The Heat are a top 3 team in the East, and it's kind of a toss-up there, so at 10-1 I like them. The Bobcats have Okafur who's NBA ready and several young guys that are supposed to have breakout years. I wouldn't put them as playoff contenders (even in the sorry ass East) but I could see them winning 20 games. The Hawks have absolutely no one, even if hell freezes over and they sign Erick Dampier. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2004 The only reason that the Celtics at 100-1 is a good bet is the fact that the NBA is going to realign to 6 divisions next year, and the Celts will be in a fairly weak division. (I think it's them, the Nets, the Knicks, the Raptors & the Sixers) While there's no really horrible team in the mix (e.g. Washington, Atlanta, Charlotte) there's also not a really dominant team, either. Whoever wins this division will probably earn the 3 seed, and thus have home court for at least one round of the playoffs. Once a team gets to the postseason, they have a reasonable chance of getting lucky at the right times and winning a surprise series or 2. I'd still not bet on it happening, but it's not entirely inconceivable. Does anyone know what the odds are for each team just winning their conference? That's crazy there is no way the Clippers will get out of the California division but the Wizards have a chance to advance out of the "weak" North East division. I know we've said this for the past three years but this is a make or break year for Kwame Brown and Gilbert Arenas showed himself to be one most underrated players in the game. The Antawn Jamison trade (And getting rid of Stackhouse and Laetner) also helped. While the Clippers have a very slim chance of breaking out of the bottom dwellers of the Western Conference.
