First of all, I bought Quiver recently and enjoyed it immensely, and I've never been a fan/read anything on Green Arrow. Thanks to many people who recommended it on many of the 'must-buy' TPBs thread.

What I liked:

I loved the interactions between Green Arrow and Batman.

My favourite line: When Etrigan attacks Ollie and Batman, he spouted a rhyme-like monologue which ends with the line, "...You are not the archer, Sir; You're merely his quiver." Very cool IMO. The art, story, characters...everything seems to click for me.

My question is this: during the time when Phantom Stranger stops Hal/Spectre and Oliver from entering Heaven (IIRC), Hal implying that the Stranger had done something to be demoted as the gatekeeper of That Place(Heaven/Eden/Whatever). What was it?

The Phantom Stranger (who has more origins than you can shake a stick at) has been referred to in several of his origins to be a former angel who either 1. Left Heaven after Satan's rebellion out of disgust over the whole rebellion or 2. Was cast out of Heaven for not picking a side during Satan's rebellion and forced to wander around for eternity.....

In "Quiver", Green Arrow was only supposed to have the memories of Green Arrow from the 70s, and in the post-Crisis DCU, no one is supposed to remember Wonder Woman from before 1986.

So how did Oliver Queen know Wonder Woman?

Oh, yeah...because Kevin Smith's a hack, that's why.

Wasn't Ollie loosely associated with the JLA post-Crisis?

I'm not entirely sure your complaint is valid.

DC doesn't operate in our normal flow of time. The heroes have only been in operation for about ten years or so, I think. It's still a cohesive universe. 70's, 80's, specific timeframes no longer matter, though.

Doesn't matter since he won't remember anything Post-Crisis.

But he remembers up to his death and such. So why would he not remember WW?

Thanks to John Byrne and his Hyppolyta the Time Traveling Golden Age Wonder Woman arc, the entire DCU knows about Wonder Woman and the Amazon via the Golden Age WW's actions well before Diana came out to the world during Legends.

Hence why Green Arrow knows Wonder Woman despite his memory problems...

Ah...

I always forget about the Hippo factor. My question now is was Hippo in fact a member of the original JL of A?

Not really. After Crisis Mike Grell got complete control over GA and had DC sever Ollie's ties with the mainstream DCU as well as forcibly yanking Black Canary out of the JLI so he could use her to become the poster child for mysoginistic comic writers who regularly rape and maim the female characters they write....

It wasn't until the early 1990s, when Chuck Dixon gained control over the character and behind the scenes power at DC that Green Arrow was allowed to return to interacting with the rest of the DCU.
