UZI Suicide Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Shawn Michaels and Triple H get mentioned the most on TV as "Grand Slam" champions, but I've realized it's actually Eddie Guerrero who seems to have held the most titles. He's been a WWE European Champion, a WWE Intercontinental Champion, WCW and WWE United States champion, WCW Cruiserweight Champion, WWE Tag Team Champion and WWE World Champion.. basically he's held more titles than any of the other "Grand Slam" winners, yet it never gets mentioned.

You're right about Eddie. But it doesn't surprise me he doesn't get mentioned in the same breath as Michaels and HHH, does it surprise you? Look at the WWE power structure.
razazteca Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Silly, Cruiserweights CAN'T be Grand Slam Champions.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 That's because he never won KOTR or Royal Rumble, which the Grand Slam relies heavily on.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 He won the SD! Royal Rumble. That doesn't really count. The SD Rumble was just a lame excuse to hot shot Eddie to the title.

razazteca Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 If anybody should get promoted as one of the greatest champions of all time it should be Benoit. Since Benoit won several long distance matches from the Royal Rumble to Ironman matches to 3 way matches.
Guest Sturgis Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 That's because he never won KOTR or Royal Rumble, which the Grand Slam relies heavily on. Micheals never won KOTR

Guest BurnToShine Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Silly, Cruiserweights CAN'T be Grand Slam Champions. Jericho was mentioned among the Grand Slam champions circa 2002.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 That's because he never won KOTR or Royal Rumble, which the Grand Slam relies heavily on. Micheals never won KOTR I apologize for erasing 1995 KOTR from my memory. I rescind my statement then. KOTR & Royal Rumbles=not needed.
razazteca Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Do you remember how Jericho was only the place holder for the title and was nothing but Stephanie's personal dog walker?
Guest BurnToShine Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Do you remember how Jericho was only the place holder for the title and was nothing but Stephanie's personal dog walker? Sadly, yes.
Guest Sturgis Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Beniot's Title Regins ECW Tag Team Championship(1) WCW Television Championship(3) WCW Tag Team Championship(2) WCW U.S. Championship(2) WCW World Championship(1) WWF I.C. Championship(3) WWE I.C. Championship(1) WWF World Tag Team Championship(1) WWE Tag Team Championship(1) World Championship(1) Super Junior in Japan.
Guest Anglesault Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Jericho and Angle are up there as well.
Mystery Eskimo Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Benoit was also a Stampede British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Champion and a 3 time Stampede International Tag Team Champion. If anyone cares
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Chris Benoit actually has a better claim due to the fact that he was the WWF Light Heavyweight champion in the early 90's as the Pegasus Kid, when the title belt was floating around the world.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 That's because he never won KOTR or Royal Rumble, which the Grand Slam relies heavily on. The Grand Slam is: WWF World Title Intercontinental European Tag Title Quit making up these new legislations like you know what you are talking about.
ChrisMWaters Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Here's a question though... How can you consider new Grand Slam champions with all the divisions of titles and the Brand Extension? Would a new Grand Slam champion have to have been on both Raw and Smackdown, winning any combination of the World Title, the WWE Title, the Intercontinental Title, the United States title, and either set of Tag Titles?

Maybe they could be a brand grand slam champion? Although the European title has been discontinued, so that'll be a little harder. And to The Bitch- You sure are living up to your name. I rescinded my comment, there was no need to take a shot at me.

You can't. Kinda like how being World Champ isn't nearly as prestigous as it once was.
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 But Benoit never had the Euro Title. But he has the distiction to being the first WWE Champion who started out as a Light heavyweight champ... and the fact he is also a former Super j cup champ.

Australian Pride Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 The Grand Slam is: WWF World Title Intercontinental European Tag Title Quit making up these new legislations like you know what you are talking about. It was, but i believe Chris Jericho 'officially' changed it when he started pimping the Hardcore title to go along with it. And how did this thread go from a discussion about Eddie and the Grand Slam to another Chris Benoit love story?

The Bitch (The Bitch?) is absolutley correct it has nothing to do with KotRs or Royal Rumbles. Exactly. Eddie has won all 4 but I wouldn't the count the wins after the brand split (tag and World) because of the different titles now used. Until WWE acknowledges a new GS champion I think the only ones are Michaels, HHH, and Jericho.

Ultra Violence Posted July 29, 2004 Report Posted July 29, 2004 Christian has won the Intercontinental, European, Light Heavyweight, Hardcore and of course Tag. If he wins the World he'd be one.

That has more to do with the fact that HHH knew Benoit would pose no long term threat to his position than it does with Benoit being a great champion. Dont get me wrong, I like Benoit, and he is one of the best wretlers going around today, but i'm sick of every thread about WWE being turned into a Chris Benoit love-fest.
