2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 Joan gets a nod over THE SHIELD and Nip/Tuck? Kiss my shiny metal ass In fact, where is the love for Nip/Tuck? Where is the love for THE SHIELD? These nods are bull. And John Ritter? Come on, he was in two episodes if that. Just rename the award after him. Don't give him a pity nod, his memory deserves better than that. Anthony LaPaglia as Jack Malone YES YES YES! I hope to god that Spader wins. Alan Shore is the greatest character on TV. Oh, and William Shatner was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his Denny Crane character in the Practice. These two are slam-dunk winners as far as I'm concerned. starvenger 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 And what is with the West Wing love? I never liked that show, it was too, I don't know, dumb? Sometimes shows get an automatic "bye" into the final five, deserved or not. More surprising is that Frasier and Friends were NOT nominated for best comedy. Yes, I know that they weren't the best shows this year, but it was the last season for them, and they've been perennial nominees, so it's kinda expected... starvenger 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 I think The Shield didn't have enough episodes to qualify, but I'm not 100% certain on that...
cbacon 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 I barely watch TV anymore, but i'm glad Futurama has been nominated for 2 awards ("The Sting" for best animated episode and "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings" for best musical performance). Of course it'll probably get screwed over by another new lame Simpsons episode, but its nice to see the show is still being acknowledged despite the cancellation. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 The Shield got robbed! The show, Michael Chiklis, and Walton Goggins...at least 2 out of 3 should have been nominated. And they do have enough eps to be nominated, cause the show won for best drama before and Chiklis won before.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 The Shield got robbed! The show, Michael Chiklis, and Walton Goggins...at least 2 out of 3 should have been nominated. And they do have enough eps to be nominated, cause the show won for best drama before and Chiklis won before. I'd read that they changed the guidelines though - they wanted more eps within a certain timeframe or something to that effect. So being a cable show, The Shield coulda straddled one of those time boundaries and gotten screwed.

bob_barron 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2004 All 4 women definetley deserved to nominated for Sex and the City and I'm glad to see Kristin Davis FINALLY get her due. Usually I would write off Kim Cattral but her breast cancer storyline was compelling TV and I'm glad to see they gave her something to do. Cynthia had the awesome first half storyline with her attempt at getting together with Steve- that made for GREAT TV. Kristin survived a miscarriage, a divorce, attempts at a baby and converting to Judaism. I'm glad the Emmy people finally woke up and took notice.

Damn Bob, not only do you know a lot about Teen Queens but a lot about Sex and the City. Either you watch it with your bitch or you just are very bored. Don't worry, I get bored all of the time. NYU 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2004 Here's to hoping that Drea de Matteo wins the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a drama. She was just great on the Sopranos this season - ESPECIALLY on her final episode.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2004 The Shield was a little Weak this season but it should have been nominated, at least Chiklis. I completly disagree. It was better than season 1 and maybe as good as season 2. Walt Goggins should have been nominated for best supporting actor.

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2004 So would getting "The Sheild" season 1 on DVD be a good idea? It's a very good buy. Best show on TV And fuck Everybody Loves Raymond in its overrated ass!
The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2004 And fuck Everybody Loves Raymond in its overrated ass! It was quite good at one point. Annoying mom Patricia Heaton is what's bringing down the show with some help from the crudely unfunny Brad Garrett. When the episode is centered around those two, it all crumbles. Yet Ray Romano's deadpan acting is hilarious; his timing really works. See the episode with guest star Paul Reubens. When Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts interact with Ray it gets even better. It's just the writing team have run out of ideas and the lack of change in the show's structure (Ray writes sports stuff. He annoys his wife. His kids run around. Robert is tall and scary.) is wearing it down. Anyways, glad to see Kiefer got nominated again.
