The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2004 Kids die play-acting hanging of murderer MUMBAI- India's first execution in 13 years has also claimed the lives of two children who re-enacted the highly publicized hanging of a man convicted of raping and murdering a schoolgirl. Dhananjoy Chatterjee, 41, was hanged two weeks ago in the eastern city of Calcutta after 13 years on death row. On Sunday, Prem Gackwad, 14, died when he tied one end of a rope around his neck and swung the other end on a ceiling fan. Last week, a 12-year-old girl died when she tried to show her younger brother how the execution went. Can't say I blame them. I'd do the same if I lived in India. It's more depressing than funny, even if it is sometimes ironic. "Reverend and his family die when tree crushes car" or whatever. I'm pretty sure the Darwin Awards covered that.
