Fuck's sake, its two days after the election and people are already assuming that the 3.5 million people were religious anti-gay/abortion/whatever that came out for Bush. It's too early god damn it.

ah okay... so it can be assumed that the majority of Kerry voters were voting Kerry because they were "anti-Bush" but we can't assume that a majority of Bush supporters in the south were doing so based on family values (anti-gay is listed in the family value handbook nowdays it seems)?

Actually, it's safe to say that a large chunk of Kerry voters voted against Bush because every poll of them taken indicated that at least 50% voted for Kerry simply because they disliked Bush.

The war wasn't that unpopular. The polls I was seeing said it was right down the middle as of late (49/49 with a 2% margin of error), and I don't believe the recession has still been "overcome". Unemployment is still high and the war is still costing us plenty of money.

 

I think the Bush campaign simply just outperformed the Kerry campaign in many ways. I don't remember a single one of Kerry's commercials, but Bush's ads stick out in my mind (the use of the phrase "I'm George W. Bush and I approve this message" seems a bit cheesy, but it really has worked).

I think it was federal law to say I'm George W. Bush etc as part of new campaign rules. You have to say who approved what and all that.

 

I know Charles Schumer did the same for his ads.

Even if it's comparatively unpopular, 50/50 is still just that- right down the middle.

 

I'm also starting to talk to a lot of Bush supporters who actually claim much of the same thing many Kerry supporters had been saying, that no matter how bad Bush is, Kerry would be even worse. Not sure if that would qualify as people liking his plan.

 

I thought Kerry had made his plan clear(er) in the debates? Healthcare would be more federally controlled, and the idea with the war on terrorism was to have multinational talks with North Korea and consult with allies before taking any further military action to improve our standing amongst the world.

 

He didn't however, to my knowledge, outline his plan for Iraq, though.
