring another dimension.

The tag division will be burning up the OAOAST in the next few months. Eskimo & I are excited about it.

So give NS a hand, he deserves it.

Get off my nuts.

It should be noted that although the second half of the match (When AJ comes in) was finished over a period of five or six hours, I actually only spent twenty minutes writing it. Maybe less.

I genuinely pray that Stephen, when he sees this, won't be too upset because it wasn't meant to hurt anyone and it was just plain FUN.

During the Gang Wars when insults went-uh-flying back and forth he actually gave permission for characters like the UnderSchaeffer to be around. I think it was in the thread where the title is "I can't insult people randomly". He may have said he no longer cared about stuff like this in the heat of a moment but I'll be damned if it didn't allow me to make an old man Undertaker.

Thanks for the positive thoughts on the tag title match. Some feed from me:

Graphics: As has been said, great work as usual. I wasn't expecting the Black T graphic and marked out a little for that :)

Saints vs. GPX: Poor Saints. A good old fashioned squash to pop the crowd and get everything going. I have a feeling the Saints aren't done just yet though.

Wargheymes: Any match featuring MR.WARRIOR is fine with me. Liked the Barron appearance too.

Gauntlet: Very intense. Smith looks great here destroying the Cult members and Dama destroying them after their defeats was cool. Smith-Dama was a good hard brawl, the ending surprised me as it did others but will be interesting to see what happens next.

-"Little Zoidbergs" was great :D

Bryte vs Lodez: I wasn't paying attention when I first read stuff with The Hand on HD, and I somehow thought he was Bryte's hand with it's own personality. So yeah, in summary, I am stupid. This match, on the other Hand, was not. I really got into the flow of this, the strikes were stiff, both men busted out plenty of big moves and I was buying the near falls towards the end. If I had to make a criticism it would be that Lodez's injured leg suddenly vanished from the psychology after the Panther run in, but I dont care too much about that.

-Body Shop was short, snappy and to the point. Will be fun to see SJ's new force in action.

Stone vs. Cappa: More high impact stuff, Drek looking like a MANLY MAN~! Stone has main events in his future, I'm sure. Some sick moves in here- German suplex onto the ramp, the big hip toss, moonsault onto the chair- that added a bit extra to the match. Awesome finish too. and Drek's post match attack makes him look even more EVIL~!

- The Jim Cornette promo was great. Tune into HeldDown for Black T vs NNMX~!

- Good Bryte promo too, and I'll look forward to Bryte-Panther

Black T vs. JINGUS & Sadist: J&S are being modelled to be the OAOAST's version of the Road Warriors (hence the Doomsday Device in the match). On re-reading I would have had Black T cheat a little more to win, but I want to keep putting the champs over strong. J&S are far from finished however, as will be seen on HeldDown...

- Funny GPX skit. Stay away from the Black T groupies, guys...

Rick Edwards vs. Parka: Good to see Parka back, even he had to do the j-o-b. Solid match, nice finishing sequence. Will be interesting to see if Parka sticks around now.

- Fun BT skit. Dan and T.Bod are living it up, while Jivin' JR sure loves his farmyard friends.

-Short, angry promo from Calvin. Seems like the Thrillogy might have some problems with SJ and his new group.

WARGAMES: Excellent work. Crystal taking such a beating and still getting the win was really dramatic. I liked that there was plenty of wrestling going down and not just spots. There's plenty of matches still to be between everyone involved in this match.

Overall, solid from top to bottom with some great moments. I don't have a great memory for PPV's, but I'd probably have this ranking pretty high.

Hey I'm back and I'll try to do detailed feedback soon.

Hoff: Eddy was Parka's manager. That's why Rick thought it was a set up.

Sorry if anyone was disappointed by the mystery opponent, but it's necessary to the storyline and it will make sense soon.

Oh and Tony thank you for putting my match later in the show. I didn't mean you had to put it next to last. I just didn't want to start out the show, but thank you again.
