Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 ....Why does Theadore Long have a picture of both Vince McMahon and Martin Luther King in his office? Is Vince that delusional that he outta have his picture up beside such a significant historical figure? Is his clear sense of dettachment from reality a main reason why the product has plummeted so far?

Lord of The Curry Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Don't mind the new meat, Banky. He's a goof. I'd say you're spot-on with your assesment.

Yeah, the pictures of Vince McMahon and Martin Luther King on Teddy's GM wall signifies the plummeting of WWE television. Or maybe the booking is just horrible.
Lord of The Curry Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 The pics account for Vince's huge ego, his losing touch with reality is why the ratings are down.

Uhm....I think both go hand in hand....sweetcheeks.
Mecha Mummy Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Well, okay, I'm going to try and make sense of it from a booking perspective; Vince McMahon gave Long the GM spot, so it's like a thank you from Long, and having a picture of Martin Luther King Jr. makes perfect sense when you think about Long's character.
Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Maybe those two are Teddy's biggest heros? Sometimes a prop is just a prop...
AndrewTS Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 If it was Vince's doing, it would probably be a picture of himself and Reagan. MLK Jr. was an overrated, lecherous Communist anyway.
Twisted Intestine Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Martin Luther King is obviously his hero, and he obviously sucks up to Vinnie which is why he got the GM role in the first place... So he has posters of both of 'em.
Styles Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 When Long first put the picture of Martin Luther King up next to Mcmahon it was also an episode where JBL was talking about John F Kennedy and Ronald Reagan as great American heroes, and in that week's Observer I remember reading Meltzer write that it wasn't a coincidence because Vince Mcmahon's biggest heroes are Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. So there you go, Vince admires the guy and in his own strange world, putting his picture side by side with his is Vince's own way of acknoledging that...

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 The only holiday Vince ever really recognizes is Martin Luther King day. If Vince is all for Black rights, where are all of your black champions? Only the Rock. And he is only part black. At least the WCW had Ron Simmons.
what Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 If Vince is all for Black rights, where are all of your black champions? Vince probably hasn't had any black people besides The Rock who he thought could draw well as a champion.

His position as a big deal would have been solidified had he beaten the Underquaker. Who else is there?

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Need I go furhter than the complete fumbling of Shelton Benjamin. That guy had far more steam in a few months than Randy Orton had in his whole career. before his hand injury, he was being totally wasted. And he is now...bring him back in Evolution for fucks sake. No.

Guest Shoes Head Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Black champions haven't drawn successfully because of all that funny jive talkin' they do. It gets old guys!
Australian Pride Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Mark Henry was getting a decent push prior to his most recent injury. I cant explain why though. D-Lo, Godfather and Ron Killings all got given the flick. So did Ahmed Johnson but he was being groomed for big things before he became an injury-prone waste. Mabel got given a big push in 95, but was crap and they gave up on him.
Dangerous A Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Although the intent of Vince and MLK's pics side by side is not a comparison, it is a visual that is just wrong for many, many reasons.
