Simon Dean

Recommended Posts

So this guy is basically just a carbon copy of the character Ben Stiller has played in countless movies. Still should be interesting. If you call the number 203-352-1587, you can hear a message from Simon Dean, and are given a chance to leave a message of your own. I simply said "Bring back Mantaur!". Anyways, this character could be interesting.

Sweet. They are ripping off a shitty Indy Gimmick combined with ripping off an infomercial charicter.

Jesus.

It's a throwback to another old gimmick (Bodydonna's), but Nova has improved greatly since his time in OVW. It's a midcard gimmick for sure, but I think he'll pull it off well.

Let me put it this way this character has more chrisma than everybody combined that was "promoted" from OVW.

So the equation would be:

Hoss + male model + evil forgeinor - retard < Simon Dean

So he's going to ridicule people who left a message on the air.

Awesome.

You mean that was legit? I thought it was an ultra-shitty short info-mercial, like how USA used to do ads for the Bowflex every other commercial during RAW back in the day.

Well look at it this way, when Rico was first saddled up with the gay gimmick (even moreso then Billy/Chuck era) many thought it was doomed to fail, and was just all out stupid, but in some ways, it actually worked, and is a current running gimmick. Even led him to the tag titles. So who knows, good could come otu of it whether it's a crap gimmick or not.

Maybe Simon could get Rosey to turn heel on Hurricane and attempt to "get him in shape". Nova/Hurricane could have some good matches, as opposed to two minute undercard filler.

Awesome.

For some reason, this gives me flashbacks to the "Newsradio" with the complaint box. If we can get him to say "Who's the black private dick who's a sex machine to all the chicks?" on the air, i can die happier. Even happier if the crowd yells "SHAFT!"

The gimmick is shit, and if it didn't fucking work a decade ago, why the fuck would it work now?

WWE Logic, Andrew. WWE Logic.

It reminds me of Dean Douglas in the sense that it will be dropped in a month, but he will still be there living the gimmick. He just wont do the gimmick.

Well all I know is, I watched the football game during that segment, as I'm sure a lot of other people did. Way to go WWE, keep it up and see where it leads....P.S nowhere good

I'll never forget when Mark Henry turned heel on D'Lo Brown because D'Lo was concerned about his weight.

God bless you, Vince Russo.

Which gimmick will last longer? Simon Dean or Caryn "Muffy" Mower as Stephanie's personal trainer?

Nova does a really good job of a "Really bad Fitness Guru" - but I think it would be better as a "Really good Fitness Guru". Honestly, he acts like he has a stick up his ass when he's talking and smiling - I need something more convincing.

It's pretty easy to say why he's on RAW/Smackdown:

"Simon Dean, my wife lost 100 pounds because of you and I want your Simon System to be shared with the world." - Raw/Smackdown GM

Though I loved the "You will die alone" line.

This is going to totally work. I was LOLing through the whole thing. It's a midcard gimmick for sure, but it'll work.

The big difference between this and Candido is that Nova's a better worker and talker than Candido was. He's improved a ton during his OVW stint. Also, Sunny did most of the talking for Candido which leeched heel heat from the whole thing (since she overshadowed Skip). The gimmick is much better because he's not just a psycho fitness instructor, he's a rich con man.

I'd run the "ads" for a couple more weeks, then have "Simon Dean" as a "celebrity in the crowd" and have him get jumped.

Well I'd have him be Evolution's personal trainer, but then HHH turns on him, beats him up, and sends him down to Sunday Night Heat where he'll wrestle Garrison Cade.

And that's why WWE would hire me before you.

I just tried the number and it's not the message it was last night. Now it's talking about a child that has been kidnapped in California with the car and license plate. Very weird.

Maybe that's Simon's motivation - his child was abducted.

Doesn't make a fuck's worth of sense, but it adds depth to the character.
