natey2k4 Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 Fall Brawl 1997.. I've looked at the card and am really interested in picking it up. Can any of you tell me how good all the matches were? Or how bad? thank you.
Brocklock Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 Jericho/Eddie is a really fantastic and forgotten match. **** 1/4 You should really enjoy this match as Alex Wright and Ultimo Dragon have another really good and underrated match. *** 1/4 Faces Of Fear vs Wrath and Mortis was really better than it should've been. War Games was probably the best since 92, still not awesome though. The rest was meh, but Jarrett/Malenko was decent.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 Please don't ever again put over a War Games match that contains: -Konnan -Syxx -Mongo McMichael - "Buff" Bagwell - Kevin Nash
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Please don't ever again put over a War Games match that contains: -Konnan -Syxx -Mongo McMichael - "Buff" Bagwell - Kevin Nash Who cares who it contains? It's a damn good Wargames and by far the best since 1992. Really good card overall as Brocklock said and one of the forgotten good/great PPV's from WCW's big run.
Lil' Bitch Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Good luck in getting it as it was another one of WCW's PPVs that wasn't released on tape in the States for whatever reason.
Guest Loss Posted August 19, 2004 Report Posted August 19, 2004 Jericho/Eddy is especially good if you contrast it with their Clash match from August of '97. They had a fairly subpar match there with Jericho getting blown up early, to a point where Eddy had to guide him like a baby through some spots. The Fall Brawl match saw the headlock used as a centerpiece and had a more natural and less-forced flow. Jericho got in lots of crowd-pleasing spots and Eddy handled the more difficult stuff and went over in the end, which was the right decision.

Anyone interested in the Jericho/Guerrero match from Fall Brawl '97 will be able to get it on the Eddie Guerrero DVD that's coming out in September - it's going to be one of the extras. Got my copy on pre-order now . . . . I was at that PPV in person (about five rows back from the ring farthest from the entrance) and it was a kick-ass show live. One of the rare events in WCW from 1997/98 that gets glowing reviews from myself and a lot of other fans . . .
