Guest Anglesault Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Hey guys, I don't know if you all know about Bugmenot.com. It's a site that stores all sorts of account names and passwords that you can use to log in to newspaper sites and the like if you don't feel like creating an account. Anyway, on a whim I did this site, and low and behold, you can get the name and password of at least one member here. I tried it out just to see if it works, and it actually does. I was on someone's name for several minutes ( I didn't post anything, so don't bother looking for it.) Now, I don't know much about that site, I use it occasionally to look at out of town newspapers, so I couldn't tell you if a new name comes up everytime or if it's just the one guy's name registerred. To tell you the truth, I don't know if this person even knows his information is registerred in that database. (Rather than cause a whole problem by saying who it is, I will privately PM the person) Now, there may be nothing to is, but I just wanted to bring it to the attention of the mods and the other posters in case they want to look into it and make sure there'd nothing going on with people's info being stolen. The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 It looks like people just give them user names/passwords of their own free will. I tried a few sites that didn't work, but it prompted me to sign up for that site, then come back and enter the newly created name/password. I think that's how it works, but I could be wrong... Guest Dazed Report post Posted September 3, 2004 Thanks AS. Their terms of use say that "You will not submit sites that have any form of age access verification (COPPA).", which we do. I've contacted the guy who runs it.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 No we don't. There is the option but it's not enabled. I don't think you even know what COPPA even is.
IllustriousOne 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2004 COPPA is far too time consuming and whatnot to use it here.

St. Gabe 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2004 Hey Guys, My brother decided it would be a great idea if he put my username and info on the website, yeah, it was my account. Ummm Hopefully this doesnt get me banned or anything. I had given my brother my password one afternoon because he wanted to post a response, and I guess he remembered it and added my name and PW to that database. Anyways, Thanks AS for not screwing with me big time, and Sorry if this has caused a problem, I'm changing my password now...
