WWE Feedback

Recommended Posts

I marked for that ending.

Aaaaaaaanyway, great show guys, CONGRADULATIONS to the winner of the Main Event, really awesome job by NYU, Papacita, KC and Hoff on the marquee matches. Feedback on the Triple Threat and Gunner's 24/7 title match would be much appreciated.

With Axel's injury at the hands of Ragdoll, I will be taking four weeks off due to my final exams. Axel will not be available for that time. I have a segment for this weeks HeldDown regarding AWOL and Gunner Sharps plus a short squash match, and I might have another segment the following week, but during my exams I will not be able to write. I apologise to all, but I'll be back the week after the Pay Per View. I'll still be around here, but I just won't be contributing for four weeks. Oh...

PS: When I do come back, expect some very, very interesting shit to go down leading into the December Pay Per View.

I don't think I've seen this level of writing since I started here. Just marvelous. Everyone brought their best stuff tonight; this could have been Anglemania.

More detailed feedback later.

And to Crystal: thank you.

I agree. I've only managed to skim through the show, but damn, a lot of shit went down. With the exception of GPX, it was not a good night to walk in with a title. I wasn't expecting Hoff to win at all. It had been over a month since we've last had a title change. It'll be interesting to see where the OAOAST Championship goes from here, now that the belt is back in the hands of a heel.

from end to beginning:

-Hoff won?...what? Holy shit...I...I am stoked to all hell....I...wow. Congratulations to Hoff, and Crystal...you're hot. Seriously, though, the ending to that match was rad, with the handshake and all. I enjoyed all of it. Especially this line:

...Hoff rolls off of Crystal, spent

Hehe.

-FROG SPLASH TO THE OUTSIDE?! SINCE WHEN?! Drek and Panther are OFFICIALLY my two favorite characters in the OAOAST. Both of them are incredible writers and really have a good idea of what they want their character to come off as, and that's a hard thing to do. Great match. Match of the Night. Drek Stone vs. Hoff = MOTY already.

-All I'm going to say: Leon Rodez > All of you. All i'm going to say. Congrats.

-Hahahaha...I am an Evil little fucker, aren't I? AND I'm the NEW HI-YAH World Heavyweight Champion! HAHA!! Whooo...anyway, awesome match from Zack and Axel. All I wrote of the match was the intro where Rags bitches out Zack. That's it. Zack and Axel, good fuckin job.

-I'm not going to lie, i skimmed up until Axel/Zack/Ragdoll...I'm sorry...

Long format ON~.

This was really a great show. It had a big-time "feel" to it, with some twists and turns, some new faces, a lot of titles changing hands and some HUGE matchups. Like I said earlier, all of this made the night feel bigger than just another pay-per-view, and I think we should all be proud of the combined effort.

I've got to say, I feel excited about what's going to happen next on a lot of fronts, and that's a good feeling to have.

The DX Breakdown:

- Cool opening. I was confused by "Let's Go" as the PPV theme and Holly's theme later, but whatever, not a big deal. Cool "creepy" Halloween logo. SWEET graphic by Papa.

- I like Rando's "Chris and James" stuff largely for the same reason that I like Parka's story: it's ridiculous. You'd never see this thing on WWE TV, because they try to be "real" while pushing evil Kane and Heidenreich and whatever other garbage at us. This thing, though, is just good fun, a ridiculous story, and it's nice to see. I knew what Rando was planning, but the execution was great and the two friends have a cool chemistry. Well, maybe "cool" isn't the right word.

- I knew that Parka had a big surprise, but I did NOT expect the return of PK. I like how it was kept as a one-night thing. That's pretty cool, and again, lended a big-time flavor to the show. This is the good kind of swerve. The match itself was cool; very straightforward, smash-mouth stuff. I loved the old-school cage. It's sad that Parka is leaving, because I think that of all his guys, JAE never really got a fair shake and could have been a force in the X division. Nice, albeit confusing, twist at the end with the empty bag. So does JAE want Blur and Jude to die? I guess we'll find out why he did it on HD. Oh, and the tape on Coach was a nice touch.

- I liked the intensity in Panther's promo, but I got to be honest, I didn't understand why he would need the World Title to prove that he didn't need the wrestling business. I liked the attitude he was throwing though, of the veteran-type who needs to prove he can still go.

- Interesting stuff from the Phenom. If I could offer advice, it'd be to make yourself look stronger, especially against a guy like Frank Frankensteiner who hasn't been made to look like anything spectacular. It was a cool enough showcase for the new guy, but it would have been neat to see him just KILL Frank dead. The bit with Phoenix was also cool, but it felt kind of...choppy? Dunno. Maybe write in a little more detail, like Phoenix's reaction or a look between he and Frank. But I don't mean to just criticize, and it was cool. I like hoss characters, because I think sometimes a lot of us get caught up in having guys who can do cool moves, and great athletes, and what have you. Variety is the spice of life, and I hope the Phenom sticks around for awhile.

- My head was spinning during the promo for the South Central Militia. When they got to the semicolon I was totally lost. But it was funny which is what matters. Cool new team, although...dare I say this after where we were at in the spring, but the tag scene is...getting kinda crowded. Sometimes we don't see guys for a month or more. It's cool if everyone gets used, but not if they're lost in the shuffle. Still, cool stuff.

- I have to admit, I had my doubts about Gunner vs. referee Christopher Canberra, especially after Adam told me that the 24/7 title would be changing hands. But it came off SO WELL that I feel like a fuckin' idiot for ever doubting. For about a minute Gunner MANHANDLED the poor ref...and then, oops, he got served. Yeah, like the dance movie. That was an awful flick, by the way. This group seems REALLY cool. I *love* the family dynamic, and I love that each one fills a role. The beauty part was that Kevin James was so well portrayed as a negative fan that I didn't see it coming. Maybe I'm naive, but if that's the case, then I enjoyed it more than the rest of you. I like this stable a LOT and hope they stay around for a long time. Oh, they have cool names, too.

- Chris and James: ridiculous. I love it.

- " COLE

Wow, look over there!

CABOOSE

What? There’s nothing there!

COLE

Made you look, made you look!"

Awesome.

- I love that Black T manage to look strong as wrestlers and still use all sorts of heel tactics. In a lot of ways, and I mean this in a positive manner, they remind me of the New Age Outlaws, where they dominated in-ring while still cheating all the time. They were, to be certain, a well-oiled machine. I wish I knew more of the history with Los Infernales, but this was a fun match with some neat spots, and that's good enough for me.

- I'm clearly not a HI-YAH tape buyer, because I WAS expecting a spotfest in the Jr. Title Match. I got punk'd. Great to see something so fast and also so clean, and of course, Tom's still the man when it comes to cool moves. Very entertaining read and even moreso the second time through.

Um...okay kids I'm falling asleep, so...the rest tomorrow. Sowwy. :)

At this point, it's all about the money with Panther. He likes to wrestle and perform for the fans, but hates the business because of all the backstabbing, politics, etc. It's gotten to the point that he wants to leave it behind, but can't because it's his only means of getting a steady income. After the J-Dogg situation, he's completely soured on wrestling, and feels that the payday/salary that he'd get from being champion is his first big step to breaking away. That's basically what I was trying to get across with that promo. Sorry it wasn't clear.

Feedback...I've only read a few of the matches in detail so far so I can't really comment on a lot of stuff (although to be honest, I never really know what to say about most matches anyway), but I agree with what's been said so far...everything I've looked over was great. I'll try and give more detailed feedback a later on, but right now wanna shout out Drek for his portion of the ladder match (which I thought was great), Parka for the opening cage match (PK's return had me marking. Great way to open the show), Adam for the Gunner/Canberra/AWOL stuff, of course, Hoff for the main event. Great job with that one, Hoff, as it had me so drawn in by the end of it, and like everyone else, I didn't see the change coming at all, which was great. If it was rushed or anything, I couldn't tell.

Again, I'll try and get back with more feedback once I've read through everything in full.

That actually makes a lot of sense, now that you explained it to me like a five year old. :)

Guest Phenom

Thanks for the advice, World Champion Hoff. I'm already working on making the character more Hossish.

And your remark on why I didn't flat-out kill Frank? Well, at the next PPV, someone DIES~! BY MY HAND~!

The Parka/Peter Night vs. The Machine - Great visual with the cage wall actually collapsing onto the floor, and Parka rolling along with it. Fun stuff. Once again, The Machine proves that they're willing to be assholes until the very end. It's sad to think that this entire saga is quickly coming to a close, but I'm sure LPYC has an awesome ending up his sleeve for a storyline that has taken so many twists and turns.

-Well-done intense prematch promo from Panther. Admittedly, I was kind of surprised at Panther's negative attitude towards wrestling. Yet, it seems that it adds a definitive mean streak to his personality and, with the stakes at W.W.E. being as high as they were, it makes a lot of sense. Good hype for the Ladder Match later on.

Phenom vs. Frank Frankensteiner - Fine debut match, but it just seems like a lot more could have been done with it. Good initial foundation of action in the match, yet there just wasn't enough here. The story of your matchup definitely got across: You were looking to prove the power of Phenom, while still trying to give Frankensteiner somewhat of a chance. That came across fine, but the match was missing a certain dimension. Besides just rattling off a list of moves, explain what exactly is happening. Explain how Frankensteiner is rolling around the ring in anguish. Explain how the fans "oooh" with every power move that Phenom is hitting. Try to have the sequence of moves make sense:

Phenom tries to hit a clothesline, Frank superkicks him, Frank picks him up for a suplex doesn't look too good, because it goes against how a match normally goes.

How I would have planned it:

Phenom steps back, waiting for Frank to turn his attention to him. Once Frank does, Phenom charges forward with a clothesline......but no! Frank ducks it! Phenom turns around quickly and....SUPERKICK! Frankensteiner just hit Phenom with a superkick, completely taking him off his feet! Frank raises his arms to the fans, receiving a rather loud reaction in return. He then starts to pick Phenom off the mat, who clearly looks dazed at this point. Frank looks ready to hook him up for a suplex, but Phenom gives him a vicious kick to the face! Frank instantly falls down to the mat, and Phenom quickly makes the cover! One! Two! Kickout!

Of course, you could add commentary in there as you please. This kind of description does so much more to help flesh out a match and give it a logical, somewhat special, type of feeling. I'm not saying to follow my exact format of writing - everyone needs to be original with their own stuff - but you need to try to learn how to help people visualize a match rather than feel like they're just reading it. Then again, this may just be something you'll learn over time. Either way, this was still a decent beginning match, and I certainly look forward to seeing what you have planned in the future with this character.

-With just one segment, the South Central Militia have already proven themselves to be complete badasses in the OAOAST. I liked the harsh language since it seemed to add a street-cred dimension to their characters that isn't present in too many guys in this federation right now, and their attack on the fans was just brutal. I personally loved this section.

Gunner Sharps vs. Christopher Canberra - Good, if not obvious, foreshadowing at the start of the match with interviewing the Aussie fan in the crowd. The actual beginning stuff with Gunner and Canberra managed to be both entertaining and realistic. I liked how Canberra initially blindsided Gunner with the low blow, but how Gunner just reaffirmed his strength moments later. As for the post-match shenanigans, for some reason, I find myself really enjoying this group already. An entire stable consisting of guys we haven't met yet just seems so fresh, and the fact that they're all from Australia should add an interesting dynamic. Couple that with the fact that these guys CAN wrestle - whether it be through technical skills or crazy high-flying ones (450 moonsault!!) - and we could have a great few months coming up with AWOL.

Black T vs. Los Infernales - Great action, with everyone really looking strong here. El Dandy showed his skills at the beginning of the match, with Poet taking over later on. However, Black T proved just why they were, and maybe still are, considered to be the best tag team in the division. Between great technical expertise, and a cheating machine that can't be beated, they continue to reaffirm that they are the team to beat in the Tag Division. Fun stuff here!

Yuji Chusaki vs. Alex Bryant - Excellent, excellent scientific matchup here. The action here was furious and non-stop, and I was genuinely entertaining the entire way through. Both guys came out incredibly good here. Loved all the nearfalls at the end, leading up to a fever-pitch ending with a top rope Border City Driver. Amazing. It's a shame that Bryant would eventually have the title taken away from him but, if we get the chance to see more matches like this, then it's not really a problem.

-Odd segment with Popick. If this really means the end of INTEN5E, it's just a shame more couldn't have been brought out of it. Still, Popick always has something crazy up his sleeve, so time will tell.

Global Party XChange vs. The New New Midnight Express - Good old-school matchup between these two teams. The attack on the knee was well-done and the figure-four sequence added some real excitement to the match. I also liked seeing Jingus appear from under the ring for a quick Clawslam. The directions every team in the division seems to take continues to grow more intriguing.

Chris Stevens vs. Sly Sommers - Awesome match. The pacing here was just perfect. It went from starting out tensely slow at the beginning to becoming balls-to-the-wall crazy at the end. It worked out perfectly. Stevens really established himself as the prick in this match, and Sommers showed that he definitely still has it, despite why Chris had said a few weeks ago. This match helped out both guys tremendously.

Hollywood vs. Alix - I really enjoyed this one. While I didn't understand the concept at first, the originality of the Trick or Treat stipulation really shined through here. There was some awesome action between these two women, and the stuff they did to each other in that cage was BRUTAL! (German suplex into the cage?!) Logan calling for the bell makes perfect sense, and it will be interesting to see how it's dealt with on HeldDown. The excellent action brought in this match really exceeded my expectations. And that's honestly saying a lot!

-The In Crowd Remix? Why do I see them feuding with GPX almost instantly? Either way, wow. It's great to see the Tag Division continue to thicken.

-The stuff with Chris and James during the night was such stupid fun that I couldn't help but laugh. I can only hope it winds up leading to more appearances from them in the future.

Zack Malibu vs. Axel vs. Ragdoll - Quality Main-Event-Sized match. The intensity that Ragdoll showed in this prematch promo was off-the-charts. Loved how he let his anger completely take over him there, managing to shut up both Axel and Zack. As for the action, it simply came FAST and FURIOUS. The near-falls in this one were handled SO, SO well and, by the end, I honestly didn't know who was going to win. Ragdoll spitting another fireball into Axel's face is crazy, and I shudder to think what they could plan to do to each other in the upcoming weeks.

The Blurricane vs. Leon Rodez - Amazing. KC definitely didn't disappoint in this one, as the action was everything I would have ever expected between these two. Insane reversals, exciting pinfall sequences, great technical wrestling, shocking highflying moves - like a suicide moonsault through a table, all add up to what I consider to be a SPECTACULAR match! The subtle heel tendencies of Blurricane during the contest were a nice touch as well. I was glad to see Rodez finally win the title here, since I really do feel he deserves it. His work in the OAOAST is alwys consistently tremendous, and it was about time he was rewarded for that. Loved this!

Panther vs. Drek Stone - Panther wrote the initial part of the match, so I just thought I'd comment on it. I really think we complimented each other well with this. Your part of the match provided the solid foundation the rest of the contest would be built on. I liked how they didn't bother to use the ladder in the initial portion of the match, and instead relied on trying to decide who exactly was the better wrestler. The ladder was brought in naturally and, even then, the first spots involving it were well-done. Your part focused on in-ring action, while my part relied on the crazy ladder spots, and I honestly feel we hit something great here.

Crystal vs. Hoff - Wow. What can I say here? Huge congratulations to Hoff for managing to finally win the World Championship. I was shocked to see him win the title, as he saw on IM when I first skipped over his match and fast-forwarded right to the ending. I was really happy to see him get rewarded like this for the great work I've seen him do since I joined this fed. By the way, this was an EXCELLENT Main Event! I know the stress you went through for the beginning portion of the match, having to do it under such short notice, but I could not tell at all that it was rushed one-bit. The ending sequence was crazy with all the high-impact moves, followed by subsequent kickouts, and the Future Shock off the top was just the way to end it. Awesome, awesome match, followed by an awesome, awesome ending. Congrats again, Hoff.

GREAT, GREAT stuff everyone. I seriously do mean that.

Now, if we could only get some more feedback on the Drek Stone/Panther Ladder Match (OMG!! MATCH OF THE YEAR CLASSIC!! WOWZZZZZZ~!~!)

And there may be some serious hasslin if Patty and Hoff don't finish their feedback like they promised!

Sorry, but this wouldn't have been an NYU Feedback post without some feedback whoring somewhere.....
