AndrewTS Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Funny thing from 411... But she works for the company.... In an interview with the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Sable once again brought up that she feels WWE is sexist in how it treats women backstage. "Even though she is back in the fold, Sable is still outspoken about sexism in the wrestling industry. She says the most gifted female wrestlers get passed over because they lack a certain California finish. They're not weight-training Barbie, in other words. 'Men aren't hired on looks,' she says. 'Some of the most talented women are not blonde-haired, blue-eyed women.' Of course, Sable's good looks haven't exactly been a non-issue in the course of her career. She is extremely proud of her status at Playboy and says the photo shoots were liberating for her. 'I love being sexy,' she says. 'But I also want to be thought of as an intelligent woman.' Sable says female wrestlers are held to a higher performing standard than men. And they're held to a different moral standard as well. 'The men in this business are able to have families because they have wives who stay home. The women have to choose. There are more difficulties as a woman. There are more sacrifices we make.' Sable says women who leave their families to go on tour are judged much more harshly than men." I'm still laughing at the part where she says WWE don't hire men on looks. Most of the rest sounds very disingenuous, considering the source. I agree with a lot of it, don't get me wrong, but she's just sounding like a hypocrite saying it.
Lil' Bitch Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Damn, I thought she was fired or something because I haven't seen her since GAB. *prays for Brock's well-being from the evilness of Sable
MarvinisaLunatic Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Im guessing Sable doesn't like the DIVA SEARCH either then.
Guest fanofcoils Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Vince made a mistake in bringing her back, she is a shell of her former self and in her current 03-04 stint she is no longer popular at all like she used to be in the late 90s with the fans. A diva should look young, not like a teenager's mom.
Guest GreatOne Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Oh my god I never thought that Rena Mero would be any sort of a comedic source, but DAMN! 'Some of the most talented women are not blonde-haired, blue-eyed women. That I would actually agree with since Sable and talented are about as much of a match as Vince McMahon and Brent Bozell. Men aren't hired on looks, PFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, well in her defense she was gone during most of the Billy Gunn pushes. 'But I also want to be thought of as an intelligent woman. Of course she'd actually have to, HAVE some. 'The men in this business are able to have families because they have wives who stay home. The women have to choose. There are more difficulties as a woman. There are more sacrifices we make.' Other than the 'I am woman/hear me roar' part she sounds just like Brock, awwwwwwwwwwwwwww........................ Vince made a mistake in bringing her back, she is a shell of her former self and in her current 03-04 stint she is no longer popular at all like she used to be in the late 90s with the fans Hey I was at the Smackdown taping when she came back dammit! I made $20 off some guy too.
Guest TigerDriver91 Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Hey I was at the Smackdown taping when she came back dammit! I made $20 off some guy too. Wasn't that the Smackdown taping in Toronto? I believe she was booed out of the building that night.
Guest Staravenger Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 I think by looks she means Mr. Universe in the Facial Department, which is a yes and a no. Some guys are male attractive, and others look like someone had their face kicked in. She does have a point. How often do lady wrestlers have serious matches in WWE? The only ones who do are the "not so good looking ones" like Jazz...uh Jazz, and.......Jazz.

I don't care what anyone else here thinks, but I still believe Gail vs. Victoria on Heat was the best WWE women's match so far this year, regardless of the stupid ending. Now I await the onslaught of negativity.
Guest Frank_Nabbit Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 FYI Brock and Sable were recently engaged

Would you happen to have it on your computer? Oh yeah, and Sable. Meh, I agree with her (GASP~) about the 'being passed over' thing. But I fail to see why she's the one complaining about this.

Youth N Asia Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Did any one person actually want Sable back anyway? She can't wrestle, she's by no means that pretty, and I've already seen her naked, thus she serves no use to me.

Art Sandusky Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 That's a pretty fuckin' hot teenager's mother.
Guest Reservoir_Kitty Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Sooo... does this mean I can cross my fingers that Vince will get wind of this (fake or not) and fire the old hag again? I'm certainly not going to get my hopes up or anything, but this is ... almost good! Yes, I'm so sure Vince DOESN'T care about his male wrestlers appearance.. pfft. Look at Batista, Orton, Edge, Jericho.. not exactly uglier than sin, know what I mean? ...well, most of you don't.
Guest TigerDriver91 Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Eugene and Kane are not exactly the male model type though.
RavishingRickRudo Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 They brought Sable back after the RAW X show; which I would assume the voting for the (very worked) "Diva of the Decade" had something to do with it. Of course, just because the fans thought Sable was the DotD -which there could be a strong case for given her popularity in the boom period- doesn't mean they wanted her back... it just means they remembered her. And the title should have been "More Say-bull".. I mean, c'mon.
Guest Anticrombie Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Yes, I'm so sure Vince DOESN'T care about his male wrestlers appearance.. pfft. I mean, I guess I can't understand because I'm not a chick.....but he looks like Satan... ...and he has worms crawling underneath his skin...disguised as veins...Ewww I would say ugly as sin describes Batista perfectly.
Guest Korgath Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 I believe the report took Sable's words and gave the story a certain WWE-bashing angle. I'm sure that a "Sable under contract" is much less likely to speak against her employer than a "liberated Rena Mero".
AndrewTS Posted August 10, 2004 Author Report Posted August 10, 2004 I believe the report took Sable's words and gave the story a certain WWE-bashing angle. I'm sure that a "Sable under contract" is much less likely to speak against her employer than a "liberated Rena Mero". Man, that was sure a vicious and venomous WWE rant there, wasn't it? But a Sable at the end of her contract, with plenty of enemies, and a fiance she doesn't get to spend much time with is a little different than one recently hired, secure in her job, with a love interest working with her. Basically, she probably doesn't care right now, I think.
Kizzo Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Yes, I'm so sure Vince DOESN'T care about his male wrestlers appearance.. pfft. Look at Batista, Orton, Edge, Jericho.. not exactly uglier than sin, know what I mean? LOL...Batista is not good looking in the apperance department.... Orton is ok...Edge would look better with short hair...Jericho is ok....so I agree with Sable on that...male wrestlers are not hired based on apperance..... BTW..the only one that I would consider good looking is The Rock
geniusMoment Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Why do you all care so much if Sable is fired? She is barely on television, and its not like if she is fired they will give her time to Paul London, they will give it to another chick. Sometimes you guys bitch about the dumbest things.
dubq Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Look at Batista, Orton, Edge, Jericho.. not exactly uglier than sin Yes, actually. Yes they are.
Guest TigerDriver91 Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Look at Batista, Orton, Edge, Jericho.. not exactly uglier than sin Yes, actually. Yes they are. So says the person with the ugly monkey boy in their sig banner.

Guest Staravenger Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Orton & Jericho I can agree on being kinda good looking (from a male POV) Batista is....blech. Edge looks like a fucking beaver with a big head. He's neck and neck with Test on the ugly scale.
CanadianChick Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Orton & Jericho I can agree on being kinda good looking (from a male POV) Batista is....blech. Edge looks like a fucking beaver with a big head. He's neck and neck with Test on the ugly scale. Nah. When Edge's clean shaven, he's hot. Batista isn't at all. He's a good dresser, but no. And yes, Jericho and Orton are hot. Jericho's hotter with facial hair, though.
Guest Anticrombie Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 How dare you question our expert male observations of who's hot and who's not. Edge = Beaver Batista = blech and/or Satan Orton = Bob Orton's son.....and so on Jericho = ...uh.......Canadian AND THAT"S FINAL!!!! Now back off or I'll ban you.
Guest Staravenger Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Nah. When Edge's clean shaven, he's hot. That explains it. I've never been a big fan on the hobo beard look...
