teke184 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 It's being reported on all the channels that VP Dick Cheney has gone to a DC-area hospital under doctor's instructions due to shortness of breath. There is no concrete information past that, although many believe that this could just be a bad cold rather than a 5th heart attack.
Guest Chris2005 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 I wonder if his lesbian daughter that he doesn't acknowledge will visit him in the hospital.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 13, 2004 The idiots are multipling in here. I'm not surprised though. You'd figure he'd get sick during the post-election letdown. Hopefully it's nothing very serious. I just started to appreciate the guy during the VP debates.

NYU 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Well, it's good to know that, if anything were to ever happen to the President, we have a strong and healthy Vice-President to take charge. Wait for it..... Shit! No we don't!

Guest Chris2005 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Here is a link for people who dont believe me and for others who have called me an idiot. I was merely asking a question outloud. If there can be an ongoing topic making fun of Michael Moore. I can at least make fun of Dick Cheney. Even though I cant stand the man, he is a human being and I hope he pulls through this. http://www.progressive.org/mpvdmk00.htm

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 All tests have turned out normal. It won't shock me at the next midterm election Cheney steps down. The man's had like 4 heartattacks, and the last two years the President is considered lame duck. Get someone like Bill Frist so the Republicans have a canidate who was the VEEP. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 Sounds good. The last VP substitution gave us President Gerald Ford, however.
Guest Chris2005 Report post Posted November 13, 2004 For the History buffs, Gerald Ford is the only person to be President and not be elected into office. He replaced Spirow Agnew as V.P. and than replaced Tricky Dick as President.
Guest Loss Report post Posted November 13, 2004 He has been hospitalized because his lesbian daughter, who is a lesbian, is apparently a lesbian who had her father hospitalized. Also, Mary Cheney is a lesbian. And Dick Cheney has ties to Halliburton.

Doesn't the Speaker of the House take the VP's place should he expire? I think if the VP assumes the Presidency and dies, the Speaker is next in line, but I believe if it's just a matter of vacating the office of the vice-president, then a new VP is appointed at the President's discretion. Bingo. The new President has a right to appointment a new VP as far as I know. If the VP dies and the President must step down, the Speaker takes over and has every right to appoint a VP. Or something like that. I slept through that day of history class.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted November 14, 2004 I am not sure who would be the new VP, if Cheney did have to step down. I know the Speaker of the House would be the new Pres. in the unlikely death of both Pres/VP, but I am not sure if he takes the VP spot in the unlikely case od Cheney stepping down. Does it become an election of sorts to pick a new VP? Or does Bush make a new choice and then the House confirms the choice. Well Cheney still is the VP, but if he did step down, I would hope Bush might pick a candidate that might be popular with the Dems (Gulliani or McCain, for example). This to me would be a good start to helping bridge the gap between the country. But I am lil ignorant about this, so I am not sure what the proper procedure. But if Bush is serious about trying to reach to the Dems and unify the country, this would be a gesture that shows how serious he is. On a lighter note (please take this as a joke) I knew that Cheney was exposed to the sun in Hawai and imagine my suprise when he didn't turn to dust. I mean, isn't he a vampire? Don't vampires get hurt by direct sunlight? Wow, I was really proven wrong that time. So it must be a medical condition, but I liked my vampire theory better. All kidding aside, I might not like Cheney, but I do hope it is nothing serious, as his bad heart history and it might be rearing its ugly head once again. And unlike that troll Michael Savage, who hoped Clinton had died, but didn't because hell was already full, was one of the most tasteless things ever muttered. I think Savage is troll, who proves that he will say anything tasteless to draw attention to himself, all in the name of the extreme right. Often, too many of these neo-con radio personalities practice this, regardless of taste. I don't like Cheney's policies, but I would never stoop that low to hope he dies, but is being kept alive becuase hell is too full. So may Cheney make a healthy recovery, so that he can go back to his lair to plan world domination . And if he must be replaced, may we get a VP who can reach across the boards and help the process to unify a divided country. I nominate Zodd or Krodos. snuffbox 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 Get well soon. Im avoiding much discussion of possible replacements for Cheney if his health worsens...I dont feel that such talk is fair or tasteful. I personally wish he would be in shape for a run in '08 (I disagree with much of his opinions but he is an exceptionally good debater and campaigner), but unfortunately that is very doubtful. teke184 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2004 If Cheney has to step down, two names floating around for his replacement are Rudy Giuliani and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn). Considering there is no true "heir" for when Bush leaves office, replacing Cheney early in the term gives them the opportunity to create one. However, getting them elected would be bucking history, as Martin Van Buren and George HW Bush are the only sitting VPs to be elected and both became one-termers. Plus, I've mentioned a lot of times, the guy has way too much scandal to survive the dirtmining that happens at the Whtie House level in politics. Giuliani would be approved by the Senate (and, just to let you know, I'm almost positive that if Cheney steps down, Bush can fill his position with anybody he wants, providing the Senate approves) --- but he doesn't want to do it. VP does not seem to be a strong path to the Presidency. I wouldn't be stunned if they named Powell, if they had to replace Cheney. -=Mike
