OK, I want to get this game, but where do they have it?

Tyler had some links where you could get it for free -- not sure what happened to them though...

So, is that where all of you got it? Bunch of hippies...what ever happened to contributing to our on the rise economy through legal, upstanding ways in the spirit of Democracy? I'm diappointed in you Colonel :( .

(Seriously though, did anyone buy the game?)

I thought Tyler removed the links after being told to.

As for Kerry/Nixon.. is it Nixon 60, Nixon 68 or Nixon 72?

from playing "President Elect" ( http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=839 ), I'll say that Nixon 72 is pretty much unbeatable.

The game sounds interesting though. I have a copy of the Doonesbury game, but I don't think the CD works anymore. In fact, I have no clue where the CD is right now, I think it's in a box somewhere

This is closer to a boardgame that Doonesbury, except that it has a lot less bugs and (supposedly) biases than Doonesbury.

The only "biases" per se that I see with Political Machine are that someone got the bright idea of putting Barbara Bush and Laura Bush in as candidates instead of someone like John McCain. (I'd say Bob Dole too, except that Bill Mason seems to be based on him)

I actually bought it after finding out that the company isn't exactly a massive conglomerate.

But, but .. it's SHARING!

I'm diappointed in you Colonel

Stand down, Private, or whatever the hell rank you are -- I didn't buy/share the game. I'm not big into games like this anyway...

Getting back to strategy tips...

As a Democrat, the best way to beat Nixon et all is to build up a lot of endorsements then to do the following:

1. Find a Hollywood director (50% off of all ads in a selected state)

2. Hire at least one Webmaster in that state (75% off maintenance of ads in a selected state)

3. Run ads on every subject of importance until you've hijacked that issue as your own.

(Example- Run 15 ads on War On Terror. That makes it an issue important to a high percentage of voters AND will also skew voter opinion on that issue so that you are considered to be a better choice than your opponent)

If you want to exploit a bug in the 1.0 version of the program, hire 4-5 webmasters in a single state and create a LOT of ads there. Because of the bug in the program, taking that 75% off for maintenance multiple times ends up CREATING money for you for each ad.

I kicked Nixon's ass roughly 470-60 using this strategy as I made about 4-5 issues into ones that 10% or more of voters cared for and I was seen as the better choice on all of these issues.

On some like Universal Health Care and The Environment, it was 100% support for me an 0% for Nixon.

Are you still a Registered Democrat? If so, they you have hit the glass ceiling...

I thought I clarified this! I was NEVER a registered Democrat. NEVER. NEVER. NEVER. I'm a registered independent. From the thread where I explained it:

http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...political+party

Anyway, with election talk heating up, I started thinking "am I really registered"? Some of you might be thinking, wait a minute, I thought you registered, as a Dem in fact? In this very thread I said I filled out a form when I got my drivers license a couple year back to pre-register (and for it to go in effect when I was 18), and registered Democrat since I hadn't really aquired much of a political affiliation yet and my family are Dems. And then I just forgot about it, assumed when I was 18 it'd be official (I'm 19 now). Well....

I first became suspicious during the primary season when my parents were recieving all this junk in the mail from the party, yet I wasn't. They also recieved forms for voting locations...I didn't. I pretty much knew something was up there, but I decided I wasn't going to vote in the primary anyway once Jomentum ran out and Crazy Howie wasn't there to give the ole' sabotage vote. So I chalked it up to some error and forgot about it.

Well finally today I got around to calling the local election board, and sure enough....SWERVE~! they have no record of me at all. I never was a Democrat this whole time!

JR: Son of a bitch.

King: I can't believe it JR!

So....I'm going to print out the form soon and hopefully get officially registered already. I'm thinking I'll probably just go Independent since the Dems disgust me and I don't know if Im quite ready to throw my hat in with the REAL evil empire lol2004~! quite yet. (But hey KKK, I guess this means any doubts you once had about my rank in the KKKonservative Brigade can be quelled  )

So, yeah I'll be accepting my promotion now. :P

Slapnuts, I'm slightly more accommodating than my esteemed Colonel. I think it's fair that you join the Conservative BRIDAGE~! at the rank of Staff Sergeant. If you do well, you can go to Officers' School soon enough.

Thank you sir, you won't be let down by this decision and I hope to move up the ranks with my continued dedication to having little to no regard for the poor, minorites, the elderly or the French.

And to KKK: Come on man, be a UNITER not a DIVIDER. :P

OMG VICIOUS LEFT-WING PARTISAN ATTACK! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR SIDE HAS NO IDEAS LEFT!

Ahem, anyway, Sergeant. Congrats on your promotion -- those three purple hearts you got from a mean papercut, nasty knee scrape and unspeakable toe stub on the nightstand were more than enough reason to bump you up in the ranks.

Here's your reward...

Talk about faulty intelligence. Those greedy, facist programming companies are at it again. I heard Hitler started off by not giving the Jews free computer games before gassing them. Damn you Big Software.

Oh, btw, I saw a copy of this game at a EB store yesterday. I thought of this thread. How f'n sad...

Don't forget about the time he asked for examples of PETA people going over-the-line.

(Almost afraid to post this here in fear it will get "lost...")

But...but...but...I thought we were all idiots...all of us!

Left? Jobber had ideas to begin with? I heard that NASA used his cranium to serve as a windtunnel for shuttle aircraft.

OK, does anyone have the complete list of unlockable candidates?

From my campaigns, I've faced and/or unlocked the following:

Republican-

Condoleeza Rice (1st opponent)

William Howard Taft

Gerald Ford

Ulysses S. Grant

Teddy Roosevelt

Richard Nixon

Ronald Reagan

*Abe Lincoln (still haven't defeated)

Democrat-

Wesley Clark (1st opponent)

Jimmy Carter

Bill Richardson

Dick Gephart

??

I know that FDR, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington are all in the game. That still leaves four candidates unaccounted for.

Who else is in there? Harry Truman? Woodrow Wilson? Andrew Jackson?

No, you're the staff infection.

You stole that from Hey Dude.

No, it only popped in my head because my cat is currently got sores and problems since another cat sank it's jaws into his tail. I watched maybe three episodes of Hey Dude, and don't remember a damn thing besides a ranch being involved.

At least I can remember the premise of Pete & Pete.

Bill Clinton is 5th in line in my copy.

Thanx.

Unfortunately, Clinton's already unlocked in the normal game, so it's a waste of a campaign IMHO.

I think I need to go back to saying I'm a better war-time leader than Lincoln for a while...
