Red Baron 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 The Smiths are a great band, but Morrisey should go cry in a fucking corner. His solo stuff is beyond cheese.
DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 Hey, Moz's solo stuff is awesome in places. "Vauxhall And I" and "Your Arsenal" are two of the most under-rated albums of the 90's IMO. Admittedly it tailed of a bit in the late 90's, but his comeback this year was more dignified than most of his peers (esp. compared to the Johnny Marr and the Healers album) and "First Of The Gang To Die" is a grade A piece of songwriting. PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 I hate to be an apologist, but you have to bear in mind Morrissey's sense of humour when you listen to his more self-parodying stuff. His whole comeback has been engineered perfectly, his last tour was around cheesy holiday camp locations, some holding nothing upward of 700 people, in keeping with the 'old style crooner's return' gimmick. And his Elvis lights kick ass.
Zorin Industries 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 I forgot too add D.A.F. a great German early Industrial band, Devo's 80's stuff I enjoy too. I can't believe I haven't mentioned Bauhaus yet, just a fantastic band in every way, probably my all time favourite
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2004 And agreed whoever mentioned The Cramps. Obviously they're repetitive, but I'd kill to see em live, even now. So much fun. I want that DVD of the show they did in a mental hospital too.

I want that DVD of the show they did in a mental hospital too. I've actually seen bits & pieces of that DVD ... a friend of a friend had it, and was watching it when I stopped by their place. I'd seen one song on the On Demand thing on cable before that, too. The quality is shit, but it's just surreal to watch. If you can find it, definitely check it out.
