Bored Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Again as mentioned in the Week 9 thread I'm skipping over the Tuesday and Wednesday games. Yes the two Friday games are national t.v. games and not just games I threw on there. Now I did ligthen the number of low level games for Saturday I believe this week but that doesn't mean it's easier to make picks. Lots of tight mid level games in the major conferences this week. For Tennessee I'll wait another week before declaring them a dead team and allowing someone else to use their picks for them just like I did with Boise State. We'll see if Kotz is around to make picks. Week 10 Deadlines Thursday, November 4th, 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PM PST -Lose out on UL/Memphis pick and tibreak #2 Friday, November 5th, 7:00 PM EST/4:00 PM PST -Lose out on Marsh/Akron, ULL/NT, and tiebreak #1 Saturday, November 6th, Noon EST/9:00 AM PST -Forfeit Week 10 Match-ups #3 Washington State* (bravesfan, 5-4) vs. #5 UCLA* (phoenixrising, 5-4) - GAME OF THE WEEK #1 Virginia* (Edwin MacPhisto, 6-3) vs. Maryland* (MarvinisaLunatic, 6-3) #2 Minnesota* PM (Vern Gagne, 5-4) vs. Bowling Green* PM (iggymcfly, 7-2) #4 Ohio State* (Gert T, 5-4) vs. Michigan State (Dangerous A, 4-5) #6 Syracuse* (Canadian Chris, 7-2) vs. Miami* (Spaceman Spiff, 3-6) #7 Oregon* (nogoodnick, 6-3) vs. USC* (Cartman, 4-5) #8 West Virginia* (Loaded Glove, 4-5) vs. Michigan* (Mad Dog, 2-7) #9 Notre Dame* (Lando Griffin, 7-2) vs. Tennessee* - late (Kotzenjunge, 2-7) #10 Stanford* (Bored, 7-2) vs. Arizona State* - late (Spicy McHaggis, 3-6) Hawaii* (Will Scarlet, 3-6) vs. Florida State* (2GOLD, 3-6) LSU* PM (teke184, 7-2) vs. Penn State* (therealworldschampion, 3-6) Auburn* (Agent of Oblivion, 5-4) vs. Kent State* (JHawk, 4-5) Oklahoma* (Damaramu, 3-6) vs. Alabama* PM (AlwaysPissedOff, 4-5) Texas* (Flyboy, 4-5) vs. Georgia* (A_MikeSC, 8-1) Rutgers* (the pinjockey, 3-6) vs. Boston College* (HarleyQuinn, 4-5) Florida* (Agent Bond34, 2-7) vs. Boise State* PM (Vern Gagne/*dead team*, 3-6) Week 10 Games to pick from THURSDAY Louisville at Memphis FRIDAY Marshall at Akron North Texas at Louisiana-Lafayette SATURDAY Oklahoma at Texas A&M Ohio State at Michigan State Pittsburgh at Syracuse Arkansas at South Carolina Kansas State at Missouri Georgia Tech at N.C. iggymcfly Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Fuck yes. I get to knock off "number 2" Minnesota this week. I just hope they actually drop a spot or two with the loss.
Guest MikeSC Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Fuck yes. I get to knock off "number 2" Minnesota this week. I just hope they actually drop a spot or two with the loss. When win for us, the perpetually underrated. -=Mike
iggymcfly Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 Actually, the funny thing is that if I really wanted them to drop, the best way to do it would be to tank the week, and pick all the games wrong to kill their strength of schedule. Beating them badly is probably going to help them more than anything else I could do. I'll pass on that though. I'll just take the high road, and be happy to keep my undefeated record, and know who the real 1 and 2 are. Edit: Figured out the answer to the question I was asking at the end of the post.

Bored Posted November 2, 2004 Author Report Posted November 2, 2004 I ommitted Tennessee/Notre Dame because almost no one is going to pick Notre Dame in Knoxville. Hey I seemed right on by not putting Tennesse/South Carolina as that game didn't end up being much of a contest. Remember I'm no longer going by the national television schedule.
iggymcfly Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Bravesfan, obviously if you count the forfeit, I'll be way behind you. I was just saying that since I took over the Bowling Green team, I've done better than everyone except for maybe Mike. I've been undefeated since taking over, and even if my strength of schedule hasn't been as good as yours, I've still got three more picks right by the data that you so handily provided.
Vern Gagne Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Truth be told I have zero confidence this week against Iggy. No this isn't reverse psychology. Iggy does an excellent job, and knows college football.
Guest MikeSC Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 THURS Louisville over Memphis FRIDAY Marshall over Akron N. Texas over U. Carolina over Arkansas Missouri over KSU NC State over Georgia Tech Air Force over Army Nebraska over ISU FSU over Rice Colorado over Kansas Indiana over Illinois VA Tech over UNC Purdue over IA E. Michigan over C. Michigan (man, how do these teams ALWAYS seem to end up in these things?) Washington over Arizona Idaho over ASU Wyoming over UNLV TB #1: 47 TB #2: 240
Fökai Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Bravesfan, obviously if you count the forfeit, I'll be way behind you. The forfeit doesn't factor into your strength of schedule, which is weaker than most of the people in the top ten (including me). The point is, if MY strength of schedule is keeping me from the #1 or #2 slot, you're in worse shape than I am. You can't consider yourself the "uncrowned #1 or #2 seed" because you have beat a few weak opponents (weeks 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9) on the way to an undefeated record since you took over.
teke184 Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Bored, If you want to replace Kotz, you can pull a Boise State and recycle my picks for Tennessee.

Actually, you're strength of schedule is sixth out of 32. The main component holding you back is your record. And looking once again at your handy-dandy results, if you'd played my "easy schedule" since I took over 6 weeks ago, you'd be 4-2, not 6-0.
Bored Posted November 3, 2004 Author Report Posted November 3, 2004 Okay teke although we'll wait until next week as I wanna be fair to Lando (Tennessee's opponent this week) since I did allow Boise to forfeit twice before I declared them dead.

And looking once again at your handy-dandy results, if you'd played my "easy schedule" since I took over 6 weeks ago, you'd be 4-2, not 6-0. Actually, with your schedule (which you went 6-0) I would go 5-1, with more convincing wins. *Week Five tie with your opponent, Michigan State, had me winning the tiebreaker (MSU had 63, WSU had 40, tiebreaker score was 35). With my schedule, which I went 2-4 with, you would've gone 3-2-1 (Bored didn't release your tiebreakers from Week Nine due to the forfeit). Three of the games were tied (two you won). so although it helps your record, I wouldn't do much better with your picks. The best I could run with your stats is a (7,5,6), which isn't enough to get into the top two. So basically, it all comes back down to your strength of schedule, determined by OPPONENT'S POINTS, which keeps you from moving anywhere. Bored has the official numbers, but it's easy to pinpoint where you are. You have a 2 in the first column, are running worse than my 5 (which couldn't be much better without the forfeit) and are running worse than my 6 in your third column (I'd guess 12), so unless you have (2,6,7) you're not in the top two.
