strummer Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Found this at lordsofpain. I assume it's legit. "Last night on Raw three of the contestants who have moved into the semi-finals appeared to showcase themselves and promote the “Casting Special” this Thursday night on Spike TV. According to numerous sources, several of the girls who are in the semi-finals for this have expressed displeasure with the appearance of Candice Michelle Beckman, Carmella Decesare and Nina Hardin on last night’s edition of the show. None of the girls involved with the contest who did not appear on Raw were contacted or informed prior to what aired yesterday. Many of the talent featured as semi-finalists know one another, and are surprised and dismayed that the three were given air time. One agency representative, name and firm withheld by request, when contacted concerning these reports and rumors went on record to say “I am sure it is just a misunderstanding between some of the girls and the WWE regarding last night’s show. I am sure everyone is extremely excited about this Thursday’s show on Spike TV.” We at Lordsofpain.net have offered complete anonymity to all parties involved as not to affect their chances on Thursday and in upcoming weeks. Still, if there is displeasure within the ranks of the semi-finalists it could call into question the validity of the chosen finalists on this Thursday’s Casting Special. Many are expressing concern over the fact that Candice and Nina are represented by the same agent, one who has a previous standing relationship with the WWE. Also, speculation has it that Carmella, who was the 2004 Playboy Playmate of the Year, was coached on how to act during her appearance. This rumor has led some involved to believe that Carmella might already have the contest locked in place before the finalists are even chosen. The WWE has a long-standing working relationship with Playboy, which adds substance to the possibility she is already the “Chosen one.” The Diva’s Search has been fueled almost entirely by professional models and actresses, as previously reported, and many of them are supposedly unhappy with the unprofessional way the WWE has handled their selves. It has reached a point where one rumor reads that some are questioning sabotaging them selves on air to be removed with some degree of grace. According to all reports at least two prominent contestants are already thinking of backing out. Signed nondisclosure agreements prevent any of the girls from going on record regarding their displeasures, but it is becoming readily apparent that if one of the larger name talents walks away (Which according to one source is more likely than not) from the project, she will take other displeased members of the group with her. The validity of the search notwithstanding, some have expressed that the attitude and professionalism of the company in this matter has been lacking. There is fear that some of the more notable contestants involved could be exploited for their previous work and then unceremoniously cut. If there is no chance that one could win the contest, the celebrities in the running do not wish to have their names used to promote both the company and the new star the Diva Search will make. Rumor has it that as of this morning, the WWE was scrambling to appease some of the parties whom had expressed concern. Another fear is the risk of losing on the show, which could be potentially damaging to a model or actresses career. Until more sources can be reached and asked to comment on the situation much of this story will have to be treated as a rumor. Still, we at Lordsofpain.net have spoken to sources that have confirmed both the gravity and soundness of the story, though for obvious reasons none were willing to expose themselves. At this time, the WWE could not be reached for comment regarding this issue. We here at Lordsofpain.net will continue to follow this matter as it unfolds." Steven Schaeffer
Exslade ZX Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I'm pretty sure like months before...it was already announced that like Carmell Decesare or however you spell it was supposed to win.
Guest Coffey Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 ...and she should. She's the hottest, and obviously WWE doesn't care about wrestling talent. Work or not she would still win.
Youth N Asia Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I tape Raw cause I'm usually asleep when it's on...I just fast forward all the "dive" segments, I have no idea what's going on.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I thought they were doing polls for this though? So what happens if a lot of fans happen to take to som....... ok ok stupid question as I already know the answer. Nice to know this is a big fucking waste of time. Why even bother with letting the fans vote when you're just gimmicking it anyways?
KingPK Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 The validity of the search notwithstanding, some have expressed that the attitude and professionalism of the company in this matter has been lacking. They expected WWE to treat this like the Miss America pageant or something? Have they been WATCHING this company for the last 5 years? And Carmella's pretty hot, but I would put being Playmate of the Year over some crappy WWE diva gig. She's not going to wrestle (at least, I pray she doesn't), apparently she can't act, and most everyone has already seen her naked, twice. How the hell are they going to use her?
AndrewTS Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 "I am sure everyone is extremely excited about this Thursday’s show on Spike TV.” Pray for Jericho to bring the funny, smart guy. Caramello will win, because it has been a work from the start. Miss America semi-finalists are all asked to simulate oral sex with a banana, right?

Well, you could ask Dawn Marie, Sable, Torrie Wilson, Stacy Karter, Terri Runnels, Sunny, Nidia, Miss Elizabeth, Stacy Kiebler and every other non-wrestling "diva" that WW(F)E has employed.... I mean, shit, Torrie Wilson & Sable are still around doing nothing and they've both been seen naked twice....
2GOLD Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 And Carmella's pretty hot, but I would put being Playmate of the Year over some crappy WWE diva gig. I'm pretty sure Vince has some ideas. Like her becoming his personal ball washer.
Guest Dazed Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Nice to know this is a big fucking waste of time. Why even bother with letting the fans vote when you're just gimmicking it anyways? To increase fan attention and participation. The idea being that if people think they can have an effect on the outcome, they will pay more attention and look forward to the segments / shows. Of course, if it is worked and they are profiting from phone votes, then that's a whole legal minefield that they shouldn't get into. Working this sort of contest is typical WWE though. I'm sure I read that McMahon once worked a boxing match, but I think Scott Keith wrote that.
Dark Age Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 More well known names? Larger name talent? Celebrities? Do we even know who these girls are? Seriously, don't try and kid su that these women actually mean something. I think there is probably about one person who people MAY have heard of before this crap.

I'm sure I read that McMahon once worked a boxing match, but I think Scott Keith wrote that. I can see that idea but only if it was a legit contest. If it's worked you run the risk of alientating the whole audience. Say the whole audience takes to someone who isn't the Playmate, what happens then. When everyone else votes for this unknown and the Playmate wins this could cause some serious problems with the audience.
AndrewTS Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I think you're really overlooking the name value of "Stacy's Sister." Kitana Baker and that blonde girl seriously had more name value, status, and better looks than any of the girls in the contest, and that was a big waste of time too. Say the whole audience takes to someone who isn't the Playmate, what happens then. When everyone else votes for this unknown and the Playmate wins this could cause some serious problems with the audience. Why would they care enough to be upset? How would they know would should have been the real winner?

But Sunny and Elizabeth actually did bring something to the table in their roles.

If you subscribe to the Cyber Club, you've seen her naked three times - she was a Cyber Girl of the Week. Personally I think she's the hottest PMOY in some time. Not that that has anything to do with pro wrestling, mind you. And as for what might derail her chances of winning... well, she's not a pneumatic blonde. The WWE doesn't have enough of those, although Bobbi Billard might contend otherwise...
starvenger Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I'm pretty sure Vince has some ideas. Like her becoming his personal ball washer. Wouldn't that piss off Pat Patterson though?
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Why would they care enough to be upset? How would they know would should have been the real winner? It wouldn't be that hard to figure out something fishy was going on. Crowd reaction would be a hard thing to cover up. JR can't just go "well it's a really split crowd" because no one ever believes it. And I don't think anything will happen because I think by the end of this most people are going have wanted it over with for a long time and just shit on everything.

strummer Posted July 14, 2004 Author Report Posted July 14, 2004 Oh and I noticed that almost every pic promoting the contest on wwe.com is of Carmella. She has been the face of the contest for the company.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Maybe this whole contest is a way to rehire Torriberg..........
Guest Repo Man Reborn Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 If I cared any less about this, my head would cave in.
AndrewTS Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I still think Diva Brawl 4 All would have been a much better idea...
Guest Gathering Moss Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Yeah maybe the divas would bleed, right AndrewTS?

I'm not saying that there aren't any other types in the WWE, but they've already got 3 pneumatic blondes (although I'll admit to being a Trish fan), ya know? Not that I have anything against boobs or blondes either. It's just that both the WWE and Playboy have a fetish for them (although I'm impressed that Playboy has had two consecutive PMOY that are neither, um, top heavy nor blonde). Also, there's not gonna be a Chyna created out of this, so really, no harm done besides wasting our time with chicks in skimpy clothes, right?
AndrewTS Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Yeah maybe the divas would bleed, right AndrewTS? With boxing gloves on and the way they'd probably hit, it'd be pathetic if they did.
Guest Staravenger Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I think everyone assumed this was a work the second Vince McMahon uttered the words. If not, the entire wrestling world could vote for the ugliest chick, or the one that might have wrestling talent.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Did anyone else hear the growing boos during Raw when they did their Diva segments Even the Ringside fans are growing tired of wasting segments of wrestling on women who won't be wrestling nor will probably not be seen again after this silly diva crap is over. The loudest cheer was of course Lawler. the rest was few cheers of the horny, silence of the majority and boos from the rest.
