Just wondering this...what is the general consensus on the Rock/Austin matches from WrestleMania?

I'll go with the one from XIX. While not as great in workrate comparitively...it had MUCH less interference.

The X-7 match absolutely slaughters the other two; they don't stand a chance against it.

I would explain why it does, but Ray did it better than I ever could, and I can't find his. So let's just hope he sees this. ;)

15 - Best angle going into the match

17 - Best match definitely

19 - I marked out big time for this match just because of the "The Rock has never beaten Stone Cold at WM" angle and considering Austin cheated big time to win the last time, hell yeah I was going for Rock to whoop his ass. :headbang:

X7, nothing else they've done together, Wrestlemania or otherwise, comes close.

the only matches that beat out XVII are hart/Austin and Flair/Steamboat.

While we're on the subject, is this the first Wrestlemania match to take place 3 times? I know it's not the only one to main event twice (Bret/Yoko takes that honor also) but as far as I know it's the only one to take place 3 times.

They are all good matches, though I haven't seen the first one in ages. I say WM X7 is the masterpiece of both men's careers, but XIX was definitly a dignified way for Austin to retire.

The best was X-7 but I'm tied in which is actually my favorite, X-7 or XIX. X-7 was of course awesome but I was there for XIX and marked out big time for The Rock winning since I've always been a Rock mark.

X7. No contest really. I think its more interesting to see which is better between the other two matches. WM19 is underated I think. First time I watched it, it was ok but nothing amazing. It pissed me off at the end because the announcers were talking about how it was some amazing contest, and it just didn't feel so special. Second time round though it comes across a lot better. I'd rate it just shy of 4stars.

WM X-Seven without a doubt. Austin/Rock had me marking out with the flu and a 104 degree fever.

I think without a doubt it's X7. That whole match from top to bottom was amazing, made sense with all the counters and history they worked into it, and while the ending led to disaster in the following months, the ending on that one night was great. I think XIX is a close second mainly because of the clean finish and the ending to their great rivalry. Seeing the Rock finally beat Austin in their last encounter and then to show their emotion after it ended really makes it great, regardless of how the rest of the match was worked.

Heh, their WM XV match merely pales in comparison to their other too.

My initial reaction was to say XVII, and I am sure that would have been my answer except now that I've seen "The Mania of Wrestlemania" and I know both that it was Austin's last match and what the Rock and he said to each other at the end... to me it just makes that match mean so much more...
