NEW YORK -- Even in the dead of winter, Alex Rodriguez and Curt Schilling are still going at it.

"I just hope he continues to talk about me and my teammates," the New York Yankees' third baseman said Friday. "It's going to give us great motivation to beat him up in the future."

Schilling called it a "bush-league play" after Rodriguez was called out for interference in Game 6 of the AL Championship Series last October. A-Rod, trying to beat out an infield dribbler, slapped the ball away from pitcher Bronson Arroyo near first base.

"To me it was just odd, because I mean we beat him a couple of times during the year and he was crying on the bench," Rodriguez said of Schilling. "And then he lost Game 1 and he wouldn't talk or anything. And obviously, he wins Game 6 and then he's still talking 'til today. So it's just something we as players have been accustomed to. But it's something I'm not worried about."

OH SNAP~! Go A-Rod~! *wink*

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't A-Rod crying towards the end of Game 7? Hope he's been working on his ball swatting skills in the offseason.

A-Rod was just tearing. Curt Schilling was crying like it was his party.

This is like high school girls fighting.

I could say A-Rod is whining, but Schilling was still talking about how classless A-Rod was even after that Series is over.

I think there has to be weekly soundbites in the off-season between the Red Sox & Yankees because the media certainly does not talk about them enough.

The Rangers move ahead in the Carlos Delgado bidding war, offering 3 years 39 million. Don't know if the Marlins or Mets or going to be able to top that. Could be more offense for the Rangers.

Meanwhile, the Orioles being completely confused offer 4 year 50 million to Darlos Celgado of the Mexican League.

As an O's and Cubs fan, this has been the most uneventful off-season ever. I really thought the Cubs would at least acquire some bullpen help. Very disappointing.

According to the New York Daily News, the Red Sox originally asked for top pitching prospect Yusmeiro Petit while discussing Doug Mientkiewicz with the Mets.

Damnit Mets...give us Petit and continue to suck! You don't care about your minor league team anyhow. Yes, I really liked Petit, esp. after following him last year in the minors.

The New York Yankees are close to signing 2B Rey Sanchez(.246/.281/.337 in 91 games with Tampa Bay) to a 1 year, 600K contract.

Philadelphia Phillies claimed SP Edwin Moreno(6.01 ERA in 13 starts for AA Texas) off waivers.

Anaheim Angels signed 1B Lou Merloni~!(.289/.343/.426 in 71 games with Cleveland) to an MLC and invited to ST.

Pittsburgh Pirates signed MR Albie Lopez(12.71 ERA in 15 games with Kansas City in 2003) to an MLC and invited to ST.

San Diego Padres signed SP Steve Sparks(6.04 ERA in 18 starts, 29 games with Arizona) to an MLC and invited to ST.

Not to worry! We gave Kyle Farnsworth a contract extension!

Oh God. We gave Kyle Farnsworth a contract extension.

The Rangers have offered Carlos Delgado either a four-year, $48 million deal, says the Star-Telegram, New York Times, Newsday and New York Post; four-years, $45 million, says the Bergen Record; or a four-year, $40 million deal, according to the Star-Ledger.

Hey, he's due for an up year!

Maybe he'll pull a Drew Brees!

I have faith that Kyle Fransworth will finally pitch like someone who belongs in the Major Leagues. If not, I'm sure the Orioles will take him!

...oh crap, I LIKE the Orioles.

Just out of curiousity, why are the contracts so low for Delgado? It's only about 12-13 million a year for a decent power hitting first baseman. What's the deal?

Well, if Carlos doesn't sign with the Marlins, I'd prefer he signed with Texas to keep him in the American League. What would they do with Teixeira if they signed Delgado? Doesn't make much sense to me.

I still think the Marlins will increase their offer. They probably can't match 4/48, but hopefully they can get close enough and then persuade him with all of their other factors.

Low? This is far more than I'd be willing to pay for Delgado. He's a good player and all, but first basemen are not that hard to find.

They would likely DH Delgado, but I've seen some people list Teixeira as a left fielder.

supposedly Texeria said he would move to the outfield so Delgado can play first.

Yankees also have 2B Tony Womack, SS Felix Escalona, and 2B Robinson Cano.

Would the current bench look like this?

C John Flaherty

1B Tino Martinez

2B Robinson Cano

2B Rey Sanchez

2B Andy Phillips

SS Felix Escalona

CF Bubba Crosby

I wonder what Derek Jeter is like at home. Like if I was a guest and said "Hey Derek grab me a beer," would he dive to the fridge, rummage through all the stuff to get the beer can in the very back instead of the one on the inside of the door, then do a backflip to the front of the couch from behind the couch, and hoist an American flag? Seeing as he makes the simplest tasks look so difficult and all.
