You keep thinking "Tax the rich" means "Tax the guy from the 'Monopoly' board game".

Nah. Tax the rich means people who are approaching $100 million a year. A smidgen more to them means a hell of a lot more than a smidge to the people living near the bottom.

And I'm telling you --- to your face, right now --- that is not even CLOSE to who will be nailed with this tax hike Hillary supports.

well the democrats have said publicly on many occassions during the CURRENT CAMPAIGN, "the top 5%" so either they mean the top 5% or they are lying to everyone's face while will make their own graves and bury them, if they happen to get into power in november. I think it is safe to leave it at that, and stop pretending you magically heard that "rich" is 120k and up. When I heard Top 5%, the first thing that comes to my mind is probably most of the mutli-billion/million dollar global corporations that get out of any and all taxes. Their portion alone IF THEY FUCKING PAID IT, would do more for the tex revenue then taxing EVERYONE at the 120k level. I am not giving democrats a pass on this since they are just as guilty in not going after the corporations as the republicans are, but the fact of the matter is, if the government made the corporations pay their fair share, I don't think anyone would have to worry about some guys making 120k not paying enough.

But it doesn't work that way in execution. The government starts taxing you like your Mr. Moneybags when you hit the 120k range of income. So whenever someone starts talking about taxing "the rich" I never trust them to actually tax the rich. It's those people that make in the six figure low millions range that get totally screwed over by taxes going back up.

well since it hasn't ever been executed in recent history. Again, you are assuming that the Democrats are lying, which is understandable since they are politicians afterall, however all I am trying to say is that 120k does not fall into the "top 5%" group.

I'm not saying their lying but I think they underestimate how hard it is to actually get the kind of money they expect from the top brackets. My fear is when they don't get the money they want they'll transfer it onto the upper middle-class who already get fucked over by the current system.

well it's not that they can't, but so far they along with the republicans don't try and basically let the upper bracket use every trick in the book to try and make their entire income excempt. I have a hard time buying that they are actually trying too. I for once would like to see a politician actually get in there and go after the EXTREMELY wealthy for their tax revenue, and see how it plays out.

The tax codes tend to fall apart when someone makes over about 10 million. I think they serverely underestimate the resources the very top has. They're rich for a reason and most have made sidestepping taxes into a form of art. So my concern is when they don't get the results they like they'll punish the upper middle class for their miscalculations.

well they might have resources, but not more then the government. It might take some time, but they would get nailed eventually. Also wasn't one of the first things the Bush tax cut did, was ROLL BACK all the money the wealthy corporations paid over the past decade or so.......don't see how that was very helpful.

Hopefully when she does run for Prez., she tries to emulate RFK (being a NY Carpetbagger Senater and all) in every way possible, especially when she campaigns in California in the Democrat primary...

Corporations don't pay taxes. Period.

 

They simply PASS the expense to customers. You know, the poor people. All raising corporate tax rates does it cause an increase in prices.
