I personally liked The Rock best when he made his heel return against Hulk Hogan then went on to face Austin at WM then Goldberg at Backlash. Everything about him was just awesome. The new attitude along with his new tattoo and haircut, his in ring cockiness, the new titantron and entrance music and in my opinion he cut some of the best interviews and promos. My worst would be The Rock at this present time making his annoying surprise appearances, sure the first couple of times he came out to save his good buddy Mick Foley he got some loud pops from the crowd but the most recent one ($250,000 Diva Search) I dunno about you guys but i heard quite a number of boos coming from the crowd. I hope Rocky does intend to make a long time stay in the WWE in the near future but looking at his movie schedule it looks like WWE is gonna be in the back of The Rocks mind.

What do you guys reckon???

As a big Rocky fan, this is tough. I'd say all his heel runs have been entertaining and much better than his face runs. Given more time the psycho coked-up Hollywood actor character would have been an all-time classic, but it only lasted a few months. So I voted for Corporate Rock. My least liked character of his would be face Rock in 2001 during the Invasion. I think the segment with Rocky, the midget and Lance Storm sums up that period pretty well.

Rock as a heel > Rock as a face

Rock as the pompous Hollywood asshole was awesome.

His stuff with the nation in 98 was classic. Hell, he'd be continually developing his character and coming up with new stuff every week.

I never really dug Corporate Rock that much. The character just seemed forced and unnatural for him.

Corporate Rock all the way for me...always a favorite character of mine. Nation Rock comes close but Corporate Rock had great feuds to help his development, and it was during this time that he really became a standout star.

The Rock as everybody's friend tends to put people over.....too bad the rub does not have a long shelf life. Where are you Hurricane and Eugene?

In wrestling terms, 2000-2002 face Rock clearly had better matches than heel rock.

If we're talking promos - 2003 Hollywood Asshole Rock tops the list.

I've always liked face Rock better because he's better wrestling as a face than a heel.

I went for Corporate Rock. I loved this period, his ruthless attitude, and his feuds with Foley and Austin. My favourite Rock moment was actually from a couple of months before his Survivors heel turn when he wrestled in the triple-threat cage match at Breakdown and the place was going nuts for him, despite the fact he was the heel. They had to turn him full face for the next few months leading into Survivors, and then pulled a great swerve at the big event.

wrestling-wise is Face period from 2000-2002 was the best.

But i just love the Asshole Hollywood Rock. Just too funny and entertaining! This ain't sing-a-long with the Rock!

Hollywood of course. And i'm probably the only guy on the board that liked Rocky when he was The Blue Chipper.

My favorite version of The Rock was when he was aligned with The Corporation. The idea of Vince handpicking a charismatic, third generation star to be HIS champion was a fantastic concept.

Nation Rock, hands down.

I agree, 100% percent. I kinda feel that the Corporation Rock and Nation Rock were really the same character, anyway. The Hollywood Rock was awesome, too.

Rocky Maivia/The Rock (Nation) Heel [ 7 ]

The Rock (Corporation) Heel [ 13 ]

The Rock (2000-2002) Face [ 2 ]

The Rock (Hollywood Actor) Heel [ 18 ]

Those results surprise me. Can anyone name any great heel Rock matches? Anyone? He was still a fairly bad wrestler before 2000 and didn't do anything great in 2003.

The question pertained to which character you thought was best, which was in my opinion, asshole Hollywood Rock.

If we're talking wrestling wise, as you said, of course 2000-2002 face Rock takes the cake, but that's not how I perceived the poll.

I gotta agree.

I've been watching some of his early heel run stuff and it's just fantastic.

Like his interview with Jennifer Flowers at Wrestlemania XIV.

Great stuff.

Yeah, pretty much. The difference was that the Corporation Rock was a main eventer, while the Nation Rock was an upper-midcarder.

I think some overlook Rock’s initial run as a heel in both the Nation and Corporation. I mean, when I was young I REALLY wanted to see him lose the IC title. I was especially pissed when The Rock got out of losing his title to Ken Shamrock all those times. Ditto with the WWF title.
