NFL WEEK 5 Discussion

Recommended Posts

Right now Joe Gibbs must be wondering what the weather was like in Kansas City at the NASCAR track than coaching this team.

And damn you Seahawks, ANOTHER damn week of Martz going, "HA! I TOLD YOU! I'M THE GOD! I'M THE GOD! AHAHAHAHA!"

Damn, the Skins offense is putrid. If they could muster ONE TD drive, then they win the game(again). The Defense can only bail them out so many times.....I am waiting for name dropping to start taking place in the lockeroom....ugh. Brunell, so far, has been and experiment gone bad. For all the mistakes he makes, Ramsey can at least move the offense downfield with the throw of a single pass. Brunell missed a couple wide open receivers, and Cooley in the 2nd quarter. This is pathetic.

A few observations going into the MNF game after Week 5:

1. Is Gruden making Johnson his fall guy due to the team's poor start?

2. Is there any way Jim Haselett keeps his job after the year?

3. With Kansas City on the schedule next week is Jacksonville headed for a big slide?

4. Is Ed Reed one of the top 3 Defensive Players in football (as a Bengals fan, I can attest to this in the past two years.)

5. Who will win next week's classic Dolphins-Bills game?

For all the talk about Ray Lewis, Ed Reed is probably the Ravens best defensive player. He can do just about anything from blocking kicks to getting interceptions to rushing the QB like he did tonight and getting credit for a sack, fumble and a TD on 1 play.

I always think Bowen going out with an injury hurt the Skins pass rush bad. He has been a great pass rusher from the SS spot. Opposing teams have seen the tape and they know to keep an extra eye out when Bowen is on the field....

I'm SERIOUSLY gonna go on a 'Trade Koren Robinson' rant cause all I ever hear about is this guy's potential and this is what, his fourth year?

Yeah Jackson drops balls too, but he also makes plays. Robinson gets a hard shot after making a 6-yard catch and he gets the ECW mutant 'HE'S HARDCORE! HE'S HARDCORE!' treatment.

Mediocrity will continue to be this team's name as long as 'Holmgren's project' is on the team. (Hey I had to put up with the cheeseheads telling me how their DEFENSE was the problem last week despite only giving up 14, I can rant on an underachieving wideout here)

As for Martz, 'MARTZ GOES SCREAMING AROUND LIKE A GIRL: HEEHEEHEEHEE, HEEHEEHEEHEE........................'

Anyone else see Martz's retarded happy dance? I was shocked to see a grown man doing such a thing.

Playing crappy teams.

Not true. This team has gone and upset Washington, Green Bay, AND Dallas on the road. Yeah they got whomped on by the Eagles in Week 1, but they've come a long way since then.

Hard to argue with being 4-1.

Washington and Dallas are terrible teams. Both have horrible offenses, they played a Cleveland team that's been destroyed by injuries and a Favreless Green Bay. Hardly beating good teams.

Umm, how many truly "good" teams are there in the NFC anyway? Philadelphia? Seattle? Umm, any more? The Giants aren't great, but they could be one of the better teams in the NFC.

5. Who will win next week's classic Dolphins-Bills game?

Dolphins get their 1st win. You heard it here 1st.

and last. The Miami Dolphins may be the worst team in the league right now, although the Bears are in close contention.

There are worse teams. The 49ers, for example.

I'm surprised they were even able to eek out a win over Arizona.

It wasn't the points scored, it was the yards allowed and time of possession which both point to a terrible run defense. There's more to defense than just how many points you allow (and admittedly Green Bay did do well in the red zone), if there's no chance to get the ball to score, you won't. Simple as that.

Dallas is hardly a horrible offense.. They're the #2 passing offense in the league just behind Minnesota, averaging 301.3 yards per game. Not to mention Washington has the #1 run defense in the league, giving up 59.5 yards per game, and New York went turnover-crazy in that game and came away with the victory.

I think these giants are good enough for at least 8-10 wins, with those extra 2 wins making all the difference about making the playoffs or not.

Only stick with the latter if you think they were looking ahead to the Patriots and forgot what the hell they were supposed to be doing over the last nine minutes (plus OT).

I don't know that this team'll be any better than 11-5 and lose in the divisional round after that crap.

I think Fox must hate Columbus as they always show the games that have that useless sack of shit Saragosa on every week.

Pfft.

Mark it down - win #1.

The Bills aren't as bad as their record indicates ... they should have won in week 1 (vs. Jax) and should have won yesterday (vs the NYJ). Add that to looking decent against the Pats, and they've shown me much more than the Dolphins have.

The Dolphins have a better D, but a much worse offense, and I don't think they'll be able to do much against the Bills D.

My guess: Bills win, by about 6 or 7.

Well the Hawks should have won yesterday under that logic. But, as it always does, should have = lost for a reason.

Hawks get BOTH back-to-back in November, they better be W's.......................

Why should have they won yesterday? They got dominated the whole game, and came back on a badly thrown ball by Pennington (who was being sacked). The Jets won like they should have.

Washington is 1-4, but have been in every game, usually with a couple oppurtunities to win the game. Their defense is 4th overall. Turnovers have killed this team dead.

Gotta agree. Buffalo has not been hammered in a game yet. And Lee Evans is shaping up to be one damned good receiver.

If Buffalo gets a TD, it'll be over.

However, if the line permits Jason Taylor to kill Bledsoe, it'll be one BUTT-ugly game.

I think Buffalo will win the battle of the hapless next week. They've at least been quite competitive in their losses.

The biggest losers of the week by far are the Seahawks. They basically fucked themselves but good yesterday with that 4th quarter collapse. Such a bizarre game, one minute I was laughing my ass off at Mark Bulger throwing interceptions, then the next I was stunned at the epic comeback win.

Seahawks also have some of the worst receivers for an alleged quality team that I've ever seen. Koren Robinson? Jackson? These are NOT legit receivers, hell they aren't even as good as the loathed pre T.O. Eagles receivers. Compare them to the Colts's virtuoso receiving of Marvin Harrison, Brandon Stokley, and Reggie Wayne.

We could see Sage Rosenfels getting the start vs. Buffalo. Both Fiedler & Feeley got banged up during the NE game, so there's a chance neither would be able to start.

Might as well start him. The other 2 guys have been pretty ineffective.

SAGE-AMANIA~! running wild. The line for the bandwagon starts to the left.

Miami by 6 over Buffalo.

Jackson's legit but Robinson, oh my god, how he hasn't been labeled a bust (officially anyway) I don't know. I'd say he was the biggest first-round bust of the Holmgren era but one lines up a few feet down from him, another has his own pad on the injured list down in Tampa, and the other's out of the league entirely.

Gotta love the famed experiment that was Mike Holmgren: The GM years.
