SNL Review- Luke Wilson/U2

SNL Moment #15:

15. Will Ferrell rides in on a tiny motorised scooter with a ridiculously small phone

The Sean Hayes show is one of my favourite SNLs of all time and I think a lot of people would agree with that. It’s the show that finally rid us of Molly Shannon but more importantly- it debuted Jefferey’s and gave us another Will Ferrell moment to remember.

THE MOMENT:

The skit begins with Jimmy Fallon and Sean Hayes folding clothes. They’re interrupted by Chris Kattan. He soon is mocked for his taste in clothing and is forced to feel the effects of the Invisisquare. Molly Shannon is next and the zings on her are so nice that it requires an Air Five. Horatio Sanz comes in, prompting the biggest sigh from the duo. Hayes and Fallon ‘No’ him everytime he opens his mouth. Sanz stands up for him with his Looney Tunes jacket which prompts my favourite quip from Hayes:

Employee #1: Hmm. I didn't know Joey Buttafuaco had a garage sale.

Sanz’s attempts at comebacks just results in funnier and funnier insults by Hayes and Fallon and Sanz character leaves. Then we get the funniest part of the skit.

Out of nowhere Will Ferrell rides in on a tiny scooter with funky glasses. Fallon immediately loses it and Hayes is quick to follow. Ferrell talks to talk as Hayes is seriously losing it. Ferrell’s phone rings and he takes out the tiniest phone known to man. He even cracks a smile as I think he realises how absurd and hilarious this is getting. Ferrell has a short phone call (Yes? Really! Splendid!) and as he tries to talk he starts laughing as well. Fallon can barely talk- he’s laughing so hard. Hayes can’t even talk either and soon the skit comes to an end with seemingly able to control themselves.

They did Jefferey’s a few more times but it was never able to capture the magic of the very first one. This skit and this episode are truly some of SNL’s greatest stuff.

Sports Report-

Nets- I miss Jason Kidd. Planinic is a great shooter but he’s not getting the ball enough. He’s also not great at point guard so having him run the offence is turning into trouble. R-Jeff can’t be the whole offence as the other guys can’t seem to shoot. Luckily the Nets play in the Eastern Conference so this current losing streak isn’t giving me too much concern.

Saints- I should really write this team off more often. A great victory against Kansas City and I was proud of them for hanging tough and intercepting Trent Green in the end. I’m hoping the Saints can use this momentum and pull another upset and knock off Denver. Since I’m confident and hopeful of a Saints victory this means Aaron Brooks will revert to his old self and lose the game.

Mailbag!!!!!!!!!!!!!-

Chad Ruffner writes-

Pretty good final moments to The Maven vs Triple H Title Match. The outside Interference added to The Match, as the outcome was actually In doubt for a little while before HHH retained In the end yet again. Unfortunately, that's about the only good thing I can say about Monday's Program. Remember when The Raw following a Major PPV used to be exciting and Newsworthy? Seems so long ago. Aside from said Main Event, nothing was really done to establish that Maven was The Raw G.M. for the night, IMO. Monday's Show seemed really no different than when Bishoff Is usually In charge. As cheesy as It was at times, I actually had more fun watching NWA:TNA on FSN's Best Damn Sports Show Period last week. Oh well. Maybe Creative will get It right with either Benoit, Jericho, or Orton next week. Then again... What Did You Think? Chad

I thought RAW was a great show- one of the best I’ve seen in a while. I’m a huge Regal fan and seeing him get the tag titles and the whole celebration with him and Eugene was a nice touch. I think a title change is newsworthy enough. Maven v. HHH was weirdly booked (The heel having to overcome the odds never works) but I liked the ending sequences as I thought Maven had a chance for a second. Bad ass Lita is pretty awesome.

I had a chance to catch Victory Road and thought it was pretty horrible. The gauntlet was fun and AJ v. Petey was pretty good but nothing on there would make me want to come back for more. Hardy v. Jarrett was really bad and seeing Hall and Nash do their tired act is just sad. It’s so pathetic how much heat Jarrett tries to get on himself each week- and how he fails miserably each time. And rehashing the nWo? The nWo were so stale and boring in 2002 that Vince McMahon had to kill them personally. Jeff Jarrett is killing TNA.

Hey Bob- This is Ken Hayashi from Voy. I have just two questions for you. First of all, which U2 albums do you own, and what is your take on each of them? Just allow me to give you my brief thoughts on all of the U2 CD’s that I do have:

War (’83)- a very good political 80s rock album- I dig the song New Year’s Day

The Unforgettable Fire (’84)- this record shows U2’s more mellow side- my favorite track is Pride (In The Name Of Love)

The Joshua Tree (’87)- U2’s best album, hands down- With Or Without You and I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For are just gold

Rattle And Hum (’88)- an okay record- a combination of live material from their Joshua Tree tour and new studio recordings, including the song Desire- lots of bluesy stuff here

Achtung Baby (’91)- U2’s second best album- the blend of electronic music and guitar-driven rock really boosted their expanding sound- every song on this CD is a winner, including One and Even Better Than The Real Thing

Zooropa (’93)- U2’s worst album- almost every song is a bunch of synthesizer noises, enhanced vocals, and scat singing- listen to the track Lemon and you’ll think “What the hell is this?”

Pop (’97)- a very blah album- I wasn’t feeling U2’s all-electronic sound here- it was like listening to some Euro-dance trash that you’d find in those Club Traxx skits- the songs Discoteque and Staring At The Sun saved this CD from total suckery

All The You Can’t Leave Behind (’00)- an outstanding album- a little too soft and adult contemporary for my tastes, but at least U2 left their experimental days behind them and returned to what made them great- my favorite tracks are Stuck In A Moment, Kite, and Wild Honey Second of all, which movie/TV soundtracks would you recommend getting for Christmas? I’m thinking about getting the Mean Girls soundtrack. Talk to you later, Ken

I don’t own many U2 albums- mainly cause I just downloaded all the good stuff and don’t really have any money to go out and buy everything.

The Joshua Tree is my all time favourite album ever. Every song flows beautifully into the next. I have the album downloaded as one big 43 file and since every song just goes together- I have trouble distinguishing them. But in a good way. I put that album on whenever I want to calm down and relax. Every song on there is awesome and amazing in its own right. I can’t pick a favourite.

Achtung Baby- Some of the songs on Achtung Baby are a bit out of place (I like One but it sounds weird in between all the techno stuff. Mysterious Ways is probably my all time favourite U2 song. The Fly and Acrobat are 2 and 3. Just a rocking album to listen too even though I think U2 had trouble topping this as Zooropa and Pop showed. I don’t own either but I’ve heard some of the songs. They’re good but nothing special.

All That You Can’t Leave Behind- ATYLCB is a great CD and got me into U2 and kicked off my U2 obsession. I think I overplayed it as I don’t like it as much as I used to. New York is my favourite song- I love hearing Bono pay tribute to my song. In A Little While is such a great sexy song- I love putting it on and just hearing the beat and Bono sing his ass off. It’s the last song Joey Ramone ever heard. Peace on Earth and Walk On are also great songs. A couple songs I don’t care for (Kite, Wild Honey) but this was U2 going back to basics and it’s great.

How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb- I downloaded this a few weeks ago (I’m bad I know) and it took me one listen and I was instantly hooked. There’s not one ‘eh’ song on here and I agree with people who say it’s their best work since Joshua Tree. City of Blinding Lights is classic old school U2 and the chorus rocks. The songs about Bono’s dad are really touching and sweet and Edge completely rapes some of the tracks- especially All Because Of You. That’s a total Edge song and it rocks because of it.

Regarding soundtracks: A Cinderella Story soundtrack has two great new Hilary songs (‘Now You Know’ and ‘Crash World’) but I don’t like that Jimmy Eat World’s ‘Here You Me’ didn’t make the cut. The Bridget Jones soundtrack is probably good although I liked the music in the first one better. Team America had some hilarious songs but I don’t know if it has much replay value.

And now the review…

Cold Opening

Cast- Will Forte, Maya Rudolph, Darrell Hammond, Finesse Mitchell

Thoughts- Last week Finesse gets the monologue. This week he gets the cold opening. Like George and Isabel Jefferson he truly is moving on up. Of course this would end up being his only appearance on the show with the exception of that Pacers thing where he had a non speaking role. This was a very clever premise and I like Forte’s George W. Rumsfeld being the snivelling dick out to get Powell was awesome and I actually didn’t mind Maya’s Condaleeza Rice. Finesse’s Colin Powell was nothing special but everyone had a lot of really good lines especially Rice pointing out how she agrees with the entire admission and Bush’s reasons for getting rid of Powell were really funny. The ending exchange between Bush and Powell (You’re fired. Mr. President I already resigned) was great as well. Very funny cold opening. ****

Monologue

Cast- Luke Wilson, Horatio Sanz

Thoughts- I would ask that aside from Weekend Update, SNL keep Sanz away from monologues but the monologues aren’t really that great away so he’s not really ruining anything. This was a pretty lame premise and they couldn’t even get the gag working with the camera phone goof. I laughed when they kissed the old ladies and old guys but seriously- Luke’s a funny guy and wrote a movie- they couldn’t think of anything better to do? Come on guys. *1/2

Debbie Downer

Cast- Wilson, Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen, Sanz

Thoughts- I think instead of Debbie Downer they should just show a dead horse next time. It’s pretty much the equivalent. It completely baffles me that-

a) They would have the gall to bring Debbie Downer back at all

b) That they would bring it back AGAIN after it died a very painful death in the Affleck show.

I mean are the writers that uninspired that the best they could come up with was another Debbie Downer? The audience is just waiting for someone to lose it and the skit now seems to exist as a test for Dratch to crack up. Either way it’s a lose-lose situation. If she cracks up then it’s just a pathetic attempt to recapture the glory of the first skit and if she doesn’t then no one gives a crap. I laughed at one of the Downer-isms but the rest was really bad and very flat. Luke going off on Debbie at the end was just painful to watch. His acting skills were pretty bad. I hope SNL gets the message and never brings back Debbie again. They’ve done enough to piss on the legacy of a great SNL moment. ¾*

American Trainwreck Awards

Cast- Wilson, Rudolph, Poehler, Dratch, Meyers, Armisen, Rob Riggle, Mitchell

Thoughts- With Amy and Maya out there this skit was dying a very slow and very painful death at the beginning. There’s only so many times you can have Amy grab her boobs before it becomes passé. And yes SNL- you had the biggest news story for a few days thanks to Ashlee. Feel free to get over that like the rest of the world has. Thankfully Amy and Maya were not the whole skit. Dratch’s Tara Reid was pretty lame but I thought Seth was hilarious as Mickey Rourke. Fred Armisen again stole the show with his AWESOME Tony Danza impression. That was the best part of the whole show and I was dying. I was watching A&E Biography with Tony Danza the other day and this was scary dead on. Fred’s fast growing into one of my favourite cast members and I think they should do an outright spoof of the Tony Danza Show since they really can’t spoof Regis and Kelly anymore. Riggle really got to shine with the Toby Keith impression. His style and his voice are perfect for stuff like that. I thought the ending was really lame and killed some of the momentum the skit had. First of all, they didn’t try to spoof any part of the Pistons v. Pacers incident- it was just the Pacers throwing punches. Second- one of the assailants was wearing a Reggie Miller jersey and anyone who watched the footage knows Reggie was in street clothes trying to calm Artest down. This skit had some highs and had some really bad lows so I’ll give it: **1/4

TV Funhouse

Thoughts- This was cut from dress last week and I can see why. Smigel’s been in quite the slump recently. I’m waiting for him to try and shock and offend us but all we get is Ellen DeGeneres and Ryan Seacrest making out. The funniest part to me was the signs the Christian fundamentalist had. Another weak effort from Smigel although the ending with Barney and George W. was pretty funny. **

The New Ambiguously Gay Duo

Cast- Wilson, Poehler, Rudolph, Forte, Riggle

Thoughts- Good to see Riggle getting some more airtime. I don’t see why Amy and Maya had to be in another skit but I guess that’s what happens when you only have 4 women in the cast. Riggle was once again really funny here. Since he hasn’t had a lot of airtime his macho guy persona hasn’t worn thin on SNL like it did with me when I saw him every week at assscat. The attempts at making conversation that Amy and Maya had were really funny and while I wasn’t feeling the concept too much I did love the ending with the hot sauce and Riggle calming him down. I hope Riggle can show off a bit more on SNL since I think if he can show some versatility he has potential. ***

U2 ‘Vertigo’

Thoughts- OH HELL YEA! U2 is my second favourite band of all time (after Simon and Garfunkel) and I love them and their music to death. Vertigo is such a kickass badass song. The whole album is just fantastic but Vertigo is the perfect song to kick off the album and to release as first single. It’s just old school U2 with The Edge ROCKING the guitar and making everyone his bitch in the process. Bono having fun at the end and experiencing vertigo was a nice little touch. I was just rocking out going crazy the whole time seeing the Gods of Music rock 8H. Just amazing stuff from an amazing band. ****1/2

Weekend Update

Cast- Fey, Poehler, Hammond, Armisen

Thoughts- Tina and Amy were improved this week. There I said it. Well the first half anyway. I thought the first little bit of WU Tina was in pretty good form and Amy wasn’t making a complete ass out of herself. After Darrell’s usually horrible Ahnuld impression- seriously dude you can’t do this one- Update seemed to fall back into its same old trap of horrible uninspired jokes and Tina and Amy laughing like idiots. I’d like to watch what Tina is laughing at during Update since it seems to be funnier then the crap we get. Fred had a rare misfire on Update. I thought his toy owner had potential (even if it was just going to be an Elliot Mainway rip-off) but once the joke was established it just kept dragging on and on and died a slow death. I’ll give the girls credit for a pretty good first half and some funny stuff with Fred. **1/2

Mr. J

Cast- Wilson, Meyers, Poehler, Armisen, Sanz, Chris Parnell, Thompson, Jason Sudakis, JB Smoove

Thoughts- It would be hypocritical for me to not get on Seth for cracking up. He really had no reason to and it did piss me off. Seth’s better then that and I hope this was just an anomaly. His attempts at not cracking up were kind of funny but since he did crack up the fun of that is kind of wiped away. This never really got going even though the Scooby Doo ending was inspired. The abortion joke at the end was awesome and it totally saved the skit. A lot of people seemed to like Horatio in this skit but he did nothing for me. *1/2

Falconer

Cast- Wilson, Forte, Thompson

Thoughts- I know a lot of people seem to like it but the Falconer has never really appealed to me. It’s just weird and stupid. This edition of the Falconer decided not to be weird and was very cute and put a big smile on my face. It wasn’t funny per se but the stuff with the dog and falcon (especially the dog licking Kenan’s face) was just so sweet. The blooper with the dog at the end was classic. It seems like animals can never behave on the live show. That dog was funnier then Maya Rudolph. Looked like her too. (Yes- I’m an asshole) **1/2

U2 ‘Sometimes You Can’t Make it On Your Own’

Thoughts- This song is about Bono’s father and the band performed it at his funeral. Bono’s voice was a bit off here but acid reflux disease doesn’t slow him down. And he always has The Edge to help him out. This was a great song- very powerful and very moving especially when you realise what the subject matter is about. Bono has another song on the album that’s sort of about his father called ‘One Step Closer’ and it’s another amazing song. This was such a beautiful song, U2 rules so much and everyone should buy or download How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. It truly is as good as the hype. ****1/4

Business Trip

Cast- Wilson, Meyers, Poehler, Thompson

Thoughts- I got a Bill Brasky vibe from this skit with all the characters going back and forth and saying random things. Unlike Bill Brasky though, this wasn’t very funny. This is in the category of ‘Once you get the joke you know where it’s going and you tune out’ which is kind of what I did. Kenan was having fun here and I enjoyed his performance here. Wilson’s Hitler joke was awesome. Those are your highlights- this sucked the rest of the way. *

The Bottom Line- A pretty blah show that was-

Wait a minute? It’s not over yet??? U2 IS GOING TO SING AGAIN? MY GOD!!!!!

U2 ‘I WILL FOLLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’

Thoughts- Seriously? I’m supposed to write a review of this???? This is the greatest ending in SNL history. One of my favourite moments EVER on the show. You know my 20 moments thing? If I was counting this season this would be top 5 no doubt, no questions asked. I mean come on. U2 playing their first ever single at SNL, Bono going crazy again? Bono having fun with that one woman and then making Amy Poehler’s year??? Look at the cast- even they know they were witnessing magic. Bono is God, U2 is the greatest band in the world and there really is no way to describe this. This is why I love U2, this is why I love SNL. I never give the musical guest ***** but this didn’t take away any time from a skit and was truly awesome and was just- there are no words. After the show U2 played Vertigo again and then did City of Blinding Lights. If SNL is smart they’ll show the City of Blinding Lights footage when they rerun the show. That’s my favourite song on the album and it must sound great live- certainly better then Debbie Downer. *****

The Bottom Line- The avg. skit was **.67 making this an easy thumbs up show. I think people are going kind of overboard calling this an instant classic though. To me an instant classic should be a classic because of the skits and it would be great with or w/o the musical guest. This show is more like the Christopher Walken show from 2003. That show was great but truly gained its classic status because of the cameos. Without U2 no one would remember this show after a few days. The cold opening was great but nothing else came close to touching it so I really don’t think we should start placing a show in the upper echelon of SNLs just because it had the best five minutes ever. I knew going in U2 was going to be great but I never imagined we would get the ending we got. SNL picked the right week to have mediocre show- I’m never going to forget the ending.

Thumbs Up

Bob did you catch Amy and Maya crying during the Goodbyes with U2? Maya was practically bawling, and Amy had to wipe tears away. I assume Amy is a big U2 fan? That ending made the hair on the back of my head stick up. Were any other cast members crying?

Forte's W is horrible. It's like he's doing an impression of Will Farrells impression of W. They should either stop doing W, or hire a ringer.

The Tony Danza, on the otherhand, had me on the floor. I love me a good Danza.

Update was bad. There wasn't a joke that neither girl didn't laugh at. "HEHEHE Yur so FUNNY" "NO, YUR Funny" "Oh stop, yur funny" "Yeah, but yur funny too" "Yeah, I guess so... why doesn't anyone else find us funny?" "Who cares, I think yur funny" "HEHHEHE Yur so FUNNY" "NO, YUR funny" "Oh stop, yur funny"... DIE! Or do a single white female thing and have Phoeler do what we all expect her to do and dye her hair black and.. well, I didn't really see single white female so I don't know the rest.

FUCK, I missed the ending.

I thought Fred's Danza impression was the funniest part of the show, I actually laughed out loud.

Did Tina think the audience would know who Maureen Dowd was? Even for those of us who do know, even less have actually heard her speak and got the joke.

I didn't notice Maya, but you could tell the moment was real when Amy cried while Bono was hugging here.

Anyone see the classic episode? They showed the Andy Kaufman/Jerry Lawler match, and had Andy Kaufman's apology speech.

The NBC affiliate here in Houston dosen't show Classic SNL, we get 'Showtime at the Apollo' instead. They don't even delay it until 3 a.m. like I'm sure other cities do, they just don't show it at all. We don't get the Carson Daly show either, but I'm somewhat grateful for that.

BTW, nothing to do with SNL but does anyone else wonder what the deal is with that stupid Levis commercial? The jeans are low rise jeans that fit tightly around the girl, the dog steals them, and the same pair are loose and go above the waist on the guy who is much bigger than the girl. The damn thing is just made to get the shot of the girl in her underwear and they don't even get that right.

Shit, I fell asleep during Weekend Update.

All I liked from the show was Tony Danza (Fred Armisen's not so bad anymore). Everything else that I saw sucked the big one.

I actually miss Jimmy Fallon. At least he was lively when he was with Horatio.

- Once again, Horatio in the first half hour = crap show.

- MVP this week was U2, as they carried the show.

- Armisen's Tony Danza was all types of kickass

- I thought The Pacers thing was pretty good, considering that it happened the night before. As for the Miller jersey, it's probably the easiest Pacers jersey to find in NYC.

I can't believe I missed U2's third song. If it had been "Streets", I probably would be killing myself or something not so drastic.

Bob, have you had a chance to play this SNL Trivial Pursuit game?

I caught some of the cast crying but I was too busy going crazy and wondering what I was witnessing. I heard Seth was crying. What a moment.

Forte's W is horrible. It's like he's doing an impression of Will Farrells impression of W. They should either stop doing W, or hire a ringer.

That's where I disagree RRR. One of my problems with Parnell's impression was that he was doing an imitation of Ferrell's W. To me Forte has his own distinct voice and manner of doing W.

Yea WU sucks now- everyone pretty much called Amy bombing a mile away but Tina is too pigheaded too admit it.

Anyone see the classic episode? They showed the Andy Kaufman/Jerry Lawler match, and had Andy Kaufman's apology speech.

That was AWESOME and I was marking out for the whole footage. Kaufman was a bumping machine. It also had a Tony Danza cameo! Ay oh!

Did Tina think the audience would know who Maureen Dowd was? Even for those of us who do know, even less have actually heard her speak and got the joke.

I know who Maureen Dowd is but I don't know how she sounds, what distinguishes her etc. I'm surprised that made it past dress since I don't think anyone laughed then.

- I thought The Pacers thing was pretty good, considering that it happened the night before. As for the Miller jersey, it's probably the easiest Pacers jersey to find in NYC.

They wrote the second debate skit in a few hours so I'm not as impressed.

They work right near the NBA Store so I don't think jerseys are too hard to come by.

I can't believe I missed U2's third song. If it had been "Streets", I probably would be killing myself or something not so drastic.

Bob, have you had a chance to play this SNL Trivial Pursuit game?

If they had done Sunday Bloody Sunday I would've died of excitement. Or a heart attack since my diet is disgusting.

One of my friends has it but I haven't seen her since I'm up in Canada. I think people would be scared to play me.

To those of you who didn't see the ending- try to dl it or watch the rerun or something. My God what a momet

Why doesn't SNL hire the George Bush that Jay Leno always uses on his show? That guy sounds and looks exactly like him. Forte is just awful as W.

I think SNL tries to make sure that it's visually obvious that it's not the real deal. Forte's come into his own as W, and I don't think that anyone else on the cast can do a better job than him.

Cold Opening

Cast- Will Forte, Maya Rudolph, Darrell Hammond, Finesse Mitchell

-This might have made a little more sense to me had I watched more reality tv...but I don't. Why is it that Finesse uses the same voice for everything he does? He doesn't even try to seperate characters. Darrell was good, Maya was alright, and I'm starting to like Will as Bush, but I still didn't get much out of it. *1/2

Monologue

Cast- Luke Wilson, Horatio Sanz

-Not funny, a tiny joke with Luke Wilson making out with old men and women, but that's about it. 1/2*

Debbie Downer

Cast- Wilson, Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen, Sanz

-It's pretty bad when you're watching a skit and just waiting for people to mess up...that's it, the only reason to watch. Couple laughs, nothing great. *1/2

American Trainwreck Awards

Cast- Wilson, Rudolph, Poehler, Dratch, Meyers, Armisen, Rob Riggle, Mitchell

-As my hatred for the unfunny Maya continues to grow, I'm really starting to like Fred more and more...I think it was the bird shit last week that did it. Amy and Maya's stuff could have been cut in half. The rest was good enough though, and although they didn't get their Pistons vs Pacers facts down I'm glad they threw something in on short notice. **

TV Funhouse

-Seems like everytime this guy hits, he has a half dozen misses in a row. This wasn't funny, by the time they got to Ryan being straight like Carson I was already to annoyed with the skit to even laugh at that...here it comes...wait for it...DUD!

The New Ambiguously Gay Duo

Cast- Wilson, Poehler, Rudolph, Forte, Riggle

-While I am all for gay jokes that aren't really gay jokes, this one fell flat after a while, good enough start but just keep going on and on.*1/2

Weekend Update

Cast- Fey, Poehler, Hammond, Armisen

-Hammond needs to retire Arnold what with the bad jokes and the no laughing that leads to the channel changing and so forth. Tina and Amy weren't bad...but with Hammond and Armisen they didn't seem to have time for any jokes. And damn my soul, but "pull it, pull it, pullt, *grunt*, Yeah!" was the only part of the entire show where I really really laughed. **

Mr. J

Cast- Wilson, Meyers, Poehler, Armisen, Sanz, Chris Parnell, Thompson, Jason Sudakis, JB Smoove

-I really really wanted to like this skit more than I did. This could be a good one to bring back with better jokes. Few laughs, but I think it should have been better...and teachers taking their students to get abortions? Always Funny!.**1/2

Falconer

Cast- Wilson, Forte, Thompson

-This bit has never made me laugh, and it didn't start tonight. Sad when the only entertaining bit is a dog that won't take orders. DUD!

Business Trip

Cast- Wilson, Meyers, Poehler, Thompson

-Not bad, nice to see Keenan get some time, he's the only funny black cast member, yet gets the least time, go figure. I got a couple laughs out of this one, and unlike other skits they killed this off before it dragged on.**1/2

Very forgetable show

He sounds way too whiney as Bush and doesn't add any personality like Farrell did. Farrell didn't sound exactly like Bush (or even close) but he gave it personality that was an exaggerated version of W (or, how many of us perceive W to be). Forte should have been more excited when he was trying to be The Donald. Farrell "got" the cowboy-wannabe/fratboy aspect of Bush that Forte doesn't portray.

I think you need to watch the Apprentice to truly get it. Finesse uses the same voice because he's not talented.

Smigel usually hits a lot more then he misses- sometimes he gets in slumps though- this is one of them.

The New Ambiguously Gay Duo

Cast- Wilson, Poehler, Rudolph, Forte, Riggle

-While I am all for gay jokes that aren't really gay jokes, this one fell flat after a while, good enough start but just keep going on and on.*1/2

I thought Riggle barking at him with the hot sauce and all of that was hilarious.

Mr.

I thought this would be really funny but it just fell very flat.

Falconer

Cast- Wilson, Forte, Thompson

-This bit has never made me laugh, and it didn't start tonight. Sad when the only entertaining bit is a dog that won't take orders. DUD!

Falconer is a love it or hate it type deal.

Very forgetable show

I'd agree but with U2 being U2 you can't say it was forgettable.

Forte's not even close to Ferrell's W but I like his voice (Bush can sound whiney- especially in press conferences). He's got some aspects but he's definetley not perfect

What's the big deal with U2?

My friends are hardcore U2 fans, but even they admit U2 isn't exactly rock.

I call it pussy rock.

But they've paid their dues so i respect them for making semi-decent music.

The ending last night was indeed very cool.
