JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 Suspense/Horror 1 hr. 40 min. A young man named Adam (LEIGH WHANNELL) wakes to find himself chained to a rusty pipe inside a decrepit subterranean chamber. Chained to the opposite side of the room is another bewildered captive, Dr. Lawrence Gordon (CARY ELWES). Between them is a dead man lying in a pool of blood, holding a .38 in his hand. Neither man knows why he has been abducted; but instructions left on a microcassette order Dr. Gordon to kill Adam within eight hours. If he fails to do so, then both men will die, and Dr. Gordon's wife, Alison (MONICA POTTER), and his daughter will be killed. Recalling a recent murder investigation by a police detective named Tapp (DANNY GLOVER), Dr. Gordon realizes he and Adam are the next victims of a psychopathic genius known only as "Jigsaw." With only a few hours left to spare, they must unravel the elaborate puzzle of their fate in the midst of mounting terror. The killer has provided them with only a few clues and two handsaws - too weak to break their steel shackles, but strong enough to cut through flesh and bone. Release Date: October 29, 2004 (wide). MPAA Rating: R for strong grisly violence and language. Distributor: Lions Gate Films http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1808579789&cf=info Check out the trailer for this shit and see what you think.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 it looks interesting, but I still have my doubts. Needless to say the trailer is intriguing enough for me to give it a shot.
dubq 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2004 'Saw' it in September [pun intended]. It's simply amazing. Tops Seven in the twisted killer genre, that's for sure.
Guest BrokenWings Report post Posted October 7, 2004 I made a thread about this a couple of months ago discussing the several trailers which have been released, and it died off quickly. Hopefully the same does not happen to this one, as it's getting good reviews and looks incredible. It's been a long time since I've seen a good horror film, so I've got high hopes for this one. 'Saw' it in September [pun intended]. It's simply amazing. Tops Seven in the twisted killer genre, that's for sure. I've heard several people mention they've seen it months beforehand...how did you come to get a hold of it?

It's more in the vein of Seven.. serial killer/suspense type of movie. But it sure does have it's share of guts & gore.
AmericanDragon 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2004 I just saw Saw and it was awesome.
DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2004 Watched it last night...really good stuff, one of the cleverest films I've seen in ages. Manages to be suitably sick and gory while maintaining a good story. There literally isn't a wasted scene in it and 1 and 3/4 hours seemed to fly by.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted October 17, 2004 I'll definately be going to see it this week. I am actually pumped for it, but I must admit I have my doubts. I am sure I will like it though, it does seem to lack some originality..........but I'll judge that after I see it.
AmericanDragon 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2004 Some of Cary Elwe's scenes and dialogue reminded me of Will Ferrell/Mustafa from the Austin Powers movies. It's probably the voice.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2004 I might want to see this eventually. Let's face it: It's nice to see Cary Elwes get some work. I never understood why he never quite became a huge star after Princess Bride.
Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2004 I might want to see this eventually. Let's face it: It's nice to see Cary Elwes get some work. I never understood why he never quite became a huge star after Princess Bride. Probably cause "Princess Bride" typecast him, but I agree that he should have become a bigger star. The movie looks interesting, but I doubt I'll see it. Maybe once it comes out on DVD, but definately not in theaters.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2004 I dunno, take a look at Elwes's post PB roles. He was the heel in Days of Thunder, a pseudo heel in Hot Shots, didn't do much of note in Glory, and was Robin Hood in Men in Tights. If anything in most of those he was cast somewhat against type (Robin Hood aside). Can't even think of the last hit he was in....I do recall seeing him in Shadow of the Vampire and The Cat's Meow, but he didn't do much of note in either.
