This Monday's Battle Royal...

Recommended Posts

well that was the original intent of the thread which turned into a "how does hhh keep the title".

I had lost touch of the original topic. My apoligies AS.

The list I had was 23 people so It's logical to assume that Coach and Lawler will overtake the last two spots unless Victoria pulls a chyna and goes "I want to wrestle the men" type spot.

Or they could do JR vs Coach (qualifying match, maybe?) again and have Coach face the newest, returning RAW superstar...Johnny Raw! (formerly Johnny Nitro) Just a thought

The thread isn't about Edge's gimmick, Anglesault.

it's about the battle royal.

My previous post about Edge's gimmick (being ruined by THE BATTLE ROYAL) and Triple H's upcoming PPV title defense (which would be changed/modified/cancelled due to the outcome of THE BATTLE ROYAL) are in topic.

Who Kurt Angle wrestles good matches with is not. Use sense.

You know, if Paul Heyman was booking the battle royal, Triple H would be the first man eliminated. Then you'd watch the rest of the match thinking who the champion would be instead of will Triple H lose. He did that a lot in ECW. Especially in 3-Way title matches.

I think that would be the most logical, as well as make the most sense. So of course Vince and Co. will probably do the opposite. Seriously, as soon as The Bell rings every Babyface and Heel should go right after Hunter and dump him out. HHH could then save face by saying It took over 20 Raw Super Stars to end his Title Reign. I almost guarentee more people would be Into The Match from that point on. Or at least I would!

Well, since the acting to this point has been so horrendous that the fans are laughing at him, perhaps that's not such a bad thing.

There's alot of characters Edge can play. We discovered a long time ago that "funny face" is no longer one of them, and we're quickly learning that "mentally unstable heel" is almost as bad.

The overly obnoxious Christian-Lite (Jericho-Lite-Lite?) character that he used a couple of weeks ago was a much better idea.

Edge went from Tweener with no gimmcik to the most over heel in the comapny. In one month.

If your gonna make stuff up, you should say that some TE guy almost made a Top Teir Player tap on a major TV show and if the ref didnt stop it, a limb could have been broken.

O wait...mine is true!

is viscera rehired or what

He's not under contract. He's been told they'll use him whenever they can find something for him to do.

If he was uncer cotnract, him squashing "Jobbers" on Heat doesn't bother me, since they fired 4 or 5 people that did Heat duty (including the women)

Well, except for the guys more over than him.

I didn't say that he's not over. I said his acting is absolutely horrendous and pointed to an incident where fans laughed at him.

That's like the opposite of relevant. And it doesn't bother me at all. Missed that boat by about a year and a half.

You can be over without being a draw, but drawing is the highest form of being over. Example, Hogan can't draw anymore, but was over to the fans, albeit as a nostalgia act. It all comes down to semantics though, I guess.

You aren't over unless you can draw. It's one thing to 'be over' with the live fans, and get them to boo you, cheer you, etc, but it's something else to get them to pay to see you. Unless you can get them to pay to see you, you're not over.

Then HHH isn't over. Benoit isn't over.

By your definition...NO ONE is over.

I have a question. If every member of the Raw roster is going to be in this battle royal, does that mean that most people will be pulling double duty on Monday? I'd like to think that the battle royal could be like a Royal Rumble and take up, like, an hour...but even then, they'd still have another hour and ten minutes or so to fill up.

Well, the women will have a match. There'll probably be some T&A bullshit. The Heat jobbers that won't go far will probably have matches. Orton will face somebody (Edge maybe?). Loads of segments.

Just out of curiousity, who are the guys more over than him?

Both Champions, certainly, and Coachman may be the most over character in the company right now.

When I read houseshow reports alot, he's the one with the most heat.

Bad example. Test was often the highest heat getter at houseshows.

It'll likely have a couple woman's matches like Trish Vs Stacy (ugh) and Lita Vs Molly. (when does Victoria come back?)

Orton isn't working so he could be a asshole and force Edge to work double duty and that would burn 20 minutes up.

Dean will get a 10 minute time killer segment. A couple more HHH/Batistia segments.

That'd eat up about most of the first hour right there. Royal Match will likely be 30 minutes...10 minutes can be burned by showing all the enterances.

If you want to see who is seen as valuable by management, take note of who gets an entrance. You could tell the jobbers in the #1 contender Battle Royals earlier in the year when they got introduced during the commercial break.

"Over" is the fan's acceptance of a performer, "draw" is being over to the point they will pay to see you, I thought this was the appropriate usage. Meaning people are over, but no one's a draw.

Where is Raw going to be at Monday? Would it be plausible for The Rock to randomly appear for a week to let people remember he is alive? Afterall, I'm sure he'll be around for Wrestlemania again.

Alright, now I'm sure you guys will all think I'm insane, but I was talking with some fellow smarks at work yesterday and we came upon a conclusion to this battle royal...

Chris Jericho will win the World Title.

No, no wait... hear me out.

Alright, well, we know Jericho is the last GM, right? What I think will happen is that it will come down to Triple H and Jericho. Triple H will get the upper hand, then out comes Orton, Benoit, Maven and maybe some assorted other faces. They all get in the ring and go after Triple H. Evolution comes down to the ring and goes after Jericho, trying to eliminate him. Somehow in the struggle, Triple H gets Jericho up against the ropes, then starts eliminating him. Batista, trying to "help", goes for his sick clothesline to eliminate Jericho himself, but Jericho ducks and Triple H eats the Clothseline of doom, sending him over the top rope and to the floor.

This way, Jericho gets a short title run (he's arguably one of the most over faces in the company right now), Batista's split with Evolution begins, Triple H gets to leave and do press for Blade Trinity (which comes out next month) and then gets to return in time for the January New Year's Revolution PPV, where he can win the title back from Jericho, raise his title count up one more, and start the feud against Orton for WrestleMania.

By your definition...NO ONE is over.

Falling buy-rates and houses back that up too.

No one is driving the fans away, but nobody is pulling them in either. If they were, business wouldn't be in state it is.

Someone has to be putting them away besides the stale product. The fans aren't enthralled by JBL, Chris Benoit, HHH, Kurt Angle and Eddy Guerrero being the headliners for most of the year and Orton isn't working either.

The fans have made it clear they want bigger stars and WWE is intent on NOT doing that.

They have almost completely dropped the ball on John Cena here by completing neutering his character to the point fans are about turn on him but not in the good way.

Not really.

It's in Baltimore, Maryland this week.

Unless Rock is filming in Baltimore, it's not feasible.

Replace Benoit with Jericho, and you'll be onto something. Remember, Hunter still has to get all those jobs back he's done to Benoit on PPV this year.

...but you could substitute Jericho in that scenario with damn near every other person on Raw. Like Chris Benoit or Edge for example.
