Benoit vs HHH

Alright, the big title match or matches are almost here. These two are slated to face off in less than two weeks, and then possibly again at Summerslam. Benoit's gonna drop the strap back to H, and I'm one of the few who does'nt really have a problem with that. I've really been looking forward to the one on one PPV matches these two were gonna have, and had high hopes that they could turn into classics. However, with the E's insistance on interjecting Eugene into the storyline, I'm now extremely sceptical. I really thought Benoit and H had the opportunity to have one hell of a match, but how are we to fully get into the WRESTLING MATCH when there's a guy running around the ring pretending to be retarted????

 

 

I now am convinced that there's gonna be some kind of schmozz next week at the PPV, and than "dear god please let me be wrong" at Summerslam, we get the rematch with, (the horror) special guest ref - Eugene. Again, I ask, how in the hell can you have a classic wrestling match with a guy pretending to be RETARTED running around acting like a, well, retard.

HHH getting the belt back is a horrible thing. The belt instantly goes back to not meaning a thing when he gets it. It happened after the Goldberg reign and it'll be even worse this time. It probably will also lead to HBK wanting his millionth shot after finishing off Kane's credibility when he comes back. And Lord knows their feud was only just warming up by the time Bad Blood rolled around. And we also go back to HHH has beaten everyone and has no one to feud with boring tired ME we've had since the fall of 2002.

 

My only question is how bad a burial this is going to be of Benoit.

Well, HHH said that they're gonna use Eugene until he helps them get the title at Vengeance and then they're done with him. That would probably mean that HHH will win the title back due to Eugene's interference at Vengeance, and then there will be a clean blowoff at Summerslam where Benoit likely gets the title back.

 

By that time, Eugene should be angry enough that he won't be content for "special referee" gigs, and he'll be actively trying to destroy Evolution. If I were to guess, I'd say he faces Flair at Vengeance because he wants to face a legend, and he has booking powers next Monday. Then, at Summerslam, he'll take on either Batista or Orton. In fact, I think it's likely that Orton's gonna retain over Edge at Vengeance in order to keep the belt warm for Eugene.

What will probably happen is a DQ finish caused by Eugene or due to interference by Evolution. That will set the rematch for Summerslam with a special stipulation,

which HHH will probably win (since he can't win a normal match, the fuck).

Since he's started this stuff with Eugene, I've actually gone back to hating him the way I did during his angle with Foley a few years ago. It's not AS bad.

The Eugene angle has furthered my disinterest towards the WWF. I really really liked the angle until last week. Basically Rudo's opinion of why it now sucks is exactly how I feel and it just further makes me think that everything that gets over on Raw gets fed to HHH.

I'd just like to add that I'm not overjoyed that H is getting his belt back, or that Benoit has to job it to him. It's just that I understood it to be inevitable from the get-go, so I'm not as bitter about it I guess. If it were up to me, I'd have Benoit hold the strap until at leas Survivor Series or the rumble, and probably drop it Jericho. But that's about 98% certain not to happen, as they feel H has to have the title back, which is bullshit. His loss at Mania proved that his heat ain't going away if he loses every once in awhile.

I think he could do a lot of good helping out the rest of the roster without having the belt, and he would'nt even have to job much more than he already is.

 

I will say that if he jobs CLEANLY to Benoit next sunday before lifting the title at Slam, I will feel A LOT better about Benoit's long-term status as a top guy.

Aside from a rumored card making the rounds on the internet, I don't think anything has been confirmed for SummerSlam aside from the location.

HHH winning the title back is fine... because there aren't many other top level heels to take the title from Benoit. There will always be complaints, but I think the Benoit title reign has been handled well. Clean wins over HHH, HBK, and Kane on TV, PPV, and house shows is nothing to be mad over. Sure, the HHH/HBK program was put over Benoit/Kane ... but it was the supposed blowoff to a feud that's been going on for a couple of years in a Hell in a Cell ... compared to Benoit facing a challenger who won a battle royal on Raw. HHH/HBK SHOULD have been the main at Bad Blood. And HHH is the only guy ready to hold the World title if they want to take it off of Benoit.

 

As far as Orton goes... until they are ready to push him to the World title level, I say keep the IC belt on him. Keep it on him atleast until January, so he can have the year-long reign. He shouldn't drop it to Eugene, because the Eugene character will run its course very quickly and they don't need to hotshot any belts onto him. His in-ring work has been less than impressive because he still acts like a tard while wrestling. A double axehandle off the top was barely a believable finisher for Savage in the 80's... infact it was just a setup move for the elbowdrop. It's cute to see him use the Stunner or Rock Bottom... but he can't keep using them forever. He needs the complete transition from tard to wrestling machine while he's in the ring, or the gimmick won't work out.

(which he probably will)? Is he going to feud with a heel Edge (if they decide to go with the heel turn), Flair or Batista?

 

The other thing to consider is who will be HHH's top challenger after SS.

I think the reason everyone was complaining was that Benoit was that he wasn't being booked as a champion, but as a guy holding a title. Benoit was also being booked in matches against La Rez and wasn't in the ME. That was probably due to

Cripple h saying that Benoit wasn't charismatic enough (blah,blah). I don't know about the rest of you, but the show,as well as the PPV's should revolve around the title (in theory) .

HHH is the most over full time Heel the WWE has at it's disposal. Heel Chamions are more entertaining IMHO. I perfer to see the face chasing the heel.

 

Wether or not anyone here likes it, HHH is the future (and present) of the WWE and we should just get used to it. At least he's putting an effort in more often.

Triple H getting the title back would just be pointless going in circles booking that has plagued WWE the last few years. It's the same old formula.

I don't think HHH is the one putting himself into the top slot neccasarly. Vince obviously has a thing for his character and seees HHH as THE man for the company.

 

Also, I don't think he's really overshadowing Benoit that much. Benoit made him tap out, Benoit made HBK tap out, Benoit made Kane tape out.

 

I think Benoit's been doing just fine. I don't think Benoit is the type of guy that a show should revolve around like it has when HHH was the champ. Benoit is just not charismatic enough outside of the ring.

 

I'm just happy to see longer matches and to see them building the show one week at a time. Aside from the Lita storyline I don't have a single major issue with Raw.
