Guest Redhawk Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 Many track athletes are also professionals. Marion Jones, Maurice Greene, Tim Montgomery...almost any high-profile track athlete you can think of. I just read about how Alan Webb (miler) left Michigan after his freshman year and turned pro. And all those "Gold League" races you see on ESPN during non-Olympic years? Everyone there is a professional.
The Electrifyer Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 If you don't want to know the result of tonight's Team USA game, don't read this: Team USA beat Serbia-Montenegro today 78-60 and apparently, they "played the right way" today: http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/summer04/bas...tory?id=1853671
The Czech Republic Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 OMG! Bill Walton just said something about how the various Yugoslavian nations were formed! whoa
Guest GreatMuta Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 Wow, I'd be interested if they formed an announcing team of Bill Walton, and Dikembe Mutombo...that needs to happen. And I think USA will take the Silver this year.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 Wow, I'd be interested if they formed an announcing team of Bill Walton, and Dikembe Mutombo...that needs to happen. And I think USA will take the Silver this year. GOLD, NIGGA.
The Czech Republic Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 Bill Walton and Woody Paige. I'm ready. Bring it on. Make it happen. + =
alfdogg Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 Kevin Harlan, Bill Walton and Charles Barkley.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 Is that you committing suicide, Czech?
razazteca Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 Looks like Turkey is giving Team USA some trouble. Turkey is shooting 3's like crazy and cutting a 17 point lead down to 5.
The Electrifyer Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 US took the game back as soon as Duncan got in the game. The US still has a LOT to improve though. And is it the international rules or are the calls a little biased against the US? Whats up with all the techs and travelling calls they recieved?
nogoodnick Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 It appears to me that the international refs are biased against the US. Watching the Serbia game Bill Walton even pointed out that many of the calls were absurd.
The Czech Republic Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Yeah because nobody spots bias like Bill Walton. "Throw it down, big man, THROW IT DOWN!" "He was clearly traveling." "Yeah. Traveling into the Hall of Fame, that is."
The Electrifyer Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Haha, although Walton IS biased, some of what he said during the game was right. I remember one of the US players got fouled and hit a shot. Instead of giving him the shot and putting him on the line for 1, the refs took away the shot and put in on the line for 2 attempts. I don't think Serbia wasn't over the limit either.
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Most of the travelling calls have been totally legit. Just because they don't get called in the NBA doesn't mean they arn't penalties.
