Mik Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Yikes. So much for Dickie V's Preseason Number 1. Hopefully it's an abnormality. Tomorrow morning I have the honor of getting damn near courtside tickets for 5 UNC games, including Maryland and Georgia Tech. Hopefully they'll have it all figured out by January.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 They were on the cover of SI this week FYI.
iggymcfly Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 I was trying to tell everyone that they were overrated as fuck, but no one would listen. They were fifth in the ACC last year, and theyll probably be fifth in the ACC this year too. Write this down now. Georgia Tech will be the 2004-2005 NCAA national champion. North Carolina will lose in a 7/10 game.
2GOLD Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 North Carolina is too young and too unprepared. They'll be in the hunt by the end of the season but early on they are going to get roughed up. But give a hand to Clara, big win for them.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 SI Cover Jinx! Maryland will be the best team in the ACC now that they've got Garrison playing up to his potential.
Big Ol' Smitty Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 As a lifelong UK fan and student, I have only one thing to say to the #2 winningest team of all time...
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Kansas got a scare in their home opener..
Mik Posted November 20, 2004 Author Report Posted November 20, 2004 I just got riser tickets to UNC - Georgia Tech this morning. If I get to the game early enough I'll probably be close enough to smell the alcohol on Dickie V's breath.
Alro Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 As a lifelong UK fan and student, I have only one thing to say to the #2 winningest team of all time... That's beautiful, man. It makes me feel even better about December 4th.

Big Ol' Smitty Posted November 20, 2004 Report Posted November 20, 2004 Man, UNC cannot hold our jockstraps. I am so pumped about the freshman class this year...Morris, Crawford, Rando (my personal favorite), Bradley--not to mention the transfer Sparks. If these guys stay another year or two and keep their heads on straight I think we are all but guaranteed a championship.

If these guys stay another year or two and keep their heads on straight I think we are all but guaranteed a championship. All the freshmen and Sparks looked good today. The whole team looked good today. Granted it was only Coppin State, but UK tends to sturggle no matter who they're playing early in the season. It is gonna be a good year.
Mik Posted November 21, 2004 Author Report Posted November 21, 2004 You'll both be eating those words come March.
cabbageboy Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 I have no idea why people continue to overrate UNC. Dean Smith ain't walking through the door, folks. Rashad McCants is still an idiot who will take entire games off mentally. Sean May, still injury prone. That said, yeah I know UK waxed a jobber today but I can't see them coming into Freedom Hall with a bunch of freshmen and taking out a veteran U of L team. Yeah I know U of L fucked off today and beat BYU of Hawaii by only 10, but that was in Maui and we all know U of L dicks around in those Hawaiian games. One thing really impressed me with UK today: the backcourt. Sparks and Rondo should be one of the better backcourts in the country.
Big Ol' Smitty Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Sparks and Rondo should be one of the better backcourts in the country. Don't forget about Ramel Bradley and Joe Crawford. Plus we have an awesome frontcourt--Randoph Morris, Chuck Hayes, Azubuike--plus some decent guys off the bench in Orbzut, Alleyne, Perry, and Sheray Thomas when he gets healthy.
AboveAverage484 Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Funny how no one mentions that they were missing their starting point guard, Felton is the one guy they can't stand to lose this year.
Damaramu Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 All this posturing over who's basketball team has the bigger dick.......all of you had better step back b/c the Mighty Sooners are gonna......what's that? Hold on my secretary is whispering something to me. What's that? They didn't make the tourney last year? Oh yeah.....this is a football school? Hmm...... I retract my previous statements......
cabbageboy Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Dama, for whatever it's worth I think OU is the best program that's never won it all in basketball. They were the best team in 1988 and frankly I thought they were the best team in 2002, but never quite got it done.
Big Ol' Smitty Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Yeah, I'm friggin' jealous of OU and Texas. How come they get to be good at BOTH sports? My college doesn't even have a football team, I think...
Damaramu Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Well OU did make it to the tournament 9 years in a row. And they were the huge favorite in 88 but the Jayhawks ended up trouncing them I believe. Anyways last year was weird. We got our asses handed to us all season basically b/c half of the team was injured and the rest were freshman and that suck bag Jabbari Brown. Now am I saying if they didn't have all this they'd have gone far and won the Big XII? Nah OSU was going to win last year no matter what IMO. And I'm confident that they'll win it this year and move on to the Final Four.
Alro Posted November 21, 2004 Report Posted November 21, 2004 Yeah, I'm friggin' jealous of OU and Texas. How come they get to be good at BOTH sports? My college doesn't even have a football team, I think... Hey now. They've not sunk to Bill Curry circa 1994 levels........yet.
therealworldschampion Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 I just got riser tickets to UNC - Georgia Tech this morning. If I get to the game early enough I'll probably be close enough to smell the alcohol on Dickie V's breath. How will you be able to tell? By that time, Vitale will have taken his usual position of having his head up Mike Krzyzewski's ass.
Damaramu Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Yeah, I'm friggin' jealous of OU and Texas. How come they get to be good at BOTH sports? My college doesn't even have a football team, I think... You know you say both as if there are no other sports. People play Baseball too ya know......
Big Ol' Smitty Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Okay sports that produce revenue.
Damaramu Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Okay sports that produce revenue. Ah understood.....and to be fair.....while OU and Texas may be good at both sports....neither team goes anywhere aside from the Final Four with basketball.
cabbageboy Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Isn't the Final Four about as far as you can go in basketball? Anyway, OU lost to Kansas in the title game in 1988 by about 2 pts I think. Never a good thing to play the same team 4 times, heh. Ask UK in 1986 about that...they beat LSU 3 times that year and yet faced them again in the Elite 8...where LSU upset them by 2. The irony is that if UK had just won that game it would have been a Bluegrass Apocalypse: U of L vs. UK in the Final Four!
Alro Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Cardinals Held Without Field Goal for 9 Minutes First UNC and now Little Brother? I love it. I'm not predicting doom and gloom like some U of L fans are, but Pitino needs to learn to coach for the whole season, not just December.
Mik Posted November 23, 2004 Author Report Posted November 23, 2004 36 point win for the Heels tonight in Maui. They are going to win this tournament, just watch.
