2GOLD 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2004 Wow, what a risk by the Browns. They take a safety down 5, onside kick on the short punt and get the ball back. 19-12 with 8 seconds left on the Browns 36 Oh and Winslow is hurt. HAIL MARY TIME! Keyshawn pats it down, the Cowboys win it 19-12. Ugly, ugly game.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 20, 2004 Why did the Chargers bring Flutie in for mop up duty? It would've been a good time to give Rivers some real game experience. He'll be starting in a week or two.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 Jerry Rice failed to make a reception today snapping his streak of 274 games with at least one reception. I don't know why he came back this year and I hate to see him limp out on his career like this.

He'll be starting in a week or two. Perhaps Marty is the Larry Brown of the NFL? Flutie is listed as #2 on the chart and the Chargers weren't completely out of the game yet. So I guess he figured Doug could lead a better comeback than Rivers. Or something.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 20, 2004 What an absolutely terrible, horrible fucking effort by the Packer run defense. Absoluely no excuse to hold Stephen Davis and a Carolina offense at full strength to 14 points total and Davis to less than 70 yards. Ahman Green was over 100 yards in the 1st half, and I am fucking pissed at Tom Rossley for stubbornyl sticking to the gameplan instead of letting Favre get back there and air it out. Worst most fucking predictable playcalling ever. The blitz failed this week because Chicago got a lead off turnovers and didn't need to air it out as much. Turnovers will always kill you in a game, especially that back-breaking 95 yard TD run. But as has been already mentioned, Green Bay always plays a game down to someone else's level every year, usually in week 2. Last year it was Arizona, and the year before it was the Saints (and Green Bay went on to win 8 straight after that in that year). Major congrats to Lovie Smith and the Bears for ignoring the papers and asinine predictions, and going out to do what they set out to do, and beat the Packers. I've been telling people all around that people are way underestimating that team, and I think they're a team that's going to keep spoiling teams on that principle. Green Bay better not underestimate them next time- They play at Soldier Field on the last game of the season. Offense- Turnovers killed, receivers dropping balls, but Ahman was able to go over the century mark before the half. Doesn't matter if you don't score more than the opposition though. C- Defense Absolutely pisspoor, horrible, terrible fucking effort for the run defense. Losing Grady Jackson is no excuse, they played great against a great running team in Carolina last week, and give up all those yards to fucking Thomas Jones. Mike McKenzie came in and got some snaps (and got booed) and played well on every snap he came in, deflecting a pass on a couple plays and shutting down his area of the field when he played. But god what a terrible fucking run defense. You can't win any football games if you can't stop the run, simple as that. F Coaching: Fucking, fucking, fucking terrible. Yes, some of the calls were pretty damn questionable, and I think Chicago got away with a few calls if you ask me, but that's still no excuse for some of the more pisspoor playcalling I've seen. To go for it on 4th and 8 on the Chicago 21 with a minute and a half left and down by 11 was a stupid call. Longwell could have easily nailed a FG, and then it would take an onside kick, a TD and a 2PC to send the game into overtime. It would have still been a long shot, but it would have at least still been a shot. It's obvious the players had been reading the press clippings saying how the Packers might be Super Bowl-bound instead of practicing all week as well by that lackluster effort on run defense. No excuse, and the blame falls solely on the coaching.. Also, what the fuck was with that run, run, run, run the ball even if it doesn't work philosophy about? I could understand if this was Kyle Boller and Jamal Lewis, but you've got fucking Brett Favre here. Then of course you put him in when he thinks he's got a win a game by himself, and that's when he's prone to throwing interceptions. Great job, guys. F Overall: F+/D-
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 It gets no easier for the Packers next week: at Indy. Man, the Colts's early season schedule has been murderer's row, what with NE, TN, and GB.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 Man, Maddox's injury today hurt me. Hurt his elbow pretty bad, probably the same injury I had surgery on. Get well soon, and damn, I hope Ben plays more like he did in the middle, not the beginning or end of those twoish quarters. He started off pretty shaky, but gained confidence. Then, he threw a rookie mistake of a ball to Hines Ward that got picked by McAllister for a 50 yard TD. It looked like a WR option route and Ward read man coverage, but Roth read zone. Rookie mistake, but it'll hurt more when the game isn't already out of reach.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2004 Did anyone watch the 49ers game today? Why did Kevan Barlow stop getting carries toward the end of the game? Did he sustain an injury? I watched it. Barlow was taken out of the game because of a rib contusion, if I'm not mistaken. I'm guessing they were holding him out as a precautionary measure.
