JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 The event scheduled for this Friday, September 24th at the National Guard Armory in Lafayette, IN has been cancelled. Late in the evening during Friday night's card in Highland, we began to have problems with the ring, and the additional wear and tear by holding the Saturday event in it caused permanent damage to the ring frame that must be repaired. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will return to the Lafayette Armory on Friday night, October 22nd with "The Revolution 2004" strong style tournament. Already signed for the tournament: SAMOA JOE, "The Notorious 187" HOMICIDE, SUPER DRAGON, "The New Age Punisher" B-BOY, BJ WHITMER, "The King of Diamonds" EDDIE KINGSTON, and two more competitors to be announced. IWA Mid-South is back in action with a quadrulple shot of events during the month of October, beginning Wednesday, October 20th, at the National Guard Armory in Bloomington, IN. We will then return to the Armory in Evansville, IN on Thursday night, October 21st. The Bloomington event will feature AJ STYLES taking on CHRIS CANDIDO. Signed for both Bloomington and Evansville is the returning "Fallen Angel" CHRISTOPHER DANIELS, who will participate in a four-way matchup in Evansville along with AJ STYLES, CHRIS SABIN, and PETEY WILLIAMS. Also in Evansville, SAMOA JOE battles ABYSS in a battle of the big men. The quad-shot rolls on Friday, October 22nd in Lafayette, IN, and culminates Saturday, October 23rd in Highland, IN at the Lincoln Center with the IWA's 8th Anniversary Show. Already confirmed for Highland: "Anarchist" ARIK CANNON defends the IWA World Heavyweight Title against AJ STYLES, IAN ROTTEN teams with "The American Dream" DUSTY RHODES to battle "The Dream Team" STEVE STONE & CHRIS CANDIDO, plus MERCEDES MARTINEZ defends the Women's Title against MICKIE KNUCKLES, and a whole lot more. Mark your calendars! We will be announcing the date for our return to the New Albany, IN National Guard Armory shortly as well. Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted September 22, 2004 They should book Danielson for 10/22 if he's not already booked somewhere else. Also I'd like to see Cannon or Hero in the Strong Style Tournament.

PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Already signed for the tournament: SAMOA JOE, "The Notorious 187" HOMICIDE, SUPER DRAGON, "The New Age Punisher" B-BOY, BJ WHITMER, "The King of Diamonds" EDDIE KINGSTON, and two more competitors to be announced. Super Dragon back in IWA:MS? That's really good to hear... because normally promotions don't seem to ever bring him back a second time for whatever moronic reasons. Anyway, this is looking to be yet another great series of shows from IWA:MS.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Apparently, Dragon is a dick and has a ego. But thats just what every promoter says.
Guest Evolution Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Ian Rotten admitted that Super Dragon is a dick backstage, which I assumed meant that he wouldn't be back, but I guess I was wrong. Anyway, yes, the ring was in shoddy shape after the show, as one of the crossbars used to hold the ring up was completely broken and had to be reattached with an obscene amount of duct tape, which took a very long time to remove when we were moving the ring out of the building. Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 DAMN, another quadruple shot? IWA:MS is so lucky they got 3 money marks backing them, cuz I can't see how they make any money off these.
Slingshot Suplex 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 I thought Ian said at the Q & A that Super Dragon was a dick backstage and wouldn't be back anytime soon? Personally, I didn't see what all the hype about the guy was about.
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Asshole huh? Eh whatever, as long as they are bringing him back. Looks like a great tourney, I'd imagine a possible Super Dragon Vs. Homicide match would be something to watch.

Who are their money marks? Maybe they think they have a better chance to make money off loaded shows than normal ones?
Guest Deviant Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Super Dragon was in the 2002 TPI, but was never brought back because he didn't follow the unwritten rules of ettiquite at all, basically blowing everyone off and not even going so far as to shake people's hands. He was a self-centered prick all weekend. Luckily, he has his marks, so they might sell a few more tapes with him on them, hence why he's in for the TPI and the Strong Style Tournament, but don't look for him on m/any shows outside of those. Jingus 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 I've heard that Smart Mark Video cuts IWA a part of the money they make selling their tapes, which is apparently a decent amount, so that certainly helps load up the shows with big names.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Now let me start off by saying that I am HUGE on IWA-MS.......but do THEY honestly need to start booking Dusty now too?
Slingshot Suplex 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Dusty is a one time thing. Or at least I think so anyway. But I figure they booked him for two reasons. 1. No matter what anyone thinks of Dusty Rhodes as a wrestler or booker or his personalty , his name is legendary in the business among the marks and they are hoping his name will sell tickets. I admit I probably would have bought a ticket for the 8th Anniversary show anyway, but when Ian announced he was going to team with Dusty, I went right out and reserved a ticket. 2. At the KOTDM Q & A, someone asked a question to the panel about who they'd want to wrestle and Ian described how he didn't really have that but if he could team with one person, it'd be Rhodes. Ian watched Dusty growing up in Florida and was a huge fan of the guy. I guess Ian saw an opportunity to make that happen so he did. Workrate whatever blah blah blah. I think the match is going to be a fun brawl. Ian will be psyched for the match teaming with Dusty....Dusty can work a good brawl....Candido should be looking to prove himself on the biggest stage he's been on in a long time....and Stone is pretty good. I'm looking forward to it.

Guest Evolution Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Mercedes Martinez is good. Stiff, hard-hitting, strong style women's wrestling action. Indeed. I first saw at her at the first night of TPI, and I was very impressed. Another fine woman wrestler to add to the list of those in IWA's women's division.
