the max 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2004 If I can get network going with my den and PS2, I'd be glad to fucking SMOKE you. Razor is a much better tender than DiPietro and Rolston will knock out your fucking teeth and pass all over your ass.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted September 9, 2004 Razor? Who da fuck is that? I don't have that adapter to play, but if I did, all I'd need is 5-10 games to get a feel and I'd work you. I can defeat anyone...ANYONE at NHL 93...I've won money of folks who thought differently
the max 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2004 I'm better at 94 myself. It got to the point where I could win with my absolute worst players against the All-Star teams, and do so in convincing fashion. And Razor is Raycroft's nickname. DiPietro doesn't get a cool nickname since (1) He plays for the Islanders and (2) He's from fucking WINTHROP, a waste of space city if I ever saw one. But this will be his breakout year. He'll be up in the upper echelon of goaltenders such as Luongo. And somebody should ask Raycroft if he's heard of Jim Carey or Blaine Lacher. I kill everyone as the Bruins in NHL 93. They have one player who DOMINATES that game, can you guess who it is?
the max 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 Oates. Raycroft is too good positionally to be a Jim Carey.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted September 10, 2004 Oates. Raycroft is too good positionally to be a Jim Carey. Yea, you'd think it would've been Oates, Cam Neely, or even Ray Bourque. But no, its Don Sweeny. He was the fastest skater, bodychecked everyone, and had a hard shot. Amazing, i'd score 14 goals in a game with him. He's the second coming of Bobby FUCKING Orr or something like that. I'll buy NHL 2K5 when I somehow sell my Fire Pro Wrestling for Gameboy. That game is shit.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 SWEENEY~! Funny thing is that I never liked Sweeney until he signed with Dallas. In 94, I could run a game with Bourque. He was untouchable. Never played FPW, I always stuck with THQ's games for N64.

I can roll anyone with the Bruins.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 He really was obscure now that I think about it. His 1992-93 season was absolutely superb. I miss EA's series when it was simple. Now, they tinker too much and it gets rather ridiculous. Remember NHL 2002, with that godawful breakaway cam? Ugh. EA tends to overrate players in their games. In NHL 2002 for the PC, the following players are 98 overall: Forsberg (understandable) Sakic (understandable) Blake (WTF?!) Lidstrom (understandable) Simon Gagne (WTFWTF?!) Joe Thornton (WTF?!) Mario Lemieux (OMGWTF) I think there are more, but really.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted September 11, 2004 Simon Gagne is an 80 tops. Even in 2002. Thorton I'd say is about a 95 or 96. Blake is 90. Lemieux is 89. I agree with the rest though.
Guest Mikey2Dope Report post Posted September 16, 2004 Anyone else been having glitches in their game? My franchise keeps freezing, my game will freeze when you push Start at the "Push Start" screen, everytime I change the air horn settings and controller settings and save them, they just re-set itself and never save properly. It's pissing me as I've returned the game and had it happen again with a brand new game. At this point I'm thinking of just returning it and putting the credit towards EA. the max 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2004 I haven't had any of those problems. Are you on PS2 or Xbox? It might be the system itself.
Guest Mikey2Dope Report post Posted September 16, 2004 PS2. I was thinking it might be the system but I ventured over to the ESPN message boards and there's a whole thread of people experiencing the same problems. Weird stuff.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2004 Hmm. Nothing like that from my end... I guess I got a good copy. Try exchanging it for another copy? Try another memory card?
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2004 PS2. I was thinking it might be the system but I ventured over to the ESPN message boards and there's a whole thread of people experiencing the same problems. Weird stuff. Yeah. That's a fairly common problem with ESPN games for PS2 from what I have experienced. I know their college basketball game had this problem last year. It was a great game too, but, unfortunately, whenever I got my team of choice the way I wanted it after a few seasons, the game just went "Oops!" and crapped out much the same way this one did. It's too bad too, since the games they made are usually quite good, unfortunately, they forget to check for that problem and that game that was a "Great game!" 20 minutes earlier becomes that "$20 piece of crap." I was actually thinking about getting around this error with my next game by making two saves and just alternate which one I save on, just in case the game bitches out on me again. Of course, considering the fact that it seems like it is an error that they should have known about from previous games, I really shouldn't have to be dealing with it. Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Holy shit I traded Fire Pro for this tonight, I haven't played it sonce I got loaded instead,
the max 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 You're bad. What team are you going to be? The Islanders?
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted September 18, 2004 You're bad. What team are you going to be? The Islanders? Yep. I tried playing last night but I think I was too inebriated. The controllers are much different from EA. Whats with using the L stick to move? That kinda pisses me off. First job as the Islanders? Trade Yashin. Fuck I hate him.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Using the left stick is easier. Be careful with the right stick though, that makes you slash guys. I carved Yashin up good. Big slashes, hooks, anything.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Here were my pre-season moves: Trades: Yashin and Hamrlik to the Calgary Flames for Rhett Warrener, Matthew Lombardi, and Stephan Yelle. Traded Stephan Yelle back to the Calgary Flames for Marcus Nilsson and Steven Reinprecht Cliff Ronning to the Dallas Stars for Pierre Turgeon Signings: Oleg Tverdosky My defense is fucking stacked: Aucoin, Johnsson, Warrener, Niimina, Tverdovsky, and Martinek. My offense is jammed with quality role players and grinders with two pussy Euro's who can score - Czerkovsky (sp?) and Kvasha. There's no way to change the controllers to the old EA way of controlling the player> I'm going to be tough this year.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 Those trades with the Flames are excellent deals. Did you free up a lot of salary too? If so, Jiri Dopita is available in the free agent pool and can be had for about two million. What are your forward lines?
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted September 18, 2004 I haven't even looked at my salary yet. I stopped playing the game a few hours ago so I'll try to remember my lines as well as possible Line 1: Lombardi (LW) Peca © Parrish (RW) Line 2: Blake (LW) Reinprecht © Hunter (RW) Line 3: Kvasha (LW) Turgeon © Czerkawski (RW) Checking: Nilsson (LW) Scatchard © Bates (RW) D1: Aucoin Johnnson D2: Niiminaa Warrener D3: Tverdovsky Mardinek Goalie: Dipietro I won my first game 5-0 against the Capitals who took a ridiculous amount of penalties. I think I'm going to have to up the difficulty soon. Plus I may trade Bates for a draft pick so I can put either Asham, Weinheindl, or Steve Webb in. Dopita simply isn't a need for me right now, I have TONS of depth with my forwards by trading that sad sack (Yashin) away.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2004 I'd put Blake on the first line, Lombardi on the 4th and bump Nilson to the 2 line. That way, you can still run the two line as a scoring line and have a shut-down winger and excellent defensive center on the same line.
converge241 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 ESPN NHL 2K5 is good stuff! love the mini-games party mode
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2004 managed to get pretty far in my first season with the Habs. Some trades and deals. signed Oleg Petrov to a 2 year 3.5 million contract. traded Niklas Sundstrum for Adam Mair traded Alexi Kovalev and Cristobal Heut for Matthieu Garon and LA #1 Draft Pick. Traded Francois Boullion, Chris Higgins and a #3 Draft Pick for Derrick Morris
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted September 21, 2004 Those free agents expect fat contracts. Petrov for over a million a year? This game is realistic! Greedy bastards...
the max 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2004 Even the young guys usually want >1.5 a season. I tried to get some 21-22 year olds to stock my farm system, but they all want close to 2 million a season. Fuck them.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted September 24, 2004 I switched teams. I chose my second favourite team - The Flyers! I made a lot of moves so I'll just say who i got rid of, and who I acquired Traded: Recchi (I know), Esche, LeClair, Markov, Malenkov, Desjardains, Brashear, Lapointe, Sharp, Burke, Ragnarrson Received: Bowmeester, Phillipe Boucher, Rhett Warrener, Scott Hannon, Mike Peca, Rick DiPietro, Jordon Tootoo, Glen Murray, and Aaron Asham.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2004 Boourns. The only real talent you got rid of was Esche, LeClair and Markov and you got all of those guys back. Including Glen Murray. You should have to forfeit the season for daring to put him in the Flyers colors.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted September 25, 2004 a. Esche is unproven b. LeClair is slow and washed up (and highly priced) I traded him straight up, I think, for Glen Murray c. Markov has a ridiculous salary
