Sammy Sosa to Dodgers?

Recommended Posts

Nov. 6 - Sammy Sosa and Dusty Baker cannot co-exist as Cubs. So will the outfielder be sent to manager Baker's old stomping grounds as a player, Dodger Stadium?

The Los Angeles Times reports the Cubs and Dodgers are talking about sending Sosa to L.A. in exchange for rightfielder Shawn Green. The Dodgers want to unload the salary of Green, who turns 32 on Nov. 10, and are apparently willing to take on at least part of Sosa's salary to keep a marquee name in the lineup.

Each player has a no-trade clause in his contract and there are other complications that might force the deal to be expanded, the Times reports. Green's six-year, $84 million contract ends next season. He'd rather remain a Dodger but "if something else were to come up, I'd obviously have to deal with it when it came up."

The situation in Chicago might be beyond repair. Besides righting things with fans, Sosa, who turns 36 on Nov. 12, will have to make amends with his teammates for leaving a game early without permission, according to the Daily Southtown. Pitcher Kerry Wood reportedly destroyed Sosa's boom box in the Cubs clubhouse after Sosa's early departure, and Mark Prior publicly said Sosa owes the team an apology.

Hmmmmm.....

I saw this earlier, but think it's speculation, much like possible deals with the Mets, Baltimore and Colorado. I think when it's all said and done, he'll be back one more year, but I'd love to be wrong, as long as it doesn't mean taking on another schlub. Green has gotten a bad rap, mainly because he hasn't been able to come close to putting up numbers like he did in 2002. That was obviously a career season, so people should get off his back on that front.

Hopefully they move Sosa, though, as we could be in for another 2004-like year if he's not.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

actually the people want Santo and Joe Carter. And by people I mean me. But my point remains.

by the way this trade is total speculation, and the way you can tell is because the Dodgers get the reaming of a lifetime if it went down as reported. Not even the Mets would do this trade.

Hey do you guys think that as much as WGN says they don't want to, they'll have no choice but to simulcast Pat Hughes and Ron Santo on 720 and channel 9/Comcast/channel 26? It's what the people want.

Yeah, why not? I'm probably going to have the games on mute this season, anyway.

Hmmmmm.....

what about Shawn Purple or Shawn Yellow. I find those colors more asthetically appealing

Apparently lots of people would mute Chip and Steve and listen to Pat and Ron call the game.

A.K.A. half of the actual team.

I've now become a Sosa fan...

Where have you been? Sosa's never been able to coexist with anyone else. Why would the Rev. be any different?
