RavishingRickRudo Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 SoL. And you know what that means... *penguin noises*
Guest KJ Brackish Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 Funny, I rode a helicopter over there I heard that you can do that as well, but I've never been able to lock onto a helicopter with even just a basic web swing Meh.... I guess I have a new goal for today. KJ
Guest SpiderFan Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 After the Mysterio mission, you have to use the helicopters to get to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
Guest KJ Brackish Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 Oh, I thought those were just some robotic jackasses hovering there....... wierd. I guess I'd better look more closely now. KJ
Karnage Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 I just played the game and it's pretty fun so far. The graphics are ugly at times, but since they made New York so huge and I could move from place to place without no lag, I can't complain. Its pretty funny how they called Madison Square Garden "Metropolitan Arena".
Renegade Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 Does the game follow the story of the movie? And what villains are in it?
Guest SpiderFan Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 Pretty much follows the story of the movie, but they added some extra bits to pad out the length of the game a bit. Villians are Doc Ock, Mysterio, Rhino, Shocker, and you team up with Black Cat. I've heard Calypso is in too, in an extra after you finish the game where you get to fight all the bosses in a row for points, but I haven't done that part yet so I'm not positive if she is or not.
Lord of The Curry Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 What the Christ is up with the stupid whiny bitch saying "My balloon"?
Agent_Bond34 Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 What the Christ is up with the stupid whiny bitch saying "My balloon"? That's because she lost her balloon, and now she wants you to get the balloon for her. The balloon is the purple dot. Whether or not you get it, is all up to you. I usually ignore it because I'm usually swinging around to get to the next green dot to do a side-mission to get more hero points to get closer to completing whichever chapter I'm on. The whiny bitch saying "my balloon" and the crying are fucking annoying at times.
Guest KJ Brackish Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 I second the notion on the annoying girl part. I went to Game Crazy and looked at the strategy guide, and I didn't see anything about Calypso, but I did see the feature where you have a boss gauntlet for points. Looked pretty awesome. The last guy may be Calypso because it had a ??????? next to the last space. KJ
AndrewTS Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 "That's because she lost her balloon, and now she wants you to get the balloon for her. The balloon is the purple dot." ...I can't be the only person to suspect this would refer to something else.
Slayer Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 I bought it yesterday for PC, only $10 too at EB because I traded in two games And that's a good thing too, because I already beat it after five hours of steady play, since I decided the side missions were rather ghey, hence I just concentrated on the story line... which was kinda meh Plus after reading the Xbox Gamefaq, it looks like the PC version is nothing like the console version Ghey I'm taking it back for...something else
Guest SpiderFan Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 Yeah, I have a demo of the PC game, and it's very watered down and kiddified. Nothing at all like the console version.
Lightning Flik Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 Played it, beat it in less than 10 hours, and I'm absolutely displeased I bothered renting it today. Still a good game though.
Scroby Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Anyone actually working on finding all the Icons and getting all the awards in the game? I beat it and I'm just messing around trying to get all the awards and finding all the icons.
Use Your Illusion Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Rented it last night. I fucking hate this game. I don't know what it is, but I find controlling Spidey while he web-slings close to impossible. Chasing a getaway car is UNBELIEABLY frustrating and hard. The fighting and combo system is awesome, but that's it. Thumbs way the fuck down from Mr. Illusion Back to Blockbuster with this little monkey. UYI
The Mandarin Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Chasing a getaway car is UNBELIEABLY frustrating and hard. Really? Have you been playing it on the normal swinging mode? I've been playing it on easy (one-button swinging) and it's not difficult at all. If you don't want to swing after the car, just sprint, then power jump until you land on the roof.
Downhome Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 What is the fun in playing it on easy with the one-buttone swinging?
Guest SpiderFan Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Anyone actually working on finding all the Icons and getting all the awards in the game? I beat it and I'm just messing around trying to get all the awards and finding all the icons. I've been working on getting everything. I've got most of the crime awards (just need to do a few more boat missions) and about half of the tokens. Hopefully I can be done by the end of the week. Chasing a getaway car is UNBELIEABLY frustrating and hard Did you try jumping off the web before shooting another? That makes swinging alot easier.
Exslade ZX Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Rented it last night. UYI Wow. Heh, I love the webswinging, I figured it was fairly easy. I'm like a champion swinger now . And the chasing the getaway...how is that hard exactly, they're not going to fast, so if you don't feel like swinging you could run to it. Just jump on top of it, and repeatedly beat it, you don't even really have to dodge bullets. Of course I found out if you jump to far you get hit by the car...but still that doesn't take much health.
Scroby Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 That sucks you get so frurstatred so easily UYI, so far your the only one who has complained about movement, and that goes for everyone on this board and everyone who has played/bought this game who've come through my store. Its extremely easy and I don't understand why your having problems.
Use Your Illusion Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Because any game I'm not good at must suck, that's why, junior. In all seriousness, I played it a bit before taking it back today and I actually did begin to get the hang of swinging. I began using the L2 button while doing it to really fly in between buildings etc. However, I can't help but feel that I'm not controlling Spider-Man, I'm controlling his un-coordinated retard twin brother. But like I said before, the fight scenes and movesets are UNREAL. Totally fucking awesome. UYI
Scroby Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Oh ok, well thats good you got the hang of it. Yeah actually the PS2's controller is pretty fucked up for this game. I treid both on Xbox and PS2 and Xbox's controller is completely easier to use than the PS2's. L is your speed and R is your webslinging, simple.
Agent_Bond34 Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 After playing the Xbox version at Best Buy, I agree, the Xbox controller is easier to use for this game, than the PS2 controller is.
Guest combat_rock Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 That's odd, because I almost always find the PS2 controller easier to use. If I would've thought to try the Xbox one, I might have gotten that, since I'm sure it has slightly better graphics.
Agent_Bond34 Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 (edited) I would've thought to try the Xbox version initially, but, my Hollywood Video only had the PS2 version available at the time, since all five copies of it for Xbox were gone before I got there. Edited July 9, 2004 by Agent_Bond34
Guest SP-1 Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I got to play it on GameCube and was impressed. I'm too lazy to investigate myself so can someone tell me if it's on PC?
Scroby Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 Basically it's just going from level to level in the PC while on console you can go and do whatever you want.
Slayer Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 I got to play it on GameCube and was impressed. I'm too lazy to investigate myself so can someone tell me if it's on PC? *points to post above* Update though: I took it back to EB and traded it in for another game, and the cashier said he'd heard about the difference from other people too. The giveaway to him was the fact the PC version is rated E while the consoles are rated T. In short, the PC version sucked a fat one. I'd really like to check out the console version, but alas I have no consoles.
Scroby Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 You know Slayer, the avatar does a good job at pointing at the post above. You should just type at "Look at Avatar" instead of saying look at the post above. But yeah I think this is one of those few times that the PC gets the short end of the stick.
