Guest JMA Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 The new Batman animated series dubbed "The Batman" premiers on the Kids' WB! block Saturday, September 11th. Is anyone else going to check it out? Personally, I have VERY high hopes for the series. I was a huge fan of the FOX (then WB) cartoon back when it was still around. Oh, and I found a clip from the show: Click Here
Guest Fook Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Why does everyone have super pointed chins? Is it the anime influence? Or did the artists just draw everyone that way for no reason?
AndrewTS Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Thanks for starting the thread. Oh, any idea where we can find legit, accurate info for cast, writers, etc? Also, yes, I'll be checking it out. I loved the last two series, plus West as Bats and Gorshin as Riddler at least has nostalgia value. The writing is probably my single biggest concern. However, the "WB Kids" thing worries me a bit... *note: my computer sucks so I can't exactly check out the video. What's in it?

West's the mayor of Gotham and Gorshin's Hugo Strange. The person they cast for Riddler scares and intrigues me at the same time: Robert Englund AKA Freddy Krueger.

That's what happens when you only have rumors to go on. Rino Romano as Bats seems quite wrong. Okay, I guess as Bruce he works, but it's hard to imagine him doing a Batman voice. I've seen Englund playing satan on an episode of Married...with Children. I think he'll do an awesome job. Clancy Brown as Freeze works for me, too. I'm surprised Perlman's on there as Croc, although I guess his appearances will be sporadic at best. Nothing about the writers are mentioned, though.
Vyce Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 This COULD be good, but it won't even come close to the 1992 series.
Mecha Mummy Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 Well, anyone who expects it to is setting the bar way too high. I've seen a couple clips, and I'll say this; Romano works. The guy voicing Joker has huge shoes to fill, but he's adequate. It's marred by Joker's bad character design, though. And the guy voicing Bane works well for the character, but once again he has a pretty odd design.
Guest SP-1 Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 I like that clip. The guy voicing Joker sounds kind of like Hammil as far as patter and meter, and as far as the voice sound itself, it's kind of like Hammil with a sore throat. It works. The Batman voice works too. Animation was alright. But even BATMAN:TAS had some choppy episodes here and there. I'll try and remember to commandeer a TV for it.
eiker_ir Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 i hate the Joker desing, i hope he doesn't keep it trough all the series. Besides that, everything looks pretty good.

I was going to mention the similarity to Hamill's voice myself. I'd say that the Joker's voice-actor has done his homework.
Cheex Incarnate Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 I think Joker's appearance in the clip is because he's just escaped from Arkham. Also Michael "Kramer" Richards is Joker's pipes, if i'm not mistaken. -Cheex
Mecha Mummy Posted September 5, 2004 Report Posted September 5, 2004 Close. It's actually KEVIN Michael Richards, who Joker is a bit of a different role for considering that he's frequently cast to voice characters who are muscular tough guys.
Guest Ronixis Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 DO NOT BOTHER with this series. I saw first two episodes. IT IS HORRIBLE. Some of the voice acting is good for this series, but they should done or gone to do other series. Batman Beyond (the weaker of the Batman TAS series but still a great series) is more like Sir Francis Bacon works compared to this series. THATS HOW BAD TheBatman IT IS. It makes a man weep to see how two series based on the same charator can have one series BE SO PERFECT, and the other FALL SO SHORT of perfection. Its so bad, I had to watch Da Boom Crew (a good series that will get short changed because of its Gansta like tude) to prove to me that KidsWB still got balls. Because I nearly lost my manhood when I saw TheBatman. To put it bluntly, TheBatman is Gay, and were made for faggots, and I feel so sorry for Mr England that he had to work for such a trashy series.
