2GOLD Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I'm just pissed they are tearing down the stadium. If the Yankees want to build a new one and move, fine. But to rip down the old one for a parking garage or a kinkos or whatever useless piece of dreck will go there is stupid. Move, but leave the damn building there. Hell, the Yankees could charge money for tours and turn it into a big ass living musuem.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Well, they were known as the Los Angeles Angels before the Dodgers moved out west. The Angels like to be known as a big market team when they really just leech off the big LA media market. I mean who really knows of Anaheim anyway. I live in San Diego and didn't know Disneyland was in Anaheim until I got older. I didn't even know what an Anaheim was. I live in San Diego and I knew of Anaheim before I did of San Diego (Not a Californian native).... I'd rather be hailing from Anaheim than LOS ANGELES.
Dr. Tom Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Move, but leave the damn building there. Hell, the Yankees could charge money for tours and turn it into a big ass living musuem. I'm not sure if the income would equal the expenses there. I'm sure they could figure something out, with as much history as the place has. Why not move the College World Series there after the Yanks go across the street? What college kid wouldn't want to play for the national title in Yankee Stadium? (OK, maybe not Boston College players, but fuck them.)
Hektik Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I live in San Diego and I knew of Anaheim before I did of San Diego (Not a Californian native).... I'd rather be hailing from Anaheim than LOS ANGELES. The reason I say that is because most people consider Anaheim apart of LA anyway. Until the Angels changed their name a few years ago there was no Anaheim named team. The Angels played there since the 60s and were known as LA/California and the Rams played there also as Los Angeles. San Diego has always had there sports teams named as San Diego and has always had its own seperate media market.

Guest Wildbomb 4:20 Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 Tom, there's probably more Yankee fans at BU and BC combined than in some entire states. It's scary when I go down there and I hear a huge Let's Go Yankees chant going. --Ryan ...who still needs to make it to another Sox-Yanks game in the Bronx...
Guest Anglesault Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 The Mayor wants to replace MSG now. And Shea, but really, who cares about that.

Precious Roy Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 The only visibility problem in Yankee Stadium is that from some of the outfield bleacher seats you can't see the warning track in front of you, as the stadium is very steep as it goes upwards. There are no obstructed views however (like in the old Boston Garden which was brutal at times), and the "mile high" cheap seats are part of the charm.
JJMc Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 Goodbye tradition in the name of profits. So, are they going to level it and turn it into a parking lot just like Chicago Stadium? Yep. Maybe if we're really lucky fans, we'll get the baseball necessites that have been going around, like a ferris wheel and a swimming pool. Haha. I hear you there. Fenway is becoming like that. Fucking concourses EVERYWHERE. EDIT: I went to Yankee Stadium once and those "mile high" cheap seats weren't half bad.
Jobber of the Week Posted July 31, 2004 Report Posted July 31, 2004 The Mayor wants to replace MSG now. And Shea, but really, who cares about that. I don't really give a rat's ass about those, but tearing down Yankees Stadium is like tearing down the White House. If they absolutely have to tear down the walls, just build something new in the same place and give it the same name. Don't move it across the street because that's the ultimate slap in the face to everyone. "Oh, yes, we had to tear down Yankee Stadium so we could move it across the street." Shit, it's times like this I wish a team could use two arenas, and just use the old one for their most important games. At times this season, NYY has been playing like they don't deserve the place anyway.

Where would they play in the interim? Shea?
