Guest saturnmark4life Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 Sparks - 'Achoo'. Â Did I mention Sparks are one of the greatest bands ever? Like, ever?
Guest Choken One Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 Sparks can't touch LOA. Â LOA-Don't You (forget about me)
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Sparks > Life Of Agony  And I am listening to The Pixies - Cactus.  This song seems to be building up and up, but never truly finds release, it just kind of ends. It's a great song, but frustrating at the same time.

It's a great song, but frustrating at the same time. It's odd like that. I like it because it's a change from the usual bottle-up-and-explode on that album in particular, but it could use with a bit more of the explode. Still pretty classic, though.  Modest Mouse - "Never Ending Math Equation."

Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Elvis Costello - Pump It Up  I suppose I should stop listening to these two albums over and over again, but, ehh.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 Modest Mouse - "Never Ending Math Equation." modest mouse is playing here in town on tuesday. should i see them? Depends. Download some of their stuff and see if you like it. I haven't seen them live, but have a few of their recent shows downloaded. Friends testify that they blow the place away. I'd class them as much better than average indie rock with great melodies, harmonies, and initially off-putting but pleasantly endearing vocals. In terms of variety and the ability to do a lot with a lot of different sounds, I wouldn't class them too far off from the Pixies. Bold statement, I know. Â In any case, most of their recent sets have still weighed heavily on The Moon And Antarctica. Try "Gravity Rides Everything," "3rd Planet," "Dark Center of the Universe," and "The Stars Are Projectors" for a taste of that. Â Off other albums: "Neverending Math Equation," "Workin' on Leavin' The Livin,'" "Dramamine," "Cowboy Dan," "Styrofoam Boots/It's All Nice On Ice All Right," "Doin' The Cockroach," "Talkin' Shit About a Pretty Sunset." Â For me, the track that immediately hit me was the opener of their best album, The Lonesome Crowded West. It's called "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine." Definitely snag that one.
