Guest TheDon Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 No the Yankees never signed Milton. Someone posted on a New York Yankees forum that according to Espn News Mark Mulder is on his way to the Cardinals. I dont know how accurate it is. The board is now saying that the Cardianals traded Calero, Haren and Barton for Mark Mulder of the A's. It is now on Espn.com and being confirmed by Peter Gammons.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 Milton actually pitched in the Yankees' farm system. He left in the Chuck Knoblauch trade.
HarleyQuinn Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 Credit Rotoworld... Boston Red Sox are expected to announce the signings of OF Billy McMillon(.185/.255/.326 in 52 games for Oakland) and INF Simon Pond(.163/.250/.265 in 16 games for Toronto) to minor league contracts. MR Jamie Brown(5.87 ERA in 4 games for Boston) is expected to sign with the Hanshin Tigers of Japan. MR Mike Koplove(4.05 ERA in 76 games for Arizona) could be an additional player being sent to the Dodgers in the trade.
MikeJordan23 Posted December 19, 2004 Report Posted December 19, 2004 Are these prospects any good? Barton supposed to be a can't miss catching prospect- who knows? Haren - pitched good in the post-season, throws 95 mph, good stuff Calero - Decent bullpen addition
strummer Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Gammons is reporting the Orioles are close to landing Carlos Delgado. Mets lose out on another FA.
Brett Favre Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Atleast I got one prediction correct. Mora, Tejada, and Delgado is nice.
The Czech Republic Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Gammons is reporting the Orioles are close to landing Carlos Delgado. Mets lose out on another FA. What's the matter, kiddo, Kris Benson and Pedro Martinez wasn't enough wasteful spending for you? Cheer up!
strummer Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 nope, Metsies still need to waste money on some offense
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Placido Polanco and Ron Villone accepted arbitration from the Phillies and Mariners, respectfully.
HarleyQuinn Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Credit Rotoworld Washington Nationals signed MR Joey Eischen(3.93 ERA in 21 games for Montreal) to a 1 year, $1.04 Million contract. Texas Rangers signed OF David Delluci to a 2 year, $1.8 Million contract.
mike546 Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 http://nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/sto...2p-225837c.html What an asshole Pedro is. tsk tsk.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 That heartless bastard. Nelson > Pedro
Brett Favre Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 With Pedro gone, Ortiz will probably eat him.
2GOLD Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Are the Orioles going to get ANY pitching? Cause if Denny Neagle is the future addition to the staff, I may weep. Delgado may or may not be nice, but without pitching he might be wasted.
mike546 Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gammons/story?id=1949178 New, long ass Gammons article. Question. If Pavano was born in CT, why did his family want to go to NY?
Guest Failed Mascot Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 For some reason most of the Conn residents don't like Mass based sports teams. Pavano would have loved to go to Boston but his mother-in-law is a Yankees fan and his fiance works in NY. Basically he saved himself having to listen to them bitch constantly. Either way I'm happier the Red Sox signed Clement for less. I believe today is the day arbitration eligible only players are either tendered a contract or non-tendered. Alot of interesting names to be non-tendered are floating around out there. Wade Miller, Jacque Jones, Tony Armas Jr., Brian Schneider, Brad Wilkerson, Nick Johnson, DiAngelo Jiminez, Jay Gibbons, etc Since Tek declined Arbitration and isn't backing down from his demands I wouldn't mind seeing the Red Sox grab Brian Schneider along with Wade Miller and maybe Nick Johnson. Trade Cowboy-Elbow Up to the Bar Millar.
the pinjockey Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Looking at his stats is there any reason Wilkerson should be non-tendered (especially with the contracts the Nationals have been handing out)?
Guest Failed Mascot Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Does Jim Bowden being a complete idiot count as a reason?
Slovakia Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 I was under the impression that the Nationals weren't handing out any more contracts, big small or otherwise, since they're getting evicted or something.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Orioles picked up Steve Kline. Evidently they believe the road to victory is to have your starters go 3innings and your bullpen go 6 everynight, rather than the other way around.
Slovakia Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 I like the Cubs philosophy of having one pitcher go eight innings and eight pitchers go one inning. Surely that will take us to the Central. Gotta trust your starters!
Precious Roy Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 With Pedro gone, Ortiz will probably eat him. lol Brad Wilkerson and Jacque Jones are very nice pick ups, I'd love to have either of them on my team.
mike546 Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Ah fuck. Why didn't we go after Kline?
sfaJack Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Because the Yankees can't get EVERYONE. Reds sign Kent Mercker. Cubs let a useful hand get away, thin-skinned as he may be.
HarleyQuinn Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 Detroit Tigers re-signed OF Alex Sanchez and 3B Brandon Inge to 1 year contracts. Toronto Blue Jays re-signed MR Justin Speier to a 2 year, $4.15 Million contract and re-signed SS John McDonald to a 1 year, $400 K contract. Baltimore Orioles traded $$ to the Philadelphia Phillies for SS Chris Gomez.
the pinjockey Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 If the Nationals are not even allowed to tender their own players they need to just contract now, because how the fuck can they even field a team now?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 The Nationals are allowed to tender their players, obviously. They can also make whatever moves they need, within budget. The new contracts thing was an empty threat by MLB that they couldn't try and get better by signing players, which is an empty threat because the Montreal Expos haven't signed an impact free agent since the early 80s.
the pinjockey Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 So it's just stupidity. Got it. Can we go back in time, forget the Lofton trade and sign Wilkerson?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 If Wilkerson is non-tendered, I will be HUGELY surprised. Sportswriters love to speculate about players that could be non-tendered (such as Wade Miller), but rarely if ever is a good player non-tendered.
