Well this is grand. You guys made Marney leave by pulling some childish crap. I know this because Banky, man of whatever username suits his fancy at the given hour, author of quality threads along the lines of "Suck my dick" and "you guys are all losers," is gloating about how she's gone because she "took herself too seriously," says the guy who shamelessly spammed the board last autumn. If she's really gone, Current Events is taking a big hit. Glad you're content, Mr. Content. (Some pun.)

-iB-, whether Gheyme or not, is out of here. glennsoe is gone, and Man Of 1,004 Modes followed suit as well. Now I'm not going to miss glennsoe because he was barely above spam. But did the other two get banned just for "sucking"? Now don't get the wrong idea. Sucking is not good. Some would consider it bad. But is sucking a bannable offense? I've probably made more posts containing objectionable content than they ever did.

 

I'm just not sure if I like the direction the board seems to be heading at the moment, where we're lining up the posters we don't like for whatever reason and banning them, forcing them out, or what have you. What's next? A mod edits somebody's post, sticks in a picture of a dead fetus, then another one jumps in to ban the poster? All discussion of the incident is closed? "Sorry, but we have a zero-tolerance rule for this, and (insert name) just happened to violate it. Let's move on." This hard-on for banning that we seem to be enjoying is hopefully a short phase and we won't seriously pursue voting people out, or deciding who hasn't produced enough material.

 

I don't think we should ban for sucking. I don't think we should run people out of town. All this talk from CWM about bannings and registration closings to make TSM a better place...I'm not 100% sold on it. Has Beau's banning increased the quality of the board? I'm not seeing it. Same good stuff, same crap. glennsoe's gone, what's the difference? Evidently other people still don't know what gets its own thread in WWE.

 

I don't know. If Marney's really gone, I'm upset. I just hope this whole situation corrects itself in a few days and we're not so obsessed with the power to cast people out of our communities. Do we all individually need to get the Ban Complex out of our systems or something? Here's what we can do: find a neighbor, invite him into your foyer, chat for a second, yell "GET OUTTA MY HOUSE!", push him out the door, and slam it in his face. Maybe this can act as some sort of catharsis, and we won't feel quite as inclined to call for somebody's head when they say something we don't like, or aren't saying quite enough. Just my two cents.

I have no idea what people's problem with Marney was. She was meaner than hell, and probably one of my favorite posters. She hardly got "ran off." You couldn't run her off with an battleaxe, because she is a much bigger one. She'll either post here or she won't, that's her decision, and all the "Fuck Marneys" and "I miss Marneys" aren't going to matter.

I don't really have a problem with the glennsoe or IB bannings. There are some serious questions about who IB really was so I can see his potential banning.

 

I can't say that I agree with the BBCW banning though. He could be a real dumbass at times but he could also bring the content in the wrestling folders when he wanted to. He was hardly ban worthy.

As much as I disliked BBCW, there was really no reason for his banning. Being unfunny really shouldn't be the proper grounds for a banning at TSM, and as much as it might pain me to say it, he didn't deserve to get kicked off the forums the way he did.

 

Glennsoe definitely should have been banned because he had been warned numerous times about starting unimportant WWE topics, yet still continued to do it. I have no problem with that.

 

-iB-........I'm on the fence with that one. If he was Game, then fine, I completely understand why he was banned. Otherwise, this looks to be the same banning case as it was with BBCW. There's no actual reason for his banning, other than his posts may not have been up to par with the posts from some others around here.

marney rarely posted in CE anymore anyway. mike, JotW and others have long since taken over. in the past few weeks all she did was spout off the occasional "you're an idiot" one-liner, which is not exactly BRINGING THA CONTENT~! so don't cry for her. she was already dead. and even when she was alive, she was a female version of chris coey anyway.

Marney chose to leave. I've done it before too. She can always come back just like I have, and just like everyone else does. Banky's Banky, you have to expect him to be an asshole.

 

I'm not a Marney fan, and yes I did mention her name more than a few times in the banning thread. But as far as I was concerned, and I told this to Tom after too, Marney didn't bother me nearly as much as a number of other people.

 

When she made that thread in feedback though, she opened herself to critiscm, and that's what happened.

They didn't get banned for sucking though Czech. Especially not IB, he had spammed Hardcore Discussion before in the past, started repeat threads a number of times, and trolled for reaction. BBCW did similar things, though I'd agree he was definetly the lesser of the two.

That kind of stuff isn't going to happen. This is still Dames's board. Dames, Sass, Zack, APO, etc all of them are great guys who don't do that kind of thing.
